Summary: Jeff Porcaro's Instructional Video
Review: I believe this is Jeff Porcaro's instructional video, which was previously released on VHS (STARLICKS Master Sessions / Hal Leonard). If you are a Jeff Porcaro fan, this is somehting for your collection. I've found it both entertaining, and as a drummer, very intersting to view.

The stage is set with 3 musicians, one of which is Jeff at the drums. Jeff endorsed Pearl drums and Paiste cymbals. He walks drummers through several of his most famous groves, including those he applied to Toto's tunes "Rosanna" and "Mushanga." I think the value here is for drummers to realize that, if you slow the timing down to understand the coordination of limbs falling in certain sequences, you can pick this up. But obviously, Jeff's playing was much more than that.

There was a time that I would pick up an album and bring it home and hear a familiar drum sound and then to look at the liner notes to find Jeff Porcaro listed as the drummer.

While speaking, Jeff seems to sometimes have something in his throat, and it is a bit prominent. But, overall, I would have otherwise given this a rating of 5 stars because it is Jeff. At the same time, he seemed to be talking just after he had some spicy lunch, and this seems to distract from the brilliance of what would otherwise be an exceptional video.
