Rating: Summary: Great workout, Poor production Review: Pros: will DEFINITELY work you out, heavy cardio punches & kicks, decent instruction and motivationCons: terrible production, overly colourful studio, cheezy outfit on Billy and SWEAT all over the place on everyone!! (I dont mind pretending Cindy Crawford doesnt sweat.) Overall, one of the best calorie burners out there. The first workout is more cardio, the second more strengthening. Blanks makes minor mistakes in cueing. It's more like a live, unedited workout that a well-produced celebrity workout. However, if this doesnt bother you, buy it. As a yoga instructor, I noticed people's facial muscles were tensed and stressed throughout the video. This is typical of high-energy workouts that dont take rest & relaxation into account. A workout should not leave one overcharged and hyper, but rather energetic and calm. Keep this in mind if you buy the tape.
Rating: Summary: My favorite workout Review: Tea-bo is, by far, my favorite way to work out. It really gets my energy up and there's no ridiculous aerobics moves to figure out like most cardio tapes. It's great and it doesn't get boring, but maybe thats because I have a bunch of his tapes. Really gives you results if you do it on a regular basis.
Rating: Summary: Every muscle gets it.... Review: The Get Ripped Advanced series are 60-minute workouts that will work your entire body, head to toe, and leave you drenched in sweat! Ever since I started using these workouts, I haven't been able to find any comparable to the intensity and challenge of them. I'm an advanced exerciser, and these tapes are strictly for advanced tae-bo fans. I love how Billy uses workouts that really work every part of the abs, over and over. You will DEFINITELY need a bottle of water during these...yes, his production level is still the low-budget, cheesey type; however, I'm still getting every penny's worth because these tapes are used over and over again; never boring...to me, that's worth more than high production value--forget the mountains, beaches, beautiful music and wardrobes; these workouts are for REAL people of all shapes/sizes, and they will work for you faster than any other workout. Don't be afraid to try them (they can seem intimidating at first); once you get it, you'll stick with it!
Rating: Summary: Chicken girl Review: The video does not have the balance I would have liked; Billy Blanks does not always do both sides. Or, it is more excessive on one side than the other. The worst part of the video is Shelly (short hair, brown two pc. in the first class, turquoise blue outfit in second). She reminds me of a scrawny little chicken. I cannot stand her hollering throughout the video and her gross crotch sweating. The good aspect of the video is that it gets me to exercise for approx. one hour straight.
Rating: Summary: Instructional Videos Review: These videos are great for people who are very much beginners with tae bo or exercising in general. Billy Blanks explains all the moves very slowly, and they are very easy to follow. He carefully shows correct positioning for punches and kicks and gives safety tips. If you are a little intimidated about trying Tae Bo, then this is definitely the way to go; however, I don't think these tapes are necessary if you have some experience. The basic tapes give enough explanation to jump right in and those have a better workout. I went through these tapes once and haven't been back.
Rating: Summary: The production is awful, but the exercises are ok. Review: This dvd looks as if somebody stopped people on the street at random and asked them if they would like to be in an exercise video. The people are uncoordinated and most of them are out of shape, which is really not much of a motivator. Billy Blanks himself looks like he's coming up with the routine on the spot. At one point, he even has to stop everyone and get them to start again because everyone is so off beat. Plus he keeps blabing about how you have to push yourself instead of going on with the exercises, which is really frustrating. The only good thing I can say about the DVD is that the exercises do push you and you will get a good workout, but for enjoyability it gets a zero. You'll probably be so annoyed by the crummy production that you won't want to do the routine ever again. I would much rather do Kathy Smith's Kick boxing routine. The exercises are great and you get the sense that people actually worked hard to come up with an enjoyable DVD.
Rating: Summary: TaeBo II: Get Ripped Advanced Workout Review: This is an excellent workout! It is equally or more challenging than his original Advanced workout. Get ready to burn some calories.
Rating: Summary: You will get ripped! Review: This is the best of Blank's Taebo series. At first I was disappointed that there was no floor work, but he manages to work your abs and butt really well without floor work. I have been doing this workout three times a week for two months and I have noticed new cuts on my stomach (which I thought I would never get again since I just had a child recently) and I have lost 6 pounds. You will sweat and work out every muscle group like never before. Who cares about production quality or sermons when he gets the job done, making you a fitter, slimmer person!
Rating: Summary: very interesting Review: This video is very hard and rewarding. I know when I did the first video, I was very pumped to do more. Its hours a workout and there are two. It hard to do the workout with my three year old but I have to lose the weight bad and Ill do it. Its a great workout which you lose about 800 calorie per workout. Its not that bad when you do about 3x. Its great video to lose alot of weight in minimum time.
