Summary: A not-to-be-missed piece of art for your children.
Review: As a children's librarian I have used this film with every age group. In pre-school storytimes I cue up the track of Jeremy Frog leapin and we leap with him. Or we put down plastic plates and dance on them with the Two Bad Mice. The sweetness of the photography and the excellence and accessibility of the dance make this a first purchase for any library OR family. Do not miss this! And of course read Beatrix Potter's books too!

Summary: Looking for the Soundtrack
Review: I am looking for a copy of the soundtrack.

It is the Peter Rabbit, the Tales of Beatrix Potter by John Lanchbery.

It is wonderful child's ballet class music.

Summary: Delightful for all ages.
Review: I had seen this ballet on TV when I was a child. At the age of 18 I attended the Royal Ballet School, now I am a teacher. I always wanted to see it again. When I found it on Amazon I was "jete-ing" for joy. I have shared it with my ballet students. It was especially great to see Sir Frederick Ashton as Tiggy Winkle. I attended his memorial service in London. He was a fine man. Everyone should watch and enjoy Ms. Potters stories told by the dancers.

Summary: Absolutely enchanting!
Review: I have seen Tales of Beatrix Potter on TV and have never forgotten it. Pure enchantment and suitable for all the family. The animals are danced by members of the Royal Ballet to great effect. It is definitely a MUST BUY! My only regret is that I am unable to find a video compatible with UK video recorders.

Summary: completely delightful
Review: I love music and find myself huming this ballet over and over. I particularly love classical music. This mixed with the Barbie Doll that I have is a legacy I will pass down to my grandchildren. I even cross-stitched The Tale of Peter Rabbit with the original pictures from the book and all the words. That is a special book I look foreward to giving future generations. Suffice it to say - I'm a HUGE Beatrix Potter fan.

Summary: Tales of Beatrix Potter
Review: My children would not sit through this video even once. There is no narration and the characters all wear masks--thus masking their facial expresions. Unless the children are very familiar with the stories, the plots are not clear. Many portions are very slow paced, with little humor.

Summary: Wonderful into to Ballet or to Beatrix Potter
Review: Our 2.5 year old never really warmed up to Beatrix Potter's wonderful books until this video came along. Now Jeremy Fisher, Peter Rabbit, and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle are all time favorites. A couple os spots may be a little scary (Fox pushing Jemima Puddleduck's head in th epot on the fire, The owl biting off Nutkin Squirrel's tail, and th etwo bad mice tearing up the doll house). It is done beautifully, and is a great family watch.

Summary: completely delightful
Review: Several of the previous reviewers captured the essentials well so I'll just add a couple of points. I too saw this at the theatre when it was first released (I was 11 or 12) and was delighted and deeply impressed. The music, choreography, costumes, masks and outstanding dancing all fuse together perfectly and with a light touch, capturing the charm of Beatrix Potter's stories. The music is brillent: based to a large degree on traditional English tunes/dance themes and employing a musical idiom simultanously boisterous and refined, it perfectly reflects the high spirits and (often silly) dramas of the country animal characters. My three year old daughter is delighted by this video and asks to see it over and over again. It does not matter that some of the stories are not perfectly clear; she understands the essence of each and is captivated. As she watches it frequently, I have seen it many times recently and its appeal endures. I give this film highest, highest marks.
