Summary: From those misty times...
Review: Cames a legend. I simply adored the books and theres is not a year that passes by that I fail to re-read the books once more. Unfortunately, the movie does not do them the rightful justice. Altough they followed the four books almost to the scratch, I daresay that, good as it may be, and it really is, the mists deserved at least one film for each book, so that justice could be made to Marion Zimmer Bradley and her outstanding vision of Avalon.
Despite this, I must admit that the film is quite extraordinary. The interpretations of the three principal characters are quite remarkable, Anjelica Houston is the perfect Viviane, as I had pictured her when I first read the book. It is marvelous how they pictured those times, the intrincacies of the characters, just how Marion described them so long ago.
All in all, it gives me the wish of returning there and perhaps find the Godess Mother in the same way both Viviane and Morgaine found Her.
Perhaps.

Summary: Excellent Story
Review: This is one of the best stories I have ever seen, the actors, costumes and hair styles are all exquisite in their detail of this magical time. Great entertainment for anyone interested in the times of King Arthur and the Knights of the round table, as well as mysticism. Well done!

Summary: Myth and Magic
Review: Fabulous performances especially from Julianna Margulies, Cinematography by Vilmos Zsigmond and a excellent score from Lee Holdrige make this a wonderful retelling of the king Arthur legend with all it's Myth and magic. Although it was made for television on DVD it looks and sounds superb and is told far more convincingly than the larger budgeted and more celebrated "Excalibur" .And that scene stealer Merlin is kept under control too, making this a far more believable version of the Arthur story, from the womans point of view by the way,and based on the book by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

Summary: key elements were changed!
Review: I was soooo disappointed with this movie which I was really looking forward to as a big fan of the book. What upset me the most is that some of the most important turning points were fundamentally changed and others left out altogether. Obviously the book is a huge epic and not everything couldn fit in, but what went in was badly chosen. Each character has a few key hurts or ambitions that drive their actions but these were not explored. I thought that there was a lot more focus on battles than in the book, I would have preferred more of a look into the priestesses lives and rituals than the battles. Also, Merlin was weak and in the background. So, I hate to be so negative but it frustrated me and had me shouting at the tv (should I admit that?) "but there's no reason to portray that event like that, you've missed the point!!" If you have never read the book perhaps you will enjoy it. Lets hope so.

Summary: A favorite book of mine
Review: The Mists of Avalon is a terrific book... a little slow to get started, but once you get into the book a bit it really sucks you in. You know how it will end, but it is the getting there that is fascinating. Very well-written; recommended by me to every avid reader I know!

Summary: So breathtaking!!
Review: You guys this movie was so incredible. I didn't even know about Marion Zimmer Bradley until i saw this great film. My God!! Avalon is so beautiful. After I saw this movie, I had to buy her books. The original book is one of my favorites, but I also recommend: Lady of Avalon, The Forest House, Priestess of Avalon, and Out of Avalon. Overall it was great. The costumes were charming and very delicate, the scenery was so gorgeous, and Loreena Mckennit's - The Mystic's Dream is a great choice made by the Director of the movie because she is a wonderful singer with harmonious celtic songs. Take it from me, if you really like Arthurian legends, even though he kind of seems to be a wuss in the movie, you'll really love this movie because the Priestesses rule, not Arthur.

Summary: Not too shabby
Review: This movie didn't WOW me. The scenery looked like it was out of a fantastic dream. The acting was decent. The music was excellent, I love Loreena McKennitt. The plot was good. But let me give you some advice, don't watch this with the kiddie, oh no. Bad choice. If this movie was rated, I'm not sure it would make PG-13. Keep that in mind.

Summary: Read the book first!! Then watch this mini-series.
Review: I reveived the book for my birthday about a year before this came on TNT, and my friends and I waited in anticipation to watch it. When it was all said and done, the person who set up the story board butchered the story! While the first part is fairly close to the book, the second part was ripped to shreads and clumsily pieced back together leaving huge holes in the story, some of which were necessary to the plot! If you are going to watch this mini-series, read the book first. It is much more enjoyable. On a better note, the costumes and actor choices were great. If only they hadn't messed up the story.
