With a title that sounds borrowed from a promo for the feel- good five o'clock news, It's Not Your Fault You're Fat places the onus of being overweight squarely on our fast-food society. Health and nutrition expert Gary Null weaves together sound bites from a handful of doctors and other authorities. Segments cover fast-food alternatives, fad diets, the "ultimate lifetime diet program" (think cleanse and detox), and exercise. Some of it is old news ("sugar is the feeder of obesity in our society") but much of it is a reminder of the need to individualize programs. Testimonials from real people give the program additional substance, especially one by a still grossly overweight man who's lost what looks like a couple of hundred pounds by embracing "juicing" and moderate exercise.
