Summary: Windbags at Warp Speed
Review: I'll start off by saying that I am a long time Trekkie and I actually prefer "The Next Generation" to the original series. That said, "Insurrection" is easilly the worst film of any in the Star Trek series. It is also a collosal disappointment next to the previous entry "First Contact," the best of the Next Generation movies. The biggest problem is that F. Murray Abraham is one of the wimpiest villians Trek has ever ever had. Khan, for example, could have kicked his butt with one hand tied behind his back. The second problem is that the plot itself is a snooze. The Enterprise crew goes out on a limb to save a bunch of the dullest supporting characters they've ever run across. But ultimately what does this film in is the lighthearted tone that drains all of the drama right out of it. The "Next Generation" cast has always been far too earnest and serious-minded to be entertaining when they try to lighten up. Ultimately, this is a movie that all but the most ardent Trekkies will likely hate. Here's hoping that the next entry in the series will be a return to form.

Review: Let me start by stating that I am a die-hard Star Trek fan. But this movie was just...horrible. I don't know where to begin. I gave this movie two stars, one for the simple fact that this movie is Trek, and another for the superb acting. But regardless of the latter, this movie has nothing going for it. The story all together is terrible, and unrealistic. How come the Baku look EXACTLY like Humans? How come the planet looks EXACTLY like Earth (besides the fact that it was shot in the Canadian Rockies :)? This movie felt more like a mediocre episode than anything else. If you want to see a good Trek film, buy The Wrath of Khan or First Contact.

Review: The "RULE" is that even numbered Star Trek films are good or at least better than the odd numbered ones (Personally, I liked the first Trek film). I did'nt think this film was that bad. It could of been better of course but I enjoyed watching it and hey, you got to finally see the Captain's Yacht in action.

Review: When I saw this "Trek" film in the theatres, I almost fell asleep in the theatre. No Action. Barely any plot. No intense character interaction. Out of all of the Star Trek films, this one really bit the big one. The movie was that bad.

Summary: Another Good One!
Review: With First Contact Paramount proved that they had figured out doing Star Trek on the big screen (though they still were having a bit of trouble getting the comedy part right). With Insurrection they did it again. To top off the exceptional plot and above-par writing Franks (director/Riker) has demonstrated mastery of Trek-humor. There is no blatant slapstick -- instead it is replaced with a rendition of the HMS Pinafore (complete with a Disney-esque bouncing ball to point to the correct word in the song. Insurrection has an excellent plot, deals with tough choices (mostly Picard's), and really comes off as a great movie. I'm not sure if it can compete with First Contact's Borg -- but it, at least, is a close second!

Review: I have always enjoyed the Star Trek series immensly even though it is not what I would consider great science fiction, haveing alway felt that they cheat on some of their moral arguments. But before this movie, this series had been blessed with a form of consistant quality, that makes it easily the best series of its kind. This movie simply has a terrible plot. It has more holes than substance, with none of the basic storylines holding up to any kind of coherant thought. If the movie was more of an action movie they might get away with a little of this, but not here. This movie is based on the worst kind of moral absolutism that the TV series sometimes fell into. The crew desperatly over reacts to every situation so that they and they alone can solve this problem using the brightness of their halos. Sorry, but instead of thinking that they are these really great people, if I were the federation I would court-martial them for stupidy, which is what the authors of this script should face.

Review: I love the Star Trek franchise just as much as I do Star Wars, but after viewing this movie it's obvious my priorities were not in order. The stroy is very weak and I have to agree with others that this is merely a TV episode. I don't know how/why Rick Berman let this story get green lighted. Save your money.

Summary: Is this movie really that bad...............................
Review: ............YES! This is a horrible movie to be avoided at all cost. I have really enjoyed most of the Trek movies, but this one is awful. I was banging my head in disgust while viewing it in theatres. By the way, the theatre is the only time I have viewed this mess of a movie. I have vowed to never watch it again. I have never made this type of vow pertaining to a movie before now! Insurrection had perhaps the lamest villians in Trek history, a race called the So'na (actually, I hesitate to call them an actual "race") obsessed with vanity and face lifts! Ughh! They would force this other race, the Ba'ku, off of their planet so they can have this veritable fountain of youth to themselves. Even more ridiculous is a Starfleet admiral who is willing to help them accomplish this ridiculous goal. Planets are big, why was this even an issue? For that matter, what is with these incredibly stupid names (So'na, Ba'ku) with apostrophes in the middle of them? The characters are all given things to do, but unfortunately, they do not advance the plot in any way what so ever. The only thing that I found remotely amusing in this mess was the ceremonial head piece Picard had to wear at the party for the delegates, that was a laugh (the only laugh, I might add). If you like watching women talk about their refreshed breasts, then this is a movie for you. Picard and Worf engaging Data in a sing-a-long has to be the most ridiculous scene in any of the movies. Ignorant to say the least! The special effects are also below standard. The beautiful Enterprise-E featured in First Contact is reduced to a plain, flat, dull model zooming around some computer generated nebula. It looks awful. The Enterprise hasn't looked this bad since Ferrin & Associates took a stab at the special effects in Star Trek V. The flying things which were zapping everyone weren't even lit properly in order to match the surroundings, resulting in a cheap blue screen type effect. I knew that we were in trouble when Rick Berman stated that they were going with a different effects company other than ILM due to them having their hands full with Star Wars Episode 1 (which is 100 times better, I might add). In the end, I found Star Trek V The Final Frontier to be more entertaining than this slush. This movie does not measure up to the series, as many have compared it to. It doesn't fit into continuity, thank goodness, so we can pretend like it never happened and go on to the next one. I don't know if Berman and company are capable of making another quality movie, so I can't get my hopes up for #10. I have heard it is going to be another action/comedy adventure. We all know how well this combination has worked in the past (sarcasm intended). Jonathan Frakes has porven to be a really good director (many episodes and First Contact), when given the right material, so fire these current writers and give Frakes another chance to redeem himself. Under Bermans control, I have no remaining faith in the movie franchise. Stick with parts 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and Star Trek The Motion Picture director's edition, in other words, true star Trek!

Summary: Not what i expected from paramount pictures!!
Review: If your a true trekie you will still like this film im sure, but this movie doesnt live up to the movie before this one First Contact, but in general it is a good movie, it has its ups and downs, i was hoping to see more of the enterprise E in action but im sure in time we will all get to see more of it, i hope. If you consider yourself a true star trek fan then do your self a favor and buy it now!!!

Summary: What did you expect...it's an odd-numbered Trek!
Review: Clearly the worst of the feature films. With all the possible stories in the universe, I fail to see how this one rose to the top? It doesn't advance the series at all. I'd like to think that its poor theatrical and critical performance has served as a wake-up call to Paramount and Trek Execs -- get a top notch writer, director (I don't blame Frakes for this one), and FX shop for all future films.
