Rating: Summary: Better than the book Review: This a really fun and informative little video. My toddler loves both the animated segment and the music video segment! It is an updated version of the book-the potty in the video looks like a potty and not like a jug (which is what it looks like in the book), and even more importantly a father is shown as changing diapers and participating in the training process! I highly recommend the video, but not the book.
Rating: Summary: More harm than good. Review: This is absolutely one of the most moronic videos I've ever seen. Nothing but condescending baby-talk and inane chatter against a background of really poor animation. When Prudence (who has unnaturally round, red cheeks like her sterotypically sketched mom) bent over and showed her bottom while the narrator explained that she had "a hole for making poo poo out of", my husband and I fell off the couch.Equally annoying are the potty chairs (which I've never seen in any store) used in the video. They're one piece jobs and not only are mounted differently than your standard potty chair, the entire sitting position is different and that can be confusing to a child not using that exact same kind of chair. The kids in the video are happy to demonstrate how the one-piece chairs are fun to use for hats and push toys, inspiring my daughter to try the same, which has in turn required me or her dad to put her conventional potty chair back together more times than we care to count. Oh, and did I mention that her interest in using the potty has actually LESSENED since watching this video?
Rating: Summary: So good that I am buying it again! Review: This is an excellent video for kids. It allows you to start potty training education early by holding the attention of younger toddlers, as well as being entertaining to older children. My son loved it, and now I am buying it again for my daughter. A must have. It starts with a cartoon child getting the potty as a present. Then it shows that the child trys to use it many ways, until they learn through a series of accidents and successes how to use the potty. They make sure to stress that accidents will happen, and this is ok. Then the video changes to a catchy tune showing real children dancing to the music and sitting on their potties. It is amazing how quickly they start singing with the video while sitting on their own potty for more than 5 minutes!
Rating: Summary: Some twee with your wee... Review: This is awfully, terribly cute. I bought this for my daughter because my son enjoyed his so much. She likes it even more than he did. No, she's not potty trained YET, but she's just 2. The boy version, though, did help my son, who was trained about a month before his 3rd birthday (we didn't try any sooner because we knew we were going to move). It is very corny, though, especially the lyrics to the potty song. And the advice for parents at the end can be watched once or twice, then skipped. I recommend buying the book that goes with this.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious!! Review: This is the very first potty training video i have ever bought or seen, so I was not quite sure what to expect. I watched it first when my daughter was asleep. Quite frankly it just cracked me up. I couldn't wait for my little one to wake up so she could watch. If anything I figured she would have fun watching it. As soon as she saw that little poo poo and pee pee on the floor she cried "YUCK" and went running looking for her [child's] video. So there you have it. A 23 month olds take on it. :-)
Rating: Summary: Not the best Review: This probably isn't the best potty learning video out there, but it seems to hold the attention of my 2yr. old. The beginning of the video starts with shots of real babies and some music, which gets the attention of kids. Then it goes into a cartoon of Prudence, the girl learning potty, explaining the parts of her body and what the parts do. Of course, saying that she has a "hole for making poo poo and a pee pee for weeing" isn't the best terms...I think it was probably simplified for a child to understand. So, if this simplification bothers you, don't get this video. This video could have been better if some of it were shot using real children sitting on a more realistic looking potty, but if your child is ready to learn it'll sink in.
Rating: Summary: Daughter likes it but I sure don't Review: This video is only 13 minutes from the start to the end of the children's part. That 13 minutes includes a lengthy musical introduction, the story, The Potty Song (which is amazingly catchy and amazingly annoying--stuck in my head for a whole week--I woke from SLEEP singing it!), and then the end credits, which are quite lengthy, and in which the babies from the Potty Song are pictured and named. The copyright is in 1990, but I am positive the video was made much earlier than that. The animation is cheap and very old styled. The font used in the end credits is PAC-MAN! which to me, puts it back around '83. I bought this video solely based on the opinions of other Amazon-ers, but would buy something newer, something longer, something more detailed than this if I had it to do over. My daugher likes it, but I'm sure she'd have liked a newer one as well, and might have learned more (how to pull down pants, etc.) had we gotten another video. Plus I wouldn't have this annoying song going through my head!
Rating: Summary: Once Upon a Potty for Her Review: This was a great video for my daughters! They both enjoyed it very much! They loved to clap their hands and sing along to its catchy tune! One more than one embarrassing occasion I was caught singing the song myself! I was lucky enough to have found the gift set which came with a video, a mini potty and a small Prudence doll. Two thumbs up for this very inventive practical potty teaching aid!
Rating: Summary: Worked for our 20 month old daughter Review: We aren't yet toilet training our daughter, who's almost 2, but we bought this video and potty just to introduce her to the potty concept.
The video is annoying, and the shots of the babies putting their potties on their heads set a bad example, but our 20-month-old daughter watched the video a few times and started to demand to use the potty. She's certainly not toilet trained, but she's successfully used the potty at least a few days a week every week since we've bought the video.
So yes, the video is annoying to parents, but parents aren't toddlers. Toddlers who don't have a lot of videos and are ready for potty information could get a lot out of this video.
Rating: Summary: once upon a potty for her Review: We bought this book, and my daughter loved the book. I thought the video might make more of an impact, so I bought that too. It didn't really do any good. She likes to watch it, but she doesn't enjoy the potty song at the end of the cartoon, and the cartoon is only about 8 minutes long. I would buy the book again, but not the video.
