Review: This DVD fails. Baby Einstein doesn't even appear. Sure, Pinwheel had personality. But just when his story got good, Strobing Light took over. If I want to watch Strobing Light, I'll stick to Pokemon thank you!Best ever!

Summary: A Great Paranting Asset
Review: My daughter was only 3 months when we started playing the video for her. She loved it. She hadn't started laughing continuously until she saw this tape. She was so mesmerized by the tape she didn't move. Even on a floor full of toys. We have found this great for Allyssa and her Uncle (who has special needs) to work with her. He tells her what is on screen and they laugh about it or he makes up songs. It has been wonderful. And I know she is watching somthing that is good for her developmentally. The whole family gets a chance to sit with her and tell her what they see as well as watch her reations to the great characters and music.

Summary: DISAPPOINTING
Review: My wife and I had heard so much about the Baby Einstein series that we bought this DVD without actually watching it first. The pictures and toys shown are cute but I find that they should have used the CD's potential to a maximum. For instance I thought that you would be able to change the language that was being spoken but you can't, the pictures go from one language to the next and you really don't know what you are listening to. It would have been better if you could change the language, that way one day you could listen in english the next in spanish and the next in french, etc. And in order to get from one menu to another is a real headache, the instructions tell you that it can vary from one DVD player to another but still it's ridiculous. My sister-in-law has some videos of the other tapes and so we've decided to watch them first with our daughter before buying them. So if you don't have someone with the tapes just go to you're local video store and rent one before you lay down the bucks for one of these tapes. We have since gone with good ol' Sesame Street tapes/DVDs and the action in these are just what the doctor ordered, they are fun and our little girl loves to look at the screen with these.

Summary: She wasn't interested
Review: I believe I made a mistake in ordering this DVD for my granddaughter. She was absolutely not interested. She is 17 months old. I wonder if she would have been more interested at 1 month old. I was very disappointed myself. Real animals and real babies are of more interest to children her age.

Summary: 2 month old loves it
Review: My husband & I bought a 12 box set from...thinking that our 2 month old daughter would not use them for a few months, since she has shown no interest in the TV. I wanted to see what the Language Nursery was all about. Our daughter was fascinated by the DVD. She didn't watch it for long, but the only thing she does do for a long time is sleep. We try to have her watch atleast part of the DVD each day. She will even "talk" back to the TV while it is playing. We like the fact that it introduces different languages to babies/children. Parents can even learn right along with them. We will do just about anything to help or daughter develope her mind.

Summary: I think this DVD is great investment !
Review: Too many parents discredit this video because what is on the screen doesn't correspond to the audio track. But the first and foremost intent is to expose babies to sounds of foreign language and so the visuals (simple, bright and contrasting colors) are used only to keep baby's attention. Also, these types of visuals are good for brain development. I've read many books on child development and it has been proven that children exposed to foreign sounds (along with of course good development in their native language) are more likely to have an easier time in not only learning the foreign language but speaking it with minimal accent of their native language as they can much more easily differentiate (both audio and verbal) between the various sounds of all languages. My favorite part of the DVD is the language lab which exposes babies to sounds of several languages.

Summary: not appealing to the ears
Review: I was very disappointed with this tape. I own many others which incorporate music with pictures, but this tape did not make any sense. Since I (the parent) sit with my child while watching tv, the baby einstein company could at least match up the language with the picture. The languages seemed to pierce my eardrums like the volume was off between the music and voice. I didn't understand why there would be a poem being spoken with the background of three lines. It never held either my attention or my childs. I actually got restless waiting for my computer to print out the translation from the cd. I returned it the next day and bought neighborhood animals instead. It seems we do better with the other tapes that have music and animation. That keeps the interest of my child. Better luck next time I guess.

Summary: Hit or Miss
Review: My son never showed any interest in the Baby Einstein (Mozart, Bach, etc) series. Though we exposed him to it a few times, it rarely kept his interest for more than 3 or 4 minutes (if that long). He was much more interested with watching a tape showing baby faces and their expressions. He'd sit through that entire tape. I think the Baby Einstein concept is good but I think it is hit and miss with each individual child.

Summary: Baby needs to be older
Review: Being multinlingual parents, we wanted to expose our 5 months old daughter to multiple languages as well. As it turned out, she was totally disinterested in the program. I think it would probably be more interesting for older children. Though, a colleague of mine with 18 months old twins said that they weren't interested in the Language Nursery either.

Summary: Flawed concept
Review: I have been buying the Baby Einstein series (on DVD) for my son, starting with the excellent Baby Mozart, and moving along the series as he gets older. This one certainly caught his attention, and he seems absorbed in it, even though I can't figure out what's going on most of the time. As an adult, I don't understand why I would be telling a child something, regardless of language, and be showing him video images that are totally unrelated to the audio. If we're saying "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in German for example, we should be seeing related images of stars. This is not the case in this DVD, and I find the anomalies incomprehensible and unnecessary. I don't mind him hearing the many different languages, but I try to show this one as little as possible, because I don't want to confuse him. The other features that teach vocabulary are a much better bet, and I try to stick to those instead of the main attraction.
