Rating: Summary: Enterprise - Some cool ideas at work Review: I must say that on my first viewing of Enterprise i was horrified at the theme song ( has'nt Diane Warren made enough money already writing for Celine Dion ).I also found it difficult adapting to the " Lower Tech" universe. But not since Star Trek-Voyager has there been a more likeable cast or perhaps a less formal one.I think the characters have a good chemistry and although some of the performances are a little wooden ,on a whole the dynamic works for me.I also find that this series has a much darker look and feel and some of the designs have an "Alien" feel about them which is appealing, especially the enviro suits. The time shifting effects of the Temporal Chamber (Broken Bow ) and the whole concept behind the temporal cold war i think will make for engaging viewing if this line of story is continued.A much more menacing use of new aliens as seen in the "Silent Enemy" episode evokes the true pioneering spirit of "Enterprise's" mission. What was a shakey start as come together quite successfully and quickly in comparison to other "Trek" series.Although flawed i think it makes for a much needed spin on the "Star Trek" universe.Keep it up!
Rating: Summary: Enterprise on DVD now that would be brilliant! Make it so. Review: I think this series is brilliant! Porthos is a legend. It's really great to have a little buddy along for the ride. I look forward every week to watching it on late night T.V. as it's about the only sci fi programme on T.V these days. Unfortunately in Australia Star Trek has always been shafted with ridiculous time slots and bad press. Like any new series, it takes time to get a custom to new characters and surroundings. My first impression of Enterprise was "I really don't like this theme song" and "who are these poeple" But that's just it, I wasn't giving them a chance. I then decided to watch Broken Bow again, and it all fell into place. I was comfortable with who they were and what they were up to. I think the ship is fantastic and the actors are well chosen for their roles and the song is really not that bad, it's very catchy. It has been a real hassle trying to track down * pre-recorded vhs tapes here, DVD would be the ultimate to truley appreciate your favourite stories in true 5.1 digital sound and widescreen. Paramount home video ran a promo here in Australia, with every vhs tape purchased you received 1-token, collect all 13 tokens from season one and you receive a special collectors box! The only problem, there was no collectors box and when you contact them you get the run-a-round. Nice customer service down here!? Anyway if a dvd is released in the U.S. I can tell Paramount Aust. to stick it! Then anyone who is interested in the series can enjoy it to the max. Lets just hope that if Paramount in the U.S. does go ahead, they keep up the same standard as the TNG series DVD box sets and not the poor effort of their original DVD movie releases. Lets Go!
Rating: Summary: Earth Destroyed? Review: Enterprise: The Xindi had build a weapon to destroy Earth, and all man-kind in the process. This Star-Trek takes place in the 22 nd. century, non like the other ones (23-24th century). Though this may seem redundant, or even stupid, it isn't. To me, it looks more realalistic and is cooler. Right now Captain Archer has been captured by the Xindi and Enterprise: A, is being destroyed. Then a TO BE CONTINUED popped up and you don't know what will happen next. The Xindi are a race of aliens that live in the "expanse". The expanse is a part of space where this takes place. Inter-Dimensional Sphere-Builders created "spheres" to change the expanse to meet there needs. In the 26th century The Sphere builders tried to dominate the universe. The federation interviened and stopped them. The Sphere Builders contacted the Xindi before the federation was formed to have the Xindi to Destroy Earth because "Earth was going too Destroy te Xindi in 400 years" BIG lie! The Federation was created by the Humans and if Earth is destroyed the universe is DOOMED. <<>>
Rating: Summary: Top Stuff. Review: Enterprise on DVD? Yes please. Having been watching the next generation on DVD I would definately enjoy the latest Star Trek series if released on this format. I have not caught every episode on TV yet but the ones I have seen are top quality and have great special effects. I like the characters and all the challenges that they are up against, the first mission, learning about Klingons and every other species for the first time is really good viewing, as well as a certain Vulcan lady officer who is super sexy and makes the chemistry on board ship first class. This doesn't get five stars because I haven't seen the whole season yet, perhaps I will see the ones I missed first time round when Paramount release this new DVD. I hope its a boxset with a documentary, like the next generation boxsets.
Rating: Summary: The Best Star Trek Yet! Review: I have seen every episode from season 1 through to mid season 3. The series is excellent, and I must add that in my opinion it is the best Star Trek yet! The crew are less formal, and seem "fun". With this series, as it is set in the not so distant future, you feel like you really are exploring space beyond our solar system for the first time with them. Some people have dismissed the title music, but it is entirely appropriate for the series, and is the best music for the Star trek series. It is performed by Russell Watson, and is brilliant. The title pictures are also great, taking you through the history of exploration in roughly 1 minute! But it does seem to bring you up to speed and get you in the right frame of mind for each episode. There is a great storyline which has been built upon since the first season, furthered in the second season, and truly developed in the third - the prevention of the destruction of Earth! I would recommend Enterprise to anyone, non-trekkies too as it a brilliant series on its own without the Star Trek heritage behind it. Well done to the production team and cast!
Rating: Summary: Start Trek Eterprise Review: Like all the other Star Trek series, it takes a few episodes or even a series or two before we start to see the interesting chemistry between the characters develop which is crucial to a good story. Enteprise has of course a great base to work from especially the Voyager series which is compact and took off rather quickly. TNG for example required a few series before the really great episodes started to emerge. I like the new Enteprise series because it has to be a little more creative in the way battles are won and problems are solved. It's no longer a matter of asking Data to spit out an answer and then make up some space-time continuum anomaly based on quantum weirdness or something. I would love to see both the main female characters in less clothing and wasn't dissappointed in one or two episodes (...). I hope Captain Archer develops further because at this stage he is rather plastic and rigid. All in all a good series thus far and perhaps a visit by the Borg may liven things up
Rating: Summary: A different Star Trek experience Review: I keep hearing nothing but negative comments about Enterprise. I, personally, love the show. When you think about it, the story has to start somewhere, and when the original series started with Kirk and comp. it was 100 years after the Federation was formed. It wasn't always a war with the Klingons and Romulans and Tholians...Oh my!! It was a slow period of going out into space, stumbling on the new races and then p/oing 'em off. It always amuses me to hear the hardcore fans whine about how the new shows always are an insult to the series that just finished...then 2 seasons later are arguing with others about how fabulous the show is, like they were instant fans with the first episode. Give it time and hope the networks don't listen to the uniformed masses and gives Enterprise a full 7 year run like it's brothers and sisters. Now, of course, I'm talking about the show itself, since there isn't even a release date for any future DVD sets. I'm assuming there is going to be DVDs released. If it's released like previous series, I will be expecting a great transfer with little or no pixel funk for the black areas and good tone for the skin. I'm not really worried about any extras, except blooper reels are always a welcome thing, it's cool to see the actors acting normal and flubbing lines. (for those who like blooper reels, the 2nd season of Alias are the best around). I do however hope that the Paramount people might be browsing through these reviews...please do a better job on the disply/holder cases then you did Voyager series, the two piece top and bottom cover really inhales wind quickly and it's not very sturdy.
Rating: Summary: THE RETURN OF TRUE "STAR TREK!" Review: Despite the slutty Vulcan and other needless sexual content, "Enterprise" returns "Star Trek" to what Gene Roddenberry envisioned: "A Wagon Train to the Stars." The mythos of "Trek" has been given a very interesting prologue. The new cast of Characters (minus T-Pol, whose only use is getting naked) is amazing, and the visual effects and storytelling are at their best most of the time. Season One was awesome in the stories it offered. Season Two was a slight letdown until the season finale, "The Expanse," which led to the season-long battle to save Earth and humanity in Season Three, the best so far. Based on Season Three, "Star Trek - Enterprise" will be a forced to be reckoned with for the next four years and counting! Grade: A+
Rating: Summary: now a trekkie Review: I never caught on to the previous star trek series, but now I'm addicted to Enterprise (and thats saying alot :) ). The show feels more closer to home of our present time then the other serious, and the characters are more raw and likeable. And unlike the other negative criticism of the theme songs, I for one loved it. The theme song really gives us the the feeling that this is the beginning of adventure and exploration. If this DVD comes out, I definitely will crab it.
Rating: Summary: What happened? Review: What a mess. Are Berman and Paramount so greedy that they'll dish out anything. What a pile of crap. From the Queer as folk intro music to the dumb story lines, how did this ever make it to tv? What tree did they cut down to star as the captain;if he was any more wooden he'd be full of termites. and the crew? If this show is supposed to be before TOS, where'd all the aliens come from? On TOS, the only crew member who was not a terran was Spock. Then we have the enemy aliens. Tough, scary? Gimme a break. Where'd they hire them, from clown collage? It sort of seems that they're trying the Babylon 5 mode, kind of like a soap opera based in the ST universe, with a continuing storyline. Well, that would be ok with a next gen type crew of actors, someone who could show some emotion as more than yelling and kicking walls, then kissing someone. It's almost laffable. Also, the sets. It's sooo dark.I guess lighting was too expensive in that time. Or is it supposed to be a mood setter, like, ooooh, we're a dark theme show, so lets shoot in low light. How (yaaawn) original. Poor Gene, I can hear him rolling over in his grave now. Just one final word on ST Enterprise: dreadful.
