Rating: Summary: Don?t waste your time and money Review: I thought that I was purchasing a DVD with instructions on how to TAKE digital photos, with information about picture balance, illumination considerations and techniques for special effects. Wrong! What I received was the following: Two DVDs encased in two slim transparent jewel cases with no cover, instructions or standard DVD packaging. The instructions were presented by a man standing behind a table and behind him a big computer monitor with a picture of him and his wife. He never left this place. · The information that he provided had nothing to do with taking pictures but instead dealt with using computers, peripheral equipment and software. He dealt with such things as creating folders, selecting groups of files with the shift key and other basic computer features that any computer user should know. You get the same information that you could read in the first few pages of any digital camera, peripheral equipment or software manual that you own.The DVDs contained the following chapters: Disk 1: Introduction Uploading Images (a description of the memory cards that are used with the Cannon digital camera and the purpose of a USB cable) Software Options (how to create folders in the Cannon software and upload pictures to it) Display Settings (How to go to the Control Panel and select a picture as wallpaper, duh) Printing Photos (praises the excellent quality of printed pictures and talks about the tiny heads of inkjet printers, I couldn't finish this chapter so I do not know what else he talks about) Disk 2: Specialty Papers (information that you could get by reading the back covers or instructions of specialty papers that are available for purchase) Editing Photos (how to use this feature with the Cannon software) Adding Sound (how to use this feature with the Cannon software) Burning Photo CDs (how to use your Windows XP software to burn a CD) 3 in 1 scanners (how to use your scanner to scan a hard copy picture) Flat-Bed Scanners (how to use a flat-Bed scanner) Personalized Items (how to upload a photo to a website and order a ceramic coffee mug)

Rating: Summary: OK for complete beginner to digital photography Review: I was hoping this DVD set would provide siginificant coverage of creative and 'pre-shutter' technical aspects of digital photography. I was expecting significant information on white balance adjustment, lighting options, etc. Instead, it is a primer for thoses with virtually no experience using a digital camera. If you already know how to copy images from your camera onto your computer, open them in any photo editing software and print them out, then I doubt you will find this DVD set very useful. I suppose it could be useful if you are currently intimidated by digital cameras and want to understand the basics of how to take a photo and print it out with your home computer.
