Rating: Summary: hate this tape Review: 3 words, bad for you. this tape is bad for you. the postures are very strenuous on the knees and back for those who are not practiced, and anyone with irreperable knee damage. the way he sits and on bent knees and rolls around on his spine is only acceptable for someone in the best condition has supreme control out over their muscles and breathing. it is a dangerous tape for anyone else
Rating: Summary: Boring, annoying, and useless Review: Admittedly I have very little experience with yoga, but this DVD bored me to tears. Down, up, down, up, the same motions repeated forty-fold over at a time, then going to two other motions... repeat 40 times there as well. End with a few really bizarre and painful back bends. This was bad enough, but at least I was sweating. Finally, though, I had to give up on this after playing it 3 times because I couldn't stand Rodney's bodalicious surfer-dude voice. That and the fact that he uses the word "pubis" CONSTANTLY. I mean, pick another word for it. Any word. Yuck.
Rating: Summary: GOOD STUFF! Review: Although I wasn't expecting much from an excercise video, I found my first purchase quite satisfying. I have never done yoga before, but I heard a lot of positive feedback on it. This DVD does require a certain amount of flexibily. However, my previous martial arts training has provided me with the endurance to get through this entire DVD. Many of the previous reviewers complained about this DVD not being suitable for beginners... this is indeed true (perhaps because it does not say 'for beginners' anywhere in the description...). But, if you really are a beginner and you want a video that will make you break a sweat, I highly recommend this DVD. =)
Rating: Summary: Know What You're Doing First Review: As a beginning practioner of yoga, I would have appriciated more guidelines as to the proper poses. Perhaps a short section in addition to the actual practice that explained the poses. The videography is lovely, and the workout is fluid, so more experienced folks will porbably love it.
Rating: Summary: Whats the rush? Review: Good quality picture and very nice postures, but you have to be quite advanced to be able to follow Rodney Yee. He is too fast! He knows what he is doing but teaching-wise this dvd deserves only 3 stars... Not recommended to those who are entry level students.
Rating: Summary: Aerobics & Yoga? PLEASE!!! Review: Having practicing yoga for years (not only the exercises, but also the philosophy), I didn't care for this DVD at all. IF you want an aerobics DVD, then by all means get it! I felt the tape lacked in safety (especially when it comes to your back, and DEFINITY NOT for anyone who's ever had back problems.) The warnings are occasionally there, but are usually seem to have been throw in as an afterthought, and at times after doing something that could have caused serious problems. It also lacks the basic principals of yoga & seems to have used to "Yoga" name and a few poses (which are not executed correctly) to promote an aerobics programs that I feel lacks in safety & in common sense health principals... IF you are interested in Yoga, or even really in your health, this DVD is NOT for you! I'd strongly recommend either viewing Patricia Patrick's shows on PBS,buying her tapes which are available through Amazon.com "Priscillas Yoga Maintenance Routine" and "Ready,Set,Stretch" , or waiting for her DVDs to come out very soon!!! I have used this video and was seriously unimpressed... IF you want a cross between yoga and aerobics, try some Tai Chi - you'll get better results and I believe will be a lot safer.. some of the 'bouncing' in this video can do serious harm to people IMHO.
Rating: Summary: not for beginners Review: i am actually not a beginner and i am very strong and flexible but i found this video very strenuous. there was not much fluidity in the movements and it moved very fast. there was not enough time in between movements to coordinate proper breathing and i wound up not feeling very well when i was done. there were some good poses though but i will have to do them on my own without the video.
Rating: Summary: This is easy if you've take 1 or 2 yoga classes before. Review: I bought this on a whim, not knowing if this would be beyond my ability. I've only taken a few yoga classes, so I understand and am able to do basic poses, like downward-facing dog, triangle and warrier, but I'm no expert (no handstands). I was able to follow Rodney Yee very easily. That's really saying something as I am a year past a major knee surgery; while capable, I am very fragile and careful with my knee. After a three days of doing this video, I felt really strong throughout my upper and lower body. I also moved better than I have in years. Go on, buy it, you'll feel better!
Rating: Summary: Very strenous video Review: I bought this video in November of 2003. I have only been doing Yoga for almost a year. It is challenging and I cannot do all the poses, especially the titibasana balancing pose but I have learned, over time to do the crane. Lots of up dog down dogs. It also starts off slow which lets you build up steam and warm-up. I love Rodney Yee.He is cool!
Rating: Summary: Great workout! Review: I enjoy working out with Rodney's videos. I find them solid and well balanced. Lots of variety of postures and good flow overall. I mix this workout with Mark Blanchard's Progressive Power Yoga series throughout the month. While my wife and I prefer Mark Blanchard's instruction more than Rodney, we both agree that Rodney is a great instructor and make sure to use his workouts for variety. Lots of downward dogs and flowing postures. Not for the weak of heart. We heartily endorse this dvd and believe that everyone can benefit from power yoga...you just need to unroll the mat and give it a try.... then you are hooked.
