Summary: LOVE IT!
Review: Our kids are 9 months old and three years old and can't get enough of this video! (I'm getting a bit tired of it, though!) The music is fabulous and the scenes are beautiful. My three year old had definitely learned the names of the various hsapes taught in the video.

Review: We really enjoy Baby Einstien's videos but the newest, Baby Newton is very different from past productions. There are too many computer graphics and the main "character" scares our baby. It seems very inpersonal and uncreative. I think they "sold out" to Walt disney and did not retain their charm and innocence.

Review: After reading some of the reviews I did not have very
high expectations for this video...even though we
are rabid fans of the Baby Einstein videos.Wow, was I surprised after watching it...it's great
and my 2 and 4 year old boys both love it. The video still
has the puppets and classical music which we have
long appreciated, but the addition of animation
surprised us. My boys really responded to the animated
clown and love saying the name of the shapes as he
pulls them off the wall. My 4 year old draws the
clown over and over again. I agree that this video is a bit of a departure from the
previous ones and it definitly skews a bit older but
that is a good thing for me since my kids are slightly
older as well. I'd encourage anyone who has a little one over 18 mos.
to try this video...I'd also love for Baby Einstein
to make the clown into a shape toy. A Pasadena Parent

Summary: Why mess with a good thing?
Review: My 20-month old son loved the other Baby Einstein videos - and we loved that they were simply done, and that he had learned a lot of words and animal names very quickly, and had fun doing it. So, when we got our new DVD player, we thought that this one would be great, too - we were wrong! He wasn't nearly as entranced with this as he was with the other videos (we couldn't get him to sit still to watch it for even 5 minutes in a row). There are more songs with words (not appealing to my toddler unless he can jump around and sing with it - and the lyrics aren't very clear, either), there is less classical music, there are lots of slick computer graphics that give it a modern feel instead of the charm that the other videos had, any connection to "real world objects" has been abandoned, and the DVD itself didn't have the one feature that I love best about DVDs: scene selection. I was looking forward to the fact that my son could watch his favorite parts and skip over others - and this DVD didn't even have that. It has a "video tutorial" that is nothing more than a Baby Einstein commercial (the same one that's on their other tapes) - very disappointing! It also lists a running time of 49 minutes, but about 20 minutes of that is music only (not a bad thing, but it shouldn't be listed as "running time" on a DVD). I spent about an additional [money] for the DVD instead of the video, so I was doubly disappinted.

Summary: we really like the changes!
Review: While the newest video from Baby Einstein is certainly different, my kids love it! The addition of the animation is interesting to them, and certainl not overdone. The music is as great as always, and the real world shapes that are in the video are interesting to look at. While some of the reviews here aren't as good, I still think lots of babies will love this one.

Summary: not the best baby einstein but still a great video...
Review: I own all of the others on DVD but since my son is now 21 mo old and outgrowing the concept somewhat(he likes stories now), I picked this up on VHS for very little $ at our local... [store]. It absolutely entrances him, and he was asking for this particular one over all of 30+ DVDs/tapes he has after just one viewing. I missed seeing as much of the children, but he loved the clown/animations, AND it seems educationally effective since he now points out and names several shapes circle, triangle, etc. everywhere he sees them around the house after just three viewings. I hate rewinding, so I am picking up the DVD from amazon after all :-) strangely enough he has picked up some concept of color from this one too rather than from the van gogh video, since I point that out as well while we watch. I do agree, selling to Disney and adding all that production has added nothing to the series concept. But hey, as 30 minutes of unexceptionable toddler entertainment, it works!

Summary: Not as good as the others, but that bad
Review: If I had never seen any of the previous Baby Einstein videos, I would have thought this video was great. This one lacks what made the others unique - simplicity and charm. It has animations (which are not needed). It still has puppets (lion, duck, dog, horse). It has some classical music. It's just a little slick and is missing the charming personal element of the orginal videos. It makes me sad that the originality gave way to animation. BUT, my 20 month-old loves it, so what else is there to say?

Summary: Still worth it
Review: We also own all of the Baby Einstein videos. My 2-year old son adores all of them (including Baby Newton) except for Baby Einstein. I am glad that I did not heed the negative reviews. My son was an instant fan of Baby Newton and asked for it over and over again for days. As a parent, I do agree that the classic Baby Einstein series was better left alone. Both my son and I enjoy the kids, and puppets from the other titles in the series. However, I am happy that we chose to purchase this title as it is still good for 1/2 hour of undisturbed adult mealtime.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Baby Newton is nothing like the original series (i.e., Baby Bach, Baby Mozart, etc.) ... My 21-month absolutely loves the Baby Einstein series. We bought her the Baby Newton, and she could care less. She doesn't giggle, she doesn't dance and she doesn't sing to this one. In fact, she'll pop it out of the VHS and grab a different tape! I'm very disappointed with this one.

Review: I too have all the Baby Einstien DVDs and was so excited to have a new one. I was greatly disappointed to see the departure form the usual format including a loud shape song and less puppetry. I had thought the animation would be a plus but it sure wasn't my 2 1/2 year old, 18 month old and 8 month old were quickly bored and went on to other toys.
