Rating: Summary: great for beginners Review: I did this tape reluctantly at first, being a total beginner and out of shape. Forunately it is slow and simple, easy for beginners to follow along. The other instructors modify the poses for those who have stiff shoulders, not so good balance or who are not very flexible. It's great for total beginners, nice scenery too. However, after a few times it didn't challenge me. The last time I did the tape I nearly dozed off, the mellow music and slow relaxing poses made me sleepy. But if you have never tried yoga and need a slow and easy start this may be the tape for you. The instructors are normal looking women, not intimidating super muscular twenty year olds. I found myself thinking if these women can do it, so can I.
Rating: Summary: Great Yoga workout! Review: Don't expect to lose weight with this DVD, but it is a great warm up and cool down for other activities. I usually do the first part before running on the treadmill for 30 mins. and then I do the other 2 parts. If you are pressed for time you can always just do the first part, run, and then do the last part. Great stretching exercises for any cardio workout. I recommend this above any other DVD that I have used. The option of modifying the workout is especially important, I wish other DVD's had this option.
Rating: Summary: Easy workout with results Review: My wife and I started using this DVD two to three times a week. I thought I would have trouble sticking with it but this workout has a 10 minute warmup, a 20 minute workout and a 15 minute cool down. I was amazed that I actually look forward to doing this workout. It is a meditation combined with stretching and positions that leave you feeling relaxed while at the same time energized and emotionally refreshed. I have recommended this DVD highly to all of our friends and we still use it regularly after 2 years. There are 4 levels of instruction and the DVD features make it easy to watch all four together or each one separately as you grow and become more flexible. I never thought Yoga would be so easy and enjoyable. We also both lost a lot of weight combining this with a sensible diet program.
Rating: Summary: Great for beginners Review: What's great about this video is that you can choose your fitness level and the camera focuses on that person. You can also choose one of four 45 minute sessions, or do them all for a longer workout. Unlike other videos, this one allows you to skip ahead and search chapters, which is great. Now, if you're new to yoga or very inflexible, this would be the perfect yoga video for you. However, if you're fairly advanced, or looking for a challenge, I would pass on this one.
Rating: Summary: Overweight? Connect your mind and body. You CAN do this! Review: If you are really overweight, chances are your mind and body operate separately. In your mind, you're a different person than the body everyone else sees. Yoga helps you to start the process of uniting the two. Suzanne Deason understands this and does an excellent job in this DVD of guiding you. No matter how overweight you are, you CAN do the moves. You may need to purchase a taller brick than the standard ones, and do get a good, thicker mat, but you will amaze yourself with the results you get. For me, yoga is proving to be the key first step to living in a healthier body, and Suzanne Deason is leading the way!
Rating: Summary: I love this tape! Review: This is a great tape. Even without the yoga, I enjoy looking at the scenery behind the workout. Suzanne Deason has four modifications in this tape, so that if you are having a not-so-flexible day, you can still participate in the workout. I have several other tapes, but this tape is the best as far as continuity of the work out (you don't feel like you just jump into yoga, there is a great warm-up and cool down).
Rating: Summary: Relaxing and Energizing Review: I'm not new to yoga - I've taken some classes and read some books over the past several years, however, I've never felt so calm, energized and spiritually connected as I do once I've finished Suzanne Deason's Yoga Conditioning workout DVD. I love the way she focuses on breathing and awareness and gives very good instruction throughout the video. It seems that a lot of the reviewers think this DVD moves too slowly, but I love that it does move in a relaxed way so that I have more time to think about what I'm doing and become more aware of body alignment and breathing. To me, this is what yoga is about. In only a month, I can already see a difference in my body - everything seems to be flowing better, my legs seem longer, and I feel more elegant and poised. Susanne Deason is in stark contrast to say, Denise Austin, who moves frenetically through each posture with little or no instruction.
Rating: Summary: Great for Fit Beginner Review: This video is my first experience with yoga. I love it! It is challenging but not overwhelming. After two and a half weeks of consistent use my flexibility is improved. I can easily follow her instructions without any background in yoga. I wouldn't say this will take weight off alone but it sure will get you more in touch with your body and might allow you to lose weight that way. It isn't easy it is just right for a fit beginner. The video is beautifully done she is beautiful and the music is nice, not cloying like a lot of new age-ish music
Rating: Summary: Not a good video Review: I don't like this yoga dvd. I bought it and was excited to use it in addition to my yoga class twice weekly. I don't like the way it is narrated with different levels. It is not easy to follow and I don't feel relaxed afterward. Something about Suzannes Deason's voice....YUCK!
Rating: Summary: WRONG! about not losing weight with yoga! Review: Anyone who says you cannot lose weight doing yoga has not done it for more than 6 weeks. I'm in my 50's, have lost only 20 lbs., but I'm easily wearing ALL the clothing that fit when I was 40 lbs. lighter. Yoga is the only way to explain this amazing result. I've gone from an 18W pant to a 14 regular - after four months of yoga. My butt is smaller than it was in college. Do Yoga! It will change your life!
