Rating: Summary: For those higher-energy days... Review: I've used two of Leslie's other 4-mile tapes. One tape was made about 10 years ago and there is a more recent one with the Weight Watchers president along for the first mile.
This is her best 4-mile program yet. Basically, after a good warm-up (although with terrible music for the warm-up), the program starts in at a higher pace. The peak workout pace is reached at 2 miles, and actually starts reducing a bit at about 2.5 miles. Contrast this with the two other 4 mile tapes which start off at a much slower pace and get to high gear (briefly) around 3 miles. The pacing for this DVD is much better for a more challenging workout.
The Walkaerobics program has helped me improve my endurance, but I would like more of a challenge without doing anything dancy. This DVD works for me. However, as mentioned the music for the warm-up sequence is annoying, but the music for the rest of the tape is less obtrusive (no vocals!) but provides a good beat.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT WORKOUT!! Review: LET ME PUT IT THIS WAY....IF LESLIE WERE TO DO A NEW VIDEO/DVD EVERY MONTH, I WOULD BE ONE OF THE FIRST TO BUY IT!! SHE IS VERY UPBEAT, ENCOURAGING AND MAKES THE WORKOUT FUN.
THIS PARTICULAR DVD IS MY FAVORITE. YOU GET THE BENEFIT OF A FULL CARDIO WORKOUT ALONG WITH SOME UPPER BODY MOVEMENT. THE SIMPLICITY OF THE STEPS (SIDE STEPS, KICKS, KNEE LIFTS AND KICK BACKS) MAKE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO TRIP OVER MY OWN FEET. THERE IS A "GRAPEVINE" STEP ADDED TOWARDS THE END OF THE WORKOUT THAT ADDS A BIT OF VARIETY AND MORE FUN. SINCE I'VE BEEN DOING LESLIE'S WALKS, I'VE BEEN ABLE TO GET MY BLOOD PRESSURE UNDER CONTROL AND LOSE ALMOST 15 LBS! THESE WALKS ARE HABIT FORMING! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A FUN, BUT CHALLENGING, WORKOUT BE SURE TO ORDER THIS DVD!
Rating: Summary: Easy Tape Review: I am a 39 year old woman who tries to exercize 5 times a week, and I found this tape to be much too easy. My heart rate didn't go up, and I never broke a sweat. I am in fairly good shape, but definitely not an athlete, so I was disappointed that it wasn't a challenge. Not to offend anyone, but I feel that this tape would be best for older people, or those just starting out an exercize routine.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, Easy Choreography Review: OK, to be honest, I find Leslie's QVC and infomercial appearances ANNOYING...so I didn't expect to like her workout. I had read such good things about it in Prevention, and was looking for an indoor solution for days when it is too cold to get outside and walk. I'm a total clutz--so I need easy choreography. I'm also not the fittest person in the world. Actually, Leslie's DVD was the first exercise tape (other than yoga) that I've ever bought that I've been able to complete the first time... with arms! Given that, it's probably targeted towards beginners/advanced beginners. Still, a great workout...lots of fun. The mile meter updates really help keep you motivated. I found it easy to say... yeah, I can do another mile. If you're just startiing out, you can always start with one or two miles...and keep adding. Great tape. Love it!
Rating: Summary: Makes Me Feel Successful with Exercise Review: Leslie is like your good mom who's really fit and sees no reason why you can't be too. She expects you to get off the couch and move, but she makes it seem fun and even easy while you're doing it. How hard can it be when she's smiling and cheering you on the whole time? I felt like a star when I finished the entire workout the first time out. I was sure sweating but I wasn't dying--and I'm 50 pounds overweight. I loved that I could do this workout in a really small area and that the women on screen were real women of all ages. You find out that one of the women who looks to be in her fifties is down 60 pounds and kicks butt doing this routine. The steps are simple so you catch on and feel secure right away. Get it. You'll love it.
Rating: Summary: Great workout but one small gripe... Review: First and foremost, this is a great workout for me, I'd give the workout itself 5 stars. I bought this in the DVD format because I wanted to be able to do 1 or 2 miles then quickly get to the stretching segment at the end without prolonged fast-forwarding that one would need to do with a VHS tape. The ability to do this is a huge advantage DVDs have over VHS format. Most of my workout DVDs have this feature. Unfortunately, this DVD is not formatted that way. You cannot go back to a main menu then select the cool-down stretch. If you want to get to the end you have to step it forward, i.e. fast forward. On my DVD player this is even slower than fast forward on a VCR. So when I don't do the whole workout I do my own stretching routine. But had I known this before buying the DVD I would have bought the VHS tape.
Rating: Summary: British reserve Review: I am English, and a daily home exerciser, and I was looking for something different to add to my pretty impressive DVD workout collection, so I thought I'd try a couple of American things including this. It isn't really a cardio workout, barely offering a raised heart rate, but it remains ideal for me on those days where my back problems prevent other kinds of exercise. Leslie is a very good motivator, BUT she makes me feel so English and uptight with her constant smiles, upbeat constant talk, and constant bigging us all up (I have a similar problem with Billy Blanks: love his stuff, but I come over all British and coy about clapping myself etc). When I initially reviewed this, I said that "I think that after a lot of use, the talk in particular might get really annoying" and I'm afraid it has; I especially hate the way she (often)almost brings her god into it. Part of me still wants to say, "Love those walkers! Hallejua!" but if you want a really challenging cardio workout, or if you don't like the chatty approach, look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Walk Away The Pounds Express Review: I bought this earlier this year and absolutely love it. I have no problem doing the 4 miles at least every other day. Its a great video!
Rating: Summary: Motivating super challenge! Review: If your an advanced exerciser and is used to high impact aerobics, then this video would not get your target heart rate up. But, I elevate my Reebok step to 10 in and walk up and down on that periodically throught the workout. For example, there are alot of step videos that are complicated and using the step during this workout makes it easy on days I don't feel like using my mind. I even make up some of my own moves while stepping but it's similar to the walking moves in the video. Anyways, Leslie is a very motivating sweet person to workout to. She frequently talks about how exercise is very beneficial to one's health and I continue to stay motivated throughout the workout! If your one of those people who just like quiet instructors with music only, DON'T get this video. Leslie talks alot but I like it because she's real motivating.
Rating: Summary: not a bad workout Review: After using Leslie Sansone's Ab workout package, I got the 4 mile super challenge. This workout is my least favorite from the 8 tapes I have bought so far. The music in the beginning is extremely annoying and Leslie is way too fake in this video. Also, I cannot explain why it takes less time to do mile 4 (which is suppose to be more of a cool down) than mile 3 (which is upbeat and energetic). I wouldn't recommend this particular video but I encourage you to get her 3 mile videos. I have been using her videos for 2 months and am happy with the results and with the variety of videos Leslie has. You won't get bored or tired of the same old thing as long as you have more than 3 videos. I recommend buying a new one each week if you see results.
