Rating: Summary: One of the top three picks for your kickboxing video library Review: I like having variety so this workout is an excellent addition for your kickboxing video collection. Great routines, good combos, on-time cues, and great explanations given by a real Kickboxing contender (by using an instructional inset for proper form alongside the ongoing routine) make this one of my top recommendations. The verbage is helpful not annoying, the energy level is refreshing not lacking and, Kathy's workout team especially Kelli Roberts (famous L.A. fitness personality) and Keith Cooke (Grand Champion Karate expert) are absolutely exceptional; so much so that they should contribute their own videos! Kathy includes a kicking drill section that can enhance and ease your workout, too. I use this video to compliment my workout mix (or even when I can't get to the local rec center b/c the kids are sick or if I have to wait for incoming service - you know, the riduculous 3-4 hour service windows). Include this workout, you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Good alternate with Tae Bo Review: I was only using the Tae Bo tapes when I tried this tape. It is a nice alternative when you get bored with Tae Bo. It uses the same moves, but the moves flow together a little better than they do with Tae Bo. There is also better instruction in kickboxing form (an inset instruction of how to do the kick plays along side the routine). I recommend it as an adjunct to Tae Bo or other kickboxing videos. I also appreciate the lack of chatter on this video.
Rating: Summary: Give This a Chance! Review: I recently purchased this video after finally burning out on Tae-Bo and Tae-Bo Live. I was very impressed. Kathy takes the time to show us proper form to avoid injury especially in regards to kicks and punches. Good music and good routines, however, the combinations get a little complicated toward the end of the workout and you may lose your step. The warm-up is longer than I would have liked, otherwise this is a great workout. Kathy really gives Billy Blanks a run for his money.
Rating: Summary: Kathy Smith Kickboxing Review: This is a great workout, I enjoy it because it is not as intense or intimidating as some of the other KICKBOXING TAPES.This tapes works at an intensity that is easy to keep up with and you do get a great workout.
Rating: Summary: Great kickboxing workout! Review: This workout is much better than the Billy Blanks Tae-bo tapes! I really enjoy kickboxing and was looking for something fun. I have four of the tae-bo tapes, but they don't come close to Kathy Smith's. For one thing the music is MUCH better with this tape (thanks to Sony?). I also love Kathy's teaching technique. She starts out by teaching you the different punches and kicks. Then, she migrates to the combination moves, which really get your heartrate up. The only reason I didn't give this tape 5 stars is that I wish the actual workout was longer...more like 35-40 minutes. I usually get pretty bored with videos after a while, but I look forward to this one every time. My husband even joins in every now and then!
Rating: Summary: A great second runner up to Aerobox Review: I was very excited to buy this video after using Kathy's Aerobox video for about 6-7 years now, but as much as I enjoyed it I still have to say that I like the Aerobox more. However, this video is fun and challenging and I would still recommend it to anyone interested in aerobic kickboxing. The cast is energized without being sugary -- no yips and cheers from this crowd -- and as usual Kathy Smith is an exceptional instructor. Keith Cooke is pleasant too, but I found the rapport between Kathy and Michael Olajide Jr. friendlier in Aerobox. One nice surprise was seeing Kelli Roberts working out along with the gang. A MUCH better buy than those overhyped Tae Bo videos!
Rating: Summary: Good Fat Burner Review: This video is a great way to burn calories because it keeps you moving the entire time. I only gave it three stars because I thought it would be more of a kickboxing instructional video (teaching you neat kicks and punches), but it's not. It's just an aerobic-type workout tape. But if you want to drop pounds and you don't mind sweating, than this is the video for you.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your $$ Review: The video is nothing compared to what the reviews that are posted. I was looking for a workout comparable to the kickboxing classes that I take at my local martial arts school. There has to be a better video than this one.
Rating: Summary: Fun workout for most levels. Review: I have enjoyed this video. Kathy does an excellent job of explaining the various kickboxing moves so you don't get injured. Throughout the workout, Kathy stresses that each exerciser should do what feel right for them...don't try to match the instructors kick for kick. I get a wonderful workout, and I enjoy varying my exercise routine.
Rating: Summary: Great Workout! Review: I have been doing Taebo for about a year, but this tape is much better! It is slower and more instructional so you get a better work out. Taebo tapes tend to go too fast and you miss half the workout trying to keep up also the kicks can cause injuries if you do them too fast and too high! This tape slowed me down and gave me a better workout all around, i was sweating more than taebo workouts and i know i got a better workout with Kathy Smith kickboxing! i switch the taebo tapes and Smiths kickboxing tapes for more variety! her tapes have helped me with my stance, my kicks and my punches to make them more affective as well as adding strength to my kicks and punches! I am very pleased with it!
