Rating: Summary: Calming and kind... Review: I have just recently bought this tape and several narrated by Rodney Yee. The first time I did this one, I was a little disappointed and thought that Yee's were better (and also longer!). The second time I did it however, I found the poses not to be as easy as I thought and I felt very centered and relaxed afterward. Also, Susan Deason has a great voice. It is very calming and reassuring. This is a good tape when you need want to do some basic yoga and feel better.
Rating: Summary: excellent yoga workout at home Review: Do not let the title fool you. I have been practicing home yoga for about 5 years. Always searching for something to take me further, This video delivers.
Rating: Summary: good for growth Review: Great for beginners as well as those who are more advanced. Gives you plenty of time to sink into poses and to modify the moves to meet your personal level. Instruction is clear.
Rating: Summary: Relaxing and challenging for beginners Review: I was a little leary about taking up yoga on my own. However, that all changed when I got this home and tried it out. The next day, I was feeling muscles that I hadn't felt in a long time! Susanne Deason goes into detail to describe the positions clearly and concisely. I love the options for choosing which program you want to follow; it gives me room to develop. The program really helps develop flexibility and strength. It is also very relaxing. My only concern is that once I've "mastered" this, I'll have to shop around for something more advanced. :-)
Rating: Summary: Great for Beginners! Review: This really is a good tape for beginners. I even got my mom to try it with me. I've tried a few tapes, and I like this one because because it offers 4 different modified versions of the poses for people who may not be very flexible. I'm not too sure how well it suits for weight loss, but the routine will definitely inspire you to continue with yoga. Overall, I felt really good after completing this routine. Lots of leg strengthening excercises...a nice change if you don't want to do the same workout everyday.
Rating: Summary: A different approach to weight loss! Review: I really enjoy this DVD. This is the first excersize DVD i have purchased and i loved it! I've never done yoga before and i enjoy it. It is a different approach, instead of the pushing, strenouous work, you relax and are at peace.
Rating: Summary: Good at first but now not challenging enough Review: I found that this tape really was geared towards beginners. To it's credit it was useful to have multiple different versions of each move when I first started the tape. I quickly was eager for something more challenging. Good tape for stress relief but I can't honestly say that this workout is intensive enough for weight loss. Good muscle tone maybe...I recommend this for anyone just starting out and especially those with limited movement. You won't feel intimidated by the moves here and the scenery and music are really relaxing.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Beginning Yoga DVD Review: I had never done any form of Yoga before when I purchased this DVD. I was very glad they had the modified version you can follow until you get limber enough to do the more advanced versions. I found it very clear and concise and if I didn't get a move right, they have very good instructions you can click on. I am a very large woman and found it extremely easy to do the modified moves. I am amazed how much easier it gets over time. I recommend it to anyone of all shapes and sizes.
Rating: Summary: Disk problems Review: After I got this DVD I decided to simply watch the video at first and follow along at a more opportune time. Since I was going to do this at work after work, I put the DVD into a Dell Laptop to watch. About 23 minutes into the program, it locked up the Laptop. So I decided to read some of these reviews a little closer, and I found others who have had this problem. My advice, this would have probably been a good program, but if it won't play, it's of no more use than a drink coaster. Look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Yoga does not equal Weight Loss Review: The DVD, while providing an excellent yoga workout, has absolutely nothing to do with weight loss. In fact, that point is made quite clear within the booklet which accompanies this DVD! I suppose Yoga is great for anybody, and this workout provides an excellent introduction to Yoga while also providing advanced moves so that the user can improve without having to shell more money out for more workouts, however the title of this workout is VERY misleading. This yoga program has nothing to do with weight loss whatsoever, it would be more aptly titled "Yoga for Anybody, Even the Out-of-Shape" or "Yoga you can do along with a program of Cardio and Strength Training for Weight Loss". As a sole workout, this program will make you more flexible, but not burn fat or build much muscle. If you are looking for a yoga-based workout that will provide a bit more aerobic activity, I recommend Crunch's Fat-Burning Yoga workout, which is challenging and definitely more inclined to help you lose weight.
