Review: I bought this video and because I opened it I could not return it. The salsa lessons were too short and looked like ballroom dancing. I did not learn anything useful.

Review: I have no idea what Cal Pozo is trying to teach, but it's not Cuban salsa. I live in Miami, and I've taken salsa lessons from two instructors, and the dance Cal Pozo does has absolutely nothing in common with the dance I've been taught. For example, the basic step in Cuban salsa is from side to side; you pick up your left foot, step to the left, bring your right foot to the left, put it down briefly beside the left foot, and then you step to the right with your right foot and bring your left foot over to the right. Cal Pozo does some bizarre thing that takes four steps to each side.Pozo teaches none of the "turns" that make up real salsa. If you do the real thing, you learn turns called "Exhibela," "Dile que no," "Sombrero," and so on. Pozo doesn't do ANY of these. If you study his tape and then go to a salsa club, you'll look like [funny].

Review: I have several other dance videos. This video is extremely basic. Some things are very clear. But at the same time, he keeps going over the same things with different variations. This method is repeated all through the video. The tape is almost useless from that point of view. Once finished all you do is go in 4 directions.

Summary: Just what I was looking for!
Review: I loved it! I learned to dance salsa and merengue with confidence. The lessons are each very short. If you are a fast learner, know a little already, and don't let the lady's shapely legs distract you you can whip through the DVD and be dancing in the clubs in an hour! The section for Merengue seems very short, but they packed a lot of steps in those lessons. Maybe they thought it was easier to pack it all up instead of breaking them into more sections. Review: I sorta bought this one by accident. I don't even like Latin music (though I dig Latin ladies), and would not be able to get into the groove of things. I guess for others, this tape would be okay, but for me, nah, not my thing...

Review: I was very disappointed. This is as basic as it can be. Though lessons are short, the instructor repeats it again and again as if he is in a real life Salsa course. You not need to be a fast learner, to get the steps in the first or second time as they are basic. The too long repetitions are annoying time consuming and boring. If you are slow learner like me you could replay the episode again and again on the DVD, until you get it. The hip motion is a good tip, and was well demonstrated, but to it was unnecessary too long. The Macarena lesson, was fun, but took a major part of the video. I bought Salsa &Merengue instruction video, and not Macarena. I believe all the lessons could have been edited into 20% length without compromising the value of the lessons. I did not feel I got my money worth , and when the video ended, I was looking for the missing 80%.

Summary: Basic traditional steps
Review: It is a Very basic but very detailed video. This video teaches traditional Salsa as done by hundreds of millions of Hispanic's all over the world. This Salsa step is necessary for those of you who want to dance with Hispanic's or to go on to learn Cumbia or South American Nouveau Flamenco dance. I must point out that Cal is an average dancer at best. His friends or students on this tape are terrible. I laugh ever time I watch them. The music is not great but it is the techniques that make this video worth buying.
