Rating: Summary: Not Like Julia Child Review: I find Lidia's cooking interesting and learnable, but her narrative very boring. Her monotonous voice lulls me to sleep.
Rating: Summary: Love Lidia!! Review: I respect her love and admiraton of her culture. Not to mention her recipes are GOOD... try the Monk fishballs! I like her voice and her accent and her narrative (unlike what you'll read in the other review). She's real. She's not a stand up comedian or talk show host, she's a chef who's teaching her craft. No she's not Julia and it's a good thing... I love Julia but
we don't need two Julia's. She's Lidia... wonderfully Italian and through her perspective I've learned alot about Italan culture. Thanks for sharing, Lidia!
Rating: Summary: Good home italian cooking -- with recipes Review: This DVD contains selected episodes from Lidia's Italian-American Kitchen series shown on public television. Aside from a nice selection of dishes, the one main extra it has compared with the TV series are actual recipes for all featured dishes. That is a welcome addition as the TV series did not contain any ingredient quantities & measurements as you had to buy the book for more. As such this DVD stands on its own. While I would have appreciated the addition of at least one veal dish (veal scaloppini...), the recipes presented are a nice variety and a must for every fan of the show and of Lidia. It makes for an easy reference that you can return to at any time.
