Summary: enchanting
Review: excellent version of the andrew lloyd weber classic cats, may she rest in peace on broadway. it has to be happiest cutest musical ever made. great for the little ones if you want to get them started on musicals. ellan paige reprise her roll as grizebella and does a wonderful job. all the charaters come alive with the light and airy lyrics. somber at points but overall a happy ending great musical.

Review: Make-up and costumes are great. Lots of dancing, some of it not so great for kids. If I never hear "Memories" again it will be much too soon. The T.S. Eliot book is better.

Summary: What happened to Growltiger?
Review: I liked this dvd, but I saw the Broadway cast perform this, and the very best part was Growltiger - what happened to that scene in the DVD?? I can't believe they dropped this very excellent, pivotal act from the movie!!!

Summary: CAN'T STOP WATCHING!!!!!!!!!
Review: This really is a truly talented musical, all the music in it will keep you cheery.....except maybe for Memory. The only thing i am not to happy about about was the editing of "Growltiger's Last Stand". It could have been on here, there was no reason for it not to be. But I guess the reason why i gave it five stars was because it was hard for me to not to put less than five stars! Anyway, this is a VERY good musical and i HIGHLY recomend it!

Summary: CATS is the best!!!
Review: I can't stop humming the songs, and I can't go one day without dancing "Macavity". My Favorite cats are Mistoffolees (Jacob Brent) Demeter (Aeve May) & Bombalurina (Rosemarie Ford). Rumpleteazer (Jo Gibb) Is another favorite of mine. And when they make mistakes, I just want to watch it more because it gives me hope (I'm sorta clumsy). For passover, all I wanted was CATS on DVD!!!

Review: After hearing about Cats forever, I finally decided to find the commemorative edition and see what all the "meowing" was about.

What I found was superb costumes, high energy dancing and an interesting second video that showed what went into the making of Cats. I actually enjoyed watching the documentary and maybe I should have watched it first. What I failed to find was any real plot. I also found it hard to hear the words in some of the songs. Finally, I recognized "Memory." That must be what made this show so "memorable."

The costumes were skin tight and quite provocative and "some" of the dance was almost bawdy (see other reviewers who noticed the same thing). I was wondering why parents would buy this for their children? This seemed to be a very adult version, but then again, people go to the circus.

Since I never saw the original show, I have nothing to compare this too. As the longest running show in Broadway, it ended on September 10, 2000. Overall, I felt that the dancers were excellent and if you think of what went into the production, that alone is amazing.

Rumpleteazer was the most beautiful cat and her makeup is worth seeing. Victoria is also stunning as a white cat. (Which is a lucky color for cats). They show how they transformed the dancers into cats and go behind the scenes to show the makeup application in the second video. If you are a Cats fan, you will want to see the second video for sure.

Well, most "cats" have no plot in their lives either, they simply just enjoy life. If you go in expecting to see a elaborate plot, you will be disappointed. Perhaps I should go read T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" so I will understand this video more. While I have read some of the poems, reading the entire book might be a good idea before purchasing this video.

If you love cats, you might also want to find a book called CAT by Juliet Clutton-Brock here at Amazon. Allia Zobel also has the cutest books which are just laugh out loud funny.

Summary: Fond Memory
Review: Having seen the original cast version in London more years ago than I care to remember I was enthralled by the DVD version. Conclusion better than the original because of the closeups.

Summary: Masterpiece of a Musical!
Review: Cats on tape has captured the essence of Cats on stage, and even better, cause you are now up close and personal with the different cats. You can admire the wonderful make up jobs they all have and the wonderful costumes that had so much time spent on them. You can observe the relationships and the personality of each cat more closely now. I have to admit, the performer that really grabbed my attention in this video has to be Jacob Brent. He is the best ever Mr. Mistoffelees I have ever seen! He pulls off the character very well, making adorable faces the entire time as my fave kitty :) Michael Gruber's voice is amazing, I even started crying when I heard him sing the song "Old Deuteronomy". The Rum Tum Tugger (John Partiage) is the best I have ever seen, all attitude and so hilarous! Jennyanydots is so much fun to watch during her song, she has the puuurfect facial expressions as a cat! The dynamic duo, Mungojerrie (Drew Varley) and Rumpleteazer (Jo Gibb) are so much fun to watch during the entire video. Their crazy antics during the show is the main comic relief. Ken Page as Old Deteronomy was MADE for that part! Overall, I was really impressed with this job well done. Only bad thing is that they cut out "Growltiger's Last Stand"! What's with that?!? That is one of the best songs on the soundtrack! Also, they cut short Jacob Brent's Mr. Mistoffelees dance! Sorry, that is a crime against our beloved Jacob! I want to see him twirl like he does on Broadway! Those are my only complaints though. :)

Summary: Now and Forever on my video shelf!
Review: Not being able to see the actual musical before it closed on B'way, this was about as close as I could get and BOY, was it good! Now, I've said before that no one would EVER get me to see this musical, and now it's one of my favorites. You see, spandex+ dancing = scary... but anyway, great music, AMAZING dancing (Namely Victoria, Invite to the Jellicle Ball(And I know how athletic you've gotta be to dance to Jellicle Songs for Jellicle cats)) and... er... ok costumes (sorry, the spandex still gets to me...), awesome set, and (I'm running out of adjectives) supurb singing! A MUST for any serious theater fanatic (namely... me! Oh, and you too, Erin...)
