Rating: Summary: Waste of time and money Review: I've been dancing for about 6 years and consider myself to be a fairly good dancer. But this tape offered little to no help. Not only were the rather large female backround dancers annoying they were also discusting. Darrin's feet were cut out of most of the video so you really have no idea what they are doing down there. Another annoying feature were the interviews that graced this dvd. Darrin said that he didn't choose dancing, dancing chose him........well Darrin I'm afraid dancing made a wrong choice. Kiddies don't waste your money!
Rating: Summary: I thought it would be really cool Review: I thought it would be a really great video cause it looked cool on TV but i read some reviews and stuff and also the Hip Hop Shop had a lot better reviews too so i haven't seen the video but i would probably get the Hip Hop Shop if i were you.
Rating: Summary: Ok so it's not JUST me. Review: I really thought this video was very hard to follow. I thought it was just me because I am not the best dancer in the world. Darrin goes way too fast, not just that but he doesn't really show you how the steps are done/broken-down. Also it is very confusing the way he is facing I got confused just trying to figure out what was my right/left vs. his right/left. So I would not recommend this video to anyone who is trying to actually learn how to dance like this.
Rating: Summary: Not for beginners Review: The positive reviews must be shills for the video company, because no way can a teenage girl pop this into the video and start dancing. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad video. It's just very difficult for a beginning dancer. I have been taking hip-hop classes for over a year, and I had a hard time following this tape. There are two major problems. First, Darrin is shot facing us, so to follow his moves, your brain has to transpose his actions to the opposite side. I kept having to rewind to figure out whether he was using his left or right arm or leg. If he was shot facing away from us, then we could follow his moves more easily. The second problem is that some of the camera angles cut off the legs. That makes it hard when you're trying to determine what leg he's stepping out on. That being said, you can learn the steps as long as you are patient and keep rewinding and doing the steps over and over and over again. Darrin goes through each move twice and says "Got that? Let's move on." But the reality is you need to run the steps ten, twenty, thirty times before you get the hang of it, especially with the quick pace of the music. The Britney Spears "Crazy" dance steps are the easiest. I actually was able to do the routine in an evening. NSync's "Bye Bye Bye" is another matter. It will probably take me weeks to get through it. So don't expect miracles. But with a lot of work and patience, you will get something out of the video.
Rating: Summary: A review from an [age] year old girl Review: This is a great DVD even if u cant dance fast Darrin goes slow so you can keep up and learn. If you think you are not good dancer this is a good DVD for you because it will teach you all the coolest steps and you will look like a professional in no time. Also if you want to learn the stars' moves it is great too.If you practice with the movie you will soon be able to do it in a snap.I reccomend it to anyone that want to learn some cool dances or needs to brush up on dancing. It is an awesome DVD!
Rating: Summary: The Low Down on Darren's Dance Grooves Review: The energetic advertisement for Darren's Dance Grooves along with the sprightly celebrities of collaboration were enough to make me purchase this DVD. However, looks can be very deceiving as in my case. The actual "dance grooves" one learns are merely the chorus sections of "Crazy," "Bye, Bye, Bye," "Give It to You," and "Digital Get Down." The actual instruction is too hasty, not specific, and shot at inconvenient angles that ultimately confuse you while you are trying to learn this amoebic mesh of bodily movement. Along with the instruction, I was also inconvenienced with the pointless, superficial interviews of Darren, which should have, for the sake of mankind, been deleted and replaced with more thorough instruction of the dance moves, and more OF them to say the least. I spent [amt] on a DVD that should have been entitled: "Darren's Superfluous Drivel and --oh yeah-- Some Dance Stuff."
Rating: Summary: The best thing on Earth Review: IT shows you how to dance. and he reviews so u can learn how to dance. He breaks it down to help you learn how to dance. He helped Nsync, britney spears, and jordan mgnight to dance.
Rating: Summary: Darrin's dances rok Review: We loved this video. We learned to dance like the proffesionals ! We saw the comercial on tv and we knew we had to have it ! When the video came we popped it in the vcr and started dancing. He taught us sooooo much !!! Thanks Darrin !
Rating: Summary: Good but Moves Fast Review: This is a very good video and has very good choreography, but at times moves a little quickly. It does give you a good workout because of its challenge and isnt a video that you will only watch once, but many times in order to perfect your dance skills. I think that it is a good investment for anyone who is interested in dance and is a challenge for people of any skill level. Darrin also talks about the different styles of dances which was quite intriguing. I would recommend this video to others.
Rating: Summary: Great....If You are already a dancer Review: I found this DVD to be rather....hard. I am not a dancer by trade so I figured that I could just pick it up by watching the tape. It goes really fast and hitting the last chapter part of the dvd got really annoying after awhile. Do yourself a favor, keep pretending that you know the moves cause it will cause less frustration.
