What is there not to say about the X-Files? It is one of the most recognized TV series of this decade, and its transition from the small to the silver screen is seamless. Mulder and Scully, flawlessly performed by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, are FBI agents, who on the TV series pursue paranormal, non-mainstream cases for the Bureau. In the movie, their interests are widened to a global conspiracy involving aliens, a shadow government, and an elite group of men who may hold the fate of the world in their hands. Wonderful special effects, including a larger-than-life alien ship, vast Anarctic landscapes, and fantastically believable alien beings all add to the movie. The relationship between Mulder and Scully is highlighted in this movie; a few scenes between the two characters illustrates their close relationship and caring for one another. Duchovny and Anderson have a rare chemistry and their intelligent, teasing banter is one of the best parts of the film. The movie is filled with mysterious characters, suspenseful scenes, and is action-packed from the slightly rocky beginning to the climatic ending. The DVD edition is wonderful. Behind the scenes clips and commentaries from the creator and producer, Chris Carter, and the director, Rob Bowman, are very informative and vital to all X-Philes. It is not necessary to be a watcher of the show to understand the movie, even though the mythology of the show is long and involved; in fact, the movie has turned many a non-watcher into an avid fan of the show. This is a great movie for fans and non-fans who love a sophisticated, thrilling, action-packed movie with elements of science fiction. Be warned, this is not the typical summer blockbuster.

Summary: FIGHT THE FUTURE made me a fan
Review: I watched this movie without ever watching an episode of the series before. I came into the movie only knowing that the main characters were FBI agents Mulder and Scully who sought the truth about aliens and government conspiracies that tried to cover up their existance. That was all I knew, I didn't know anything about the black oil, or the bees, or even who the Smoking Man was. This movie did a good job presenting the basics so a first timer (like myself) wouldn't feel totally lost while watching it. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were superb in their big screen roles of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. The hallway (I think you know what I'm talking about!) scene was one of the best scenes of the movie. Now if only there was no bee.... Overall, this movie was X-cellent. The acting was great, the special effects were cool, and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat. I recommend this movie to anyone who has ever watched The X-Files and loved it, and also to anyone who hasn't seen an episode before but likes sci-fi movies. And I'd just like to say thanks to Chris Carter and crew for a really good season 6 - here's onto season 7, unfortunately the very last one. I'll be looking forward to the next X-Files movie, I can't wait until it comes out!

Review: Although people who didn't watch the show up to this point won't get as much out of it, they should still enjoy it. But the fans are who this movie is really for! We get so many answers to so many questions. And they we're left with more questions! This movie answers a lot about the black oil, and some on Mulder's sister. The plot is well-written. The fans couldn't ask for a better X-Files movie! This movie took place between seasons 5 and 6 of the TV series. The special features are decent. Nothing much, but interesting to watch. Great movie, good DVD.

Summary: The X-Files movie, an astounding creation
Review: The X-Files movie is yet another example of Chris Carter's stunning brilliance. The actors seem to not just play their roles, but actually live them, drawing the viewer irretrievably into the movie. The chemistry between Mulder and Scully was awe inspiring, pulling the movie together through the quest of a friendship deeper than love. Mulder's struggle is a timeless battle to which most individuals can relate. Fighting something larger than themselves, a conspiracy to withhold from each the simple justice of truth. The special effects reached the closest to perfection since Star Wars. It's realism drives the viewer to the edge of their seat. Gripping the sides to resist being pulled into the spacecraft and ripped apart by the black oil's alien descendents or falling through collapsing ice as the craft beneath takes flight. The film also provided treats for Philes such as the appearance of the beloved Lone Gunmen and tidbids of clues to the ongoing storyline. However, it's plot was detailed enough that even newcomers to the wonderful world of the X-Files could not only understand, but become hooked on it's very concept. It simply requires a bit of intelligence to keep up with Carter's intricate web of conspiracy. In following the X-Files, I am continually amazed by this man's creative genius.

Review: If you have never seen an episode of the hit sci-fi show The X-Files, there is no need to worry; the movie is just as enjoyable without the show's background as it is with. Combining special effects with a joyride of suspenseful sequences and a very involving and thought-inducing script, The X-Files is one not to be missed by fans of the show or those who always wanted to watch the show but never found time for it. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson star as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, who, in the event of a terrorist bomb destroying a building in Dallas, begin to suspect that there was an underlying subplot beneath the reasons for the explosion. As they begin to make their search into different areas and places, they stumble upon many different people; some they can trust, some they must be wary of. The tension keeps building throughout the film as they come closer and closer to reaching their desired answers. The two leads brilliantly portray their characters, who go through just about everything in their search. The storyline takes many twists and turns, some of which may require a large attention span to figure out. For the most part, most of the answers are solved at the end, except for the very end, which is supposed to lead into the next season of episodes. Very entertaining and highly suspenseful, The X-Files delivers everything you want and more.

Review: Here we go: The X-Files movie. When I bought it, all I knew was that it took place between seasons 5 and 6. But upon watching it, they didn't really take anything from the last episode of season 5 and put it into the movie. Like the little psychic boy, Gibson. But that's ok, as Fight the Future is a great movie that all X-Files fans will enjoy. And, as everyone keeps saying, people who've never seen the show can get into this and not be lost in the sea of the plot. Sure, the movie is pretty much a longer episode, but would you want anything else? I wouldn't. And the movie isn't a stand-alone deal, it comes into play with the main plot, which answers a lot of questions. One of which being the origin of the black oil. I was really surprised to see where it came from. The writing, as usual, is fantastic. The characters don't reintroduce themselves to us old fans, but they explain (very cleverly) who they are and why they're where they are to new fans in the snap of a finger. And the special effects were better than any movie from that same summer pretty much. UFOs and trains don't look the least bit CG for the most part. Mark Snow, of course, provides us with an excellent soundtrack. It's a lot more epic than the series. There aren't many special features. You get a half hour behind-the-scenes look at the movie with some short interviews with the cast. Of course there's the staple in dvds: theatrical trailers. And we get three of them here. But there's also the commentary. Chris Carter man, don't do a commentary like this again. You just spoon-fed us what was going on the whole movie. "This is where Scully talks to Mulder on her phone" isn't anything special. At least he said a few smart things here and there. One of which is the official word that a certain someone is dead in the series. Plus he tells us that there are going to be a few more movies to continue the series. So that's cool. But the commentary...I seriously almost fell asleep a few times while listening to it...at 3 pm...after drinking 3 cans of Mountain Dew. I only have two small complaints about the movie. One being that the editing in some scenes is kind of sloppy. Watch the scene with the bees when Mulder and Scully evacuate the base, and you'll see that she puts her shirt over her head about 4 times. It's not for a repeating effect of drama or anything either, it was just bad timing on the edit. The other would be that some of the bigger characters of the series (Skinner, The Lone Gunman) are in the movie for probably a total of 10 minutes, if that. Other than that, I thought the movie was awesome, and I look forward to the future X-Files movies that are coming out to expand upon the series.

Summary: Movie and Series
Review: ...not just movie. See when I first saw the movie I was hyped by the phenomena of the X files. Though, I had never seen a single series. And, I was totally lost. I remember watching the movie with a sense of 'duh' on my face and in my mind. Yet, after I was introduced to the series the movie took on a whole new life. I understood everything and everything made sense. Since I was able to watch the series, along with the movie in order of the precedent it was meant to be seen, I felt extremely privileged to finally be apart of the whole X files mania. Even the last remaining seasons took on a new dimension for me. I thought the movie was great...in the context of the seasons. Without them, however, the movie will seem lackluster. Now, why did I give the movie four stars. Well, because it is a good movie. It's ambitious and funny, and the two actors playing the role believe in the characters they are playing. You can see this through out the movie. Also, the movie is made very well. The camera action and storyline are engaging. Seriously, it's a good movie. Don't watch trying to understand, just watch because it's a good movie. Yet, if you want to understand everything then buy or rent the movie.
