Rating: Summary: WORTH OWING THIS ONE. Review: The video was better than expected. Great workout for beginners/intermediate, a little slow for advanced. Very similar to Tae-Bo. Easy to follow -- and much easier on the body than Billy Blanks Tae-Bo videos. You work up a sweat without injuring yourself. Kathy Smith could not do an advanced tape of this nature -- not a powerful leader in this area. But overall, a very good workout.
Rating: Summary: Worth the price Review: The moves are similar to those found in the Tae Bo routines. However, the intensity of the workout is significantly less than the Tae Bo workouts. This workout is great for the begginer or as a primer for Tae Bo. Kathy does a nice job with the instructions but performs akwardly compared to the other instructors. The music is decent and they are always in sync. I use the video as an alternate to Tae Bo either as a change of scenery or on days when the energy level is low.
Rating: Summary: Great work-out! Review: This tape is for people who are at a beginners/intermediate level. It is easy to follow along & the moves do work you out. I also have the tae bo tapes & it's nice to mix up the work-outs so they don't get boring & repititious. I also have Kathy Smith's Aerobox tape & I do that first & then the kickboxing for a great overall work-out. You won't get bored.
Rating: Summary: Simply Aweful!!! Review: Why does Kathy Smith have a following? Why does she have to make those sounds and sound so insincerely chatty? Ugh! If you hate exercise videos where the fitness leader "acts" as if the workout is sooooo fun, even orgasmic, then skip this one.
Rating: Summary: Poor quality Review: I'd have to say that on a technological level, this video is reminiscent of something from 10 years ago. It is of extremely poor quality and the camera angles are terrible especially in comparison to another of Kathy's Videos, Aerobox(1994), which was superior. As a competitive athlete I may be judging the workout portion too harshly, but I found it to be a Tae Bo copy (not to say that was much better) using moves that would hardly be challenging for a beginner, which is the only way to form strength. I wish beginners who have used the video once would stop rushing to their computers telling the public that it has changed their lives. I plan to return this video and would discourage anyone from purchasing it. However, one thing which I do not understand is the purpose of Keith Cooke. He seems capable, but he had no real instructional part in the video, probably just another advertising icon.
Rating: Summary: Too easy- a dissapointing second to Tae Bo Review: I was dissapointed!! I found that it was as it was "beginning to intermediate" I am use to the advanced tae Bo which far exceeds the workout here.
Rating: Summary: Perfect for Getting into the Right Form Review: I agree with some reviewers that the tape could have been better done if it was led by Keith or Kelli. Kathy Smith still looks "outsider" in terms of kick boxing. Keith and Kelli have definitely performed the more beautiful and powerful movements. That said, the tape has complemented the Tae Bo for giving an excellent training in forms. The music is better, so is the speed more easy to catch up. I have been using this tape more often than the Tae Bo one.
Rating: Summary: WORTH THE MONEY... Review: I bought this video right after I saw it fetured on this site. I am glad that I did. This video was worth every penny. It was energetic, intense, dynamic and a GREAT workout. The only downfall this video had was some of the sections were done using a chair (the cool-down and toning sections). Since I did not have a chair readily available, I had to stop the tape to go get one. The moves were very easy to follow. During the punches and kicks there was a voice-over instructing on proper positioning (chest out, elbows in) to ensure you did not sustain an injury. It was an intense aerobic workout, but if you do NOT exercise regularly this might not be the best video to begin on. Overall: This video provided a GREAT workout at a GREAT price.
Rating: Summary: A Good Addition to Your Fitness Video Collection Review: I purchased this video based on the excellent ratings it received from previous reviewers, and I must say that I am slightly disappointed. I also own the Billy Blanks Tae-Bo Collection, and I do not think that this tape is much better than Tae-Bo, as the reviewers claim. It was a very effective cardio workout, and I liked the bonus ab/back stabilizer section, but I did not like Kathy Smith as the leader of this tape. I have never seen a Kathy Smith exercise video before, and did not realize how annoying she is. It would have been better if Keith Cooke or Kelli Roberts was the leader. Their techniques and style are much better than Kathy Smith's. It also seems to me that several of the punch/kick combinations were identical to those in Billy Blanks' workouts. They should have been more original and incorporated different combos or choreography. Also I feel that her safety techniques are not that much better than Billy Blanks, as everyone claims. Also, this workout could eventually get boring for people at an advanced level. It is best to incorporate it with another cardio and strength training workout.
Rating: Summary: Better than Tae-Bo! Review: WOW! I really loved this workout. I've been using my Tae-Bo videos for 3 months and I like them, but this I like so much more! If you already know all the basic moves this workout will be easy to catch on to as Kathy cues perfectly. I totally worked up a sweat too. I felt the warm up was excellent as was the cool-down. I also have the Arobox tape and they are both awesome.
