Summary: Not up Baby Einstein Company's usual standards
Review: Like other parents of infants & toddlers I was very excited by the release of a Baby Einstein video with a holiday theme. Unfortunately this one just does not hold my baby's attention in the same was that others do. In fact, my preschooler (who enjoys watching the videos with my infant daughter) remarked that Baby Santa was 'boring.' Some of the main elements, which make the other Baby Einstein videos successful at engaging the attention and delighting infants, are not in this video. The Baby Einstein 'formula' usually includes a dynamic classical soundtrack interspersed with other sounds. The music / soundtrack is enhanced by the visuals which include short clips of kids, toys and other moving objects, and puppets - later videos include some nature scenes. The visually stimulating toys and other real world objects are just not included in this Baby Santa to the extent they are in the others. The soundtrack which is a primary source of fascination for infants, especially in Baby Mozart, Baby Bach, and Baby Van Gogh is not up to par: Baby Santa's score is a thin rendition of some carols without orchestration - in short - it is quite boring. There is much more emphasis on puppets and the 'kids' which just does not hold the same level of attention. If you are new to the Baby Einstein Company's videos and are looking primarily for a video which engages and enhances development, I would highly recommend Baby Van Gogh. Baby Van Gogh has high production quality and corrects some of the oversights in earlier Baby Einstein Company products (like ethnic balance among the kids, for example). It has enjoyed the greatest longevity and highest entertainment value of all of our baby videos - probably because has a really dynamic soundtrack and superb visuals. If you are specifically looking for something with a festive mood to add to the collection of videos for little ones, I would recommend Hap Palmer's "Baby Songs Christmas." Baby Songs Christmas is mixes some traditional carols with new songs and really 'homey' clips of kids (mostly). After about 6-7 months, my infant daughter started to enjoy this series, and we were all delighted with the Christmas video.

Summary: Brilliant!
Review: We have all the Baby Einstein videos, and my twins love them all. Baby Santa's Music Box is a great, non-denominational video that shows my kids really happy holiday scenes and, like the other videos, has awesome music that we all can tolerate and enjoy. Great nature footage of winter animlas, too! My boys love the new one...I HIGHLY recommend it!

Summary: not as entertaining
Review: My seven month old son loves the "Baby Mozart" video. I thought for sure "Baby Santa's Music Box" would entertain him. I was surprised to find that "Baby Santa's Music Box" barely held his attention while the "Baby Mozart" video holds his attention the entire 27+ minutes. I found the characters adorable, but they didn't pass the test for my son!

Review: I was very excited to see that there was a new "Baby Einstein" video out with a Christmas theme! After watching the video with my 7 month old and 4 year old daughters, I was disappointed. The video did not seem to keep their attention as much as Baby Mozart. I was expecting the video to be more "vibrant"! I've purchased Baby Van Gogh for my daughters for Christmas but haven't viewed it yet.........so far Baby Mozart is still the favorite!

Summary: Magic Will Fill The Holidays!
Review: We have the complete library of the Baby Einstein VHS tapes and are so excited about Baby Santa! Our children enjoy the colorful, entertaining and educational aspects of every single product they make..the children's ages range from 1 to 12. The older children enjoy the music and the unique toys, while the younger toddlers and the baby can't seem to look away for more than a few seconds! Every minute of these videos is mesmerizing! There is absolutely no doubt that Baby Santa will fulfill our every expectation of visual stimulation and musical entertainment for the children- just as all the others have...

Review: I am glad I didn't buy this as my first Baby Einstein movie because i would have never bought another one again. My son loves the rest of them but this one was just not well done at all.

Review: I purchased Baby Santa's Music Box for my 2yr old alittle while ago to get him prepared for Christmas. He likes the Baby Einstein line (we've got 6) but he only asks for 4 of them and this isn't one of them.. It's boring for older children, just a bunch of random images. They should change the age to 9m - 18m.
If your child is older I'd suggest buying Jingle Bell Baby by the Small-Fry company (the people who make Baby's First Impressions and Brainy Baby). Usually they use classical music in their videos but in this Christmas video they sing actual Christmas songs, there are tons of kids (as usual) and interesting segments. In one they've got a trip to the candy cane factory and it shows how candy canes are made, how to make snowmen and snow angels etc. They stick in tidbits of education but the main theme is Christmas. My son received this video after Thanksgiving and has watched it 2x a day every day since I've bought it. Money well spent on Jingle Bell Baby (though I do wish it was availible on DVD, it's only on VHS), a bust on Baby Santa's Music Box.

Summary: Disappointing compared to other Baby Einstein DVD's
Review: Cannot even compare this to the rest of the Baby Einstein collection. Obviously a low budget project that was quickly put together to capitalize on holidays. For the price, I would suggest ANY other Baby Einstein DVD - Baby Macdonald is our personal favorite. We have at least twelve videos/dvds from this collection and truly LOVE each one. Baby Santa the only dud.

Summary: Great for very young babies
Review: After reading a few other reviewers reviews of this item, I decided to write my own. Mainly because those that reviewed it a bit negatively were reviewing it for older children. This video is meant for those under 6 months of age. Baby Einstein videos are all geared for specific age ranges and this is true with this DVD. My son LOVED this DVD from 7 weeks of age until about 5-6 months of age. He's now watching the Baby Neptune and Baby Galileo and Baby MacDonald ones which are meant for around 9 months. I still occasionally put this one back in and while he still likes it, it's not as captivating as it was when he was in the intended age range for the video. I highly recommend the video for those under 6 months of age. We watched it even when it wasn't the holiday season. There's great close ups of babies and children smiling directly into the camera and my son would smile right back as if the children were sitting in our living room with us. I'm very pleased with this purchase. I own the entire collection and I think this is as mesmerizing as any of the others...so long as it's for the intended audience.

Summary: Bah Humbug!
Review: I couldn't wait for the holiday season to arrive so that I could play this DVD for my son. He loves the other DVDs in the series, especially Baby Neptune and Baby Galileo. Baby Santa's Music Box on the other hand, is not so well liked...not by my son, my nephews, or myself. In my opinion, it just doesn't seem to live up to it's potential. Think of all the wonderful, amazing, and magical things that go along with Christmas and the holiday season - alot of it is missing from this DVD. Sure, there are some things included that pertain to Christmas on this DVD, but there could have been so much more. To me, most of this DVD looks like just a bunch of random images thrown in to fill up the time. How many times did they really need to have that reindeer puppet pop in and out of gift box? How many irrelevant scenes were included so that Julie Clark's kids could play a part? This DVD could have been so much more, but it misses the mark by a long shot. Don't even get me started on the music. Of all the beautiful Christmas songs available, both secular and non-secular, they could have had a much better selection to say the least. In general, I am sorry I wasted my money on this DVD. Who knows, maybe my next child will want to sit through it.
