Summary: It was alright,.......
Review: I agree with the others , only half of this so called "documentary" was real ....I think the alligator attack was what makes me think that. I havent seen the rest of the series but since everyone else thinks they're better than the original i guess i'll have to rent them .

Summary: Faces of Death
Review: I do not agree with most people, I believe that this film is 100% real footage. Why would someone put half real, half fake footage on a documentary. Can we all say documentary, documentary means it is documented, this means real. This movie is a splatterfest of real blood and beheadings, it is not meant for the kind hearted and weak stomach person. If you love gore, pick up a copy now.

Summary: Beatiful and Educational Carnage.
Review: YES!!!!! Please don't let it stop

Summary: A Landmark Film - but all fake!
Review: Now, listen carefully. Unlike it's sequels, this original 'Faces of Death' is almost entirely made up of fake, hoaxed footage. Granted, the animal footage is mostly real, and there are a few actual suicides, but everything else, from the electric chair execution, to the pathetic decapitation, is fake. After all, just ask yourself simple questions when watching. For example, "How come they get so many camera angles when there's apparently only one person filming?". You'll soon realize it's only a clever fake.

However, this film is excellent. It is an unintentional comedy classic. Dr. Gross is hilarious, and anyone who's got a sense of humor will love the soundtrack - (Old MacDonald to headless chickens? Brilliant!). So, my advice? Buy it! Watch it! Love it! But please don't think it's real. If you do, then you're falling for the trick the film-makers (all of them actually Japanese) designed for the video-fodder market.

Sit back and enjoy!

Summary: Why????????????????????????
Review: Movies of this genre are sick and disgusting, why any one would watch them more than a few minutes is beyond me!..........The only good reason to buy this movie is to record over it.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not everything you see in this real
Review: Half of the death you see in this is fiction, because not all of it is meant to be real its meant to be entertainment.

Summary: Use some sense here, folks.
Review: You hear the repeated clamorings. . . "Faces of Death" is REAL! SHOCKING! HORRIBLE! If it's so real, then why is it selling unbanned? The film community has a hard time getting Dario Argento's work available in America, and we KNOW it's staged. Just take a second to think about it . . . you can see this ridiculous high-school bragging right at a drive-in somewhere in America almost any weekend of the summer . . . what community in their RIGHT mind is going to show true wholesale murder and mutilation to the public? We may be on the close side of Roman, but we're not there just yet. The only snuff occurring here is your wallet . . . and any semblance of respect the makers of these films would have ever had for you. If you want cheese, stick with Kraft . . . at least it's quality cheese.

Summary: Faces of Death - Good Old American Fun
Review: Whether or not the content of the movies are staged, there is no substitute for party films. These films are not only entertaining, but they are a reminder of the freedom that every American possesses to rent video captured executions if he pleases. For beautiful, for spacious skies, for crimson tinted executions.

Summary: The grand-daddy of the sicko films
Review: You have "Faces Of Death" to thank for (not so innocently) spawning today's trendy "Fox World's Most Shocking..." and "Banned From Television" shows and videos. In 1978, "FOD" was probably the ultimate in "mainstream" mayhem. Today, it looks even more like hokum than when it first appeared, due in part to the "Banned From Television" series' focus on true -- not staged -- realism. Amid the very real, unstaged and bloody animal butcherings, grisly autopsy footage, and the occasional accidental death narrowly caught on film, are some very funny, completely staged "faces of death." This, led by the famous "alligator attack" scene. Bad acting, bad editing, sound effects, narration, music cues...it's all here! If you appreciate BAD movie-making, you'll feast on "Faces."

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: The best in the series
Review: This is the best in the FOD series It has some fake scenes, but so does all the FOD films (exept nr.2) The music and overall style make this one better then the others FOD 4 is the only one that even come close to this classic
