Rating: Summary: A Great Reference Video for Instructors Review: Superb! This video is a fantastic reference for instructors to study and view each of the original exercises individually. It is very technical and complete. I use it often to polish my cueing techniques and form. Quality of video is pretty low budget, but it works for it's purpose. My only wish is that each exercise was on it's own track, (instead of grouped) so I don't have to forward through a bunch to find the one I'm looking for. This video is not meant to compete with Crunch or Denise Austin. If you want a video made specifically for your home workout. Try a one of Moira Stott's video's instead. Sara (Pilates Instructor)
Rating: Summary: Too much hype Review: Before I committed to a class, I bought this DVD with the hopes of experiencing true pilates. Unfortunately, the beginner and modified beginner 'routines' were just a few minutes long, with no real workout. The real workout comes with the advanced section, which has no options for the novice. The moves were expertly executed, but there was too much talking. And, the word 'powerhouse' started getting on my nerves.
Rating: Summary: A very technical, traditional pilates series Review: This is really what Pilates was meant to be. It assumes you have some background in working out with a Pilates instructor as it does not do into the specifics of many position details. That is an important consideration for people who are new to Pilates. The Modified Beginner and Beginner workouts are very brief. It is not until one gets to the Intermediate series that a full mat workout is achieved. No variations are offered for an exercise to those starting it for the first time. Biomechanics are not discussed at all. This is a very good workout for those already familiar with Pilates but I would not suggest it for beginners with no instructor experience.
Rating: Summary: Life changing Review: For two years after a serious car accident, I lived with all sorts of pain until I started the Pilates routine. It worked magic. The stretching and strengthening of all the right things were just what I needed. By keeping up with this regularly, I'm 99% pain free. Roberta
Rating: Summary: Good for Everyone Review: I'm in my 40s, a little out of shape, and have a family. here's not much time to workout. I've heard of Pilates, and I've seen magazine articles about Pilates for a couple of years. There was only one magazine article that was about men's fitness and Pilates. When read it, I learned that Pilates was actually a man's name, and that Pilates workouts were rigorous. So I decided to give it a try. I looked for instructors online, and did some research because I wanted to take lessons from someone who really knew Joseph Pilates' exercise program. I found someone who studied Piates in New York City, and this teacher recommended Classical Pilates videos. Hand in hand, this video has be a great compliment to studying this very challenging workout method. I definitely learned that Pilates is an excellent workout for men, and there are a lot of exercises designed for men. Pilates workouts have given me a new lease on life. I really get into the lessons. My family and friends notice that I have more energy and stand taller. Another thing is that the workouts are interesting. I never get bored.
Rating: Summary: The only Pilates DVD you need Review: This DVD is fantastic. I never understood how pilates flowed and I never understood how quickly the routines could be performed. If you think pilates is boring and only for women this will definately change your mind. The only other resource I would recommend to use in conjunction with this DVD is Brooke Siler's "The Pilates Body" which follows the routines given in this DVD exactly with more in-depth explanations. I started with the beginner modified basic which only takes about 5 minutes and I have made great progress since. If you're interested in starting pilates mat work get this DVD and the book and save yourself a lot of money and time. This is the only pilates product worth getting. Well done!
Rating: Summary: This is the best Review: I love this Pilates DVD. You can just pop it in, and do all of it in about 10 minutes. If you want a longer workout, play that section again. It moves at a good speed- not TOO fast, but you definately don't lie there waiting for the next one to start. I love it.
Rating: Summary: Changed My Life Review: I just wrote a reivew of another Classical Pilates'DVD "The Complete Magic Circle Mat Series & Reformer Mat Workout" because I have been having a lot of fun with both of these fine instructional videos. The magic circle workouts build upon this DVD in very instructive and enjoyable ways. It's challenging to add the magic circle to each exercise, and I feel the proper muscles working so deeply. I believe these DVDs help keep me on the right track as far as studying the RIGHT KIND OF PILATES. Because, as I understand, Classical Pilates shows how Joseph Pilates originally practiced his method, and how he taught his students. This gives me confidence that I'm doing the right exercises in the right ways. I feel so much better because I do the mat workouts 3-4 times each week. My body has become more slender, and I have much better energy than before I started using these DVDs as home instruction.
Rating: Summary: The Most Traditional Pilates Is The Best Review: I admit it. I've been a Pilates fan for the past several years, and have taken lessons with many instructors. To practice at home, I purchased several Pilates videos, but this DVD is the most challenging. I really love it, have been able to grow with this DVD program as my workout improves. The people who put this Pilates video together are serious about keeping the method traditional, which is important to me. The performers are super focused and precise. They also make the Pilates method fun to do. And the master instructor verbalizes his teaching extremely well. All in all, I give this DVD 10 stars!
Rating: Summary: Greatness Review: This is one of the best videos I ever got from amaz on. It is fun, instructional, and made a real impact on my life. It was equally as impactful as "Awaken the Giant Within" by Tony Robbins, and the dvd "New Sex Now" which revealed the pathway to life's ultimate pleasure. I love non-fiction
