Rating: Summary: great workout and fun too Review: I love this tape you get a really good workout and feel great afterwards, plus its a fun way to get in shape.
Rating: Summary: I need more! Review: Billy Blanks is a genius! I have been doing the Tae-bo workouts for almost a year and am still not tired of them. I am healthier and happier and of course, look better. I only wish his new live workouts were available on DVD. They are clearer and much easier to jump around in.
Rating: Summary: Here's what I do Review: For those of you who think Basic is too easy and Advanced too hard, may I suggest do the 8-minute workout first then the second half of the Advanced which contains the floor exercise. Total time would be about 30 minutes only. My friends and I (all mothers) do this every other day and we're now one size smaller !
Rating: Summary: Hard work and a lot of fun. Review: I own the Tae Bo Basics video and although not an exercise video fan, love this particular tape. It is amazing just how much you can sweat in 25 minutes! My boyfriend is a very fit runner and when I challenged him to join me for a session, was puffing and blowing almost as hard as me. We now do the tape at least three types a week together. Billy Blanks is a down-to-earth, encouraging instructor of the highest quality and his class too, is refreshingly diverse. The moves are very different and empowering and as often as I do this class, never become bored by it. Now I eagerly await the challenges of Tae Bo Advanced...
Rating: Summary: Pure fun Review: I thought this would be a complicated tape, but Billy makes it all so easy. He is very good about being safe when working out, and the workout itself is fun.The instructional tape is a must before you try any Tae-Bo, it will show you the proper way to punch and kick so you don't hurt yourself. The Basic tape is a good workout, and the Advanced and 8-minute are super!
Rating: Summary: An Unpleasant, Unnatural Workout Review: I saw the infomercial one hundred times before I bought the tapes...now they sit on my shelf. I found the movements in the workout to be unnatural and jerky. I am in good shape and I had a hard time keeping up with pace of the movements, especially in "double time." I never got to the advanced workout...not because of the strenuousness of the workout, but because of the inhuman speed Blanks requires for you to keep up. It is dizzying! It was a good workout, but I think it would be really easy to pull muscles and strain joints from the movements. The fact that Billy Blanks always stresses "proper form" worried me. There is even a pre-workout video to show you proper form, although I never fully understood how to keep form given the speed of some of the movements. My advice: find a treadmill and listen to your walkman while you run or walk. You'll get a healthier and more pleasant workout!
Rating: Summary: Caution: You may actually begin to LIKE exercise... Review: I've tried several aerobic workouts, but have never found one I could stick with for more than a week or so. I got bored. Despite this, I decided to give Tae Bo a try. I'm glad I did. I'll admit I'm only on tape 2, but I am now able to go through the entire workout without wanting to hurl a heavy object at the TV. Not too shabby. I did the first tape several times before I attempted Tae Bo, something I STRONGLY recommend. (By the way, if you're having knee or elbow problems it's most likely because you're overextending--you might want to go over video 1 again) I'm happy to say that six weeks after beginning this tape I'm still excited about using it. My upper arms look better, my abdomen looks better (I recently had a baby), I've lost fifteen pounds (also watching my diet and walking 2 miles a day)and I even breathe better (I have exercise-induced asthma). Oh, and it's the ONLY video my husband will even consider doing with me!
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: The 1st tape is just the basic moves, but necessary if you are not very coordinated. 2nd tape is a really good start into the Tae Bo world. The 3rd tape "kicks" butt! It is a very gruelling work out and I can barely make it through the whole hour, but that is because they sometimes go just too fast (double time). Don't stop, just keep going at normal pace. I recommend this to anyone looking for an ALL over workout and Cardio conditioning!! And you don't need a whole lot of space to do it!
Rating: Summary: back/neck pain Review: I like the video and think it could really work, but if you have a soft back and tough knees it could put you in some pain. Since I've started the tapes I've had back and knee pain because of all the kicking in the videos.
Rating: Summary: Tae Bo Review: I really enjoy doing Tae-bo. But if you are an experienced athelete, I would not waste my money on the Instructional and Basic videos. My advice- RENT them from your local video store. Also I would stretch on my own before the video as it doesn't do much with the groin and other muscles.
