Summary: THE GREAT LOST IN SPACE
Review: THIS MOVIE ROCKED. WHAT MORE IS THERE TO SAY. HEATHER GRAHAM IS CUTE. JACK JOHNSON DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. I HAVE NEVER SEEN LACEY CHABERT GIVE A BETTER PERFORMANCE. OVERALL, I THINK THAT THIS MOVIE IS THE SCI-FI MOVIE OF THE CENTURY.

Summary: Danger, Moviegoers, Extreme Danger
Review: There are many problems with this 90s big screen update of the 60s camp classic sci-fi series of the same name about the first American family to go into space in search of a new home for humanity. First, the plot is nothing more than a hammy stitching together of half-storylines from the old TV Show. There is very little here that is original. The filmmakers should have begun with fresher, more interesting material, keeping only the characters. As it stands, there are so many stories introduced that the viewer gets only a superficial look at any of them. There simply isn't time to cover this many plots in depth in one film. One area in which the film departs from the TV show is in its use of the characters. While the characters here are the same ones we saw in the 60s, they are somehow lifeless and dull in this film, nothing more than cardboard cut-outs. Gary Oldman, who is a fine actor and has been wonderful in other films, goes nowhere with the powerhouse role of Dr. Smith. On the original series, Smith was played brilliantly by Jonathan Harris. Harris made us loathe Smith and feel sympathy for him at the same time and turned Dr. Smith into one of the most colorful characters in TV history. In the film, Smith is as two-dimensional as the rest of the cast. I watched the original show not for the special effects, which were practically non-existent, but for the chemistry between the cast members. They were fun to watch. In the film, they are boring and insufferable. Also, the film itself is colorless and washed out. The dismal colors in the film made me long for the bright colors of the old show. Finally, the special effects in the film are some of the worst computer generated effects I have ever seen. They are one step away from allowing the audience to see the blue screen behind the characters. The effects are superficial and insubstantial just like the rest of the movie. My advice is to skip the film, and watch reruns of the old TV show.

Summary: Horrible. Boring. Hokey.
Review: And way too loud. You know you're in trouble when the best thing about a film is the closing credits. Don't bother.

Summary: Seat back and enjoy!!
Review: When it comes to sci-fi movies i like the ones that take you on an adventure, and Lost in space did it for me. Like everyone else I liked the special effects, didn't care much for the acting and the sound track was just as good as the movie it self, it left me wanting more ( a sequal perhaps?).

Summary: Dark and somber
Review: As someone who grew up with the TV series, I was frankly disappointed by this remake. The chemistry which made the TV series so enjoyable is woefully missing, save for a few tender moments between Captain Robinson and Wil. Despite the efforts of the cast and whizzy FX, there's not much going on in this film. Goes to show you shouldn't mess with a great premise and a superb cast.

Summary: Bad dialogue, poor acting, and wasted special effects.
Review: The movie started with a great story line, but after getting to know the bratty kids, along with the computer animated monkey it makes you want to ask for a refund.

Summary: Classic retro Space Odyssey brought to modern time
Review: Lost in Space rekindles a great era by delivering a superb story from decades past to a new generation of Sci-Fi fans. Using great character plots from the original 60's series blended well with a new story line, even if it was somewhat trite. The crew of the "Jupiter" was to find a new planet in a worm hole for Earth's overcrowded masses. In an attempt to sabotage the crews efforts, Dr. Smith (Gary Oldman) is caught in his own trap. The crew is then sent to another universe and time which sets up the original story line of being "Lost in Space". Character motives are done extremely well. Gary Oldman plays an excellent "bad guy" as he usually does. Lost in Space is full of high visual impact that one would only expect from a movie in the 90's. Lost in Space has done today, what Star Wars had done in the 70's by revolutionizing many new special effects. One notable special effect was the "stop motion camera pan effect", while they jumped into the timewarp. This scene alone is worth purchasing or at least renting the film to watch. Other great visuals include Space Craft, Monsters, and Baddies created using high tech Silicon Graphic renderings. Lost in Space is a high action visual masterpiece. Viewers of the original Lost in Space series will rejoice in this rendition of a classic Sci-Fi odyssey. New comers will be able to pick up the story and character motives quite easily. The movie was targeted at a younger age group, yet did not alienate the older generation. The new Lost in Space felt much like Disney's "Black Hole" when it first came out. This Lost in Space is well worth the watch and will surely become a classic in it's own time.

Summary: Oh God... please, don't!!!
Review: Oh God... What is this??? If it's a film, it's the worst film I saw in 1998. And maybe in my whole life!!

Summary: Great Movie. An all around good movie.
Review: This was a great movie. I never actually liked the old series but this movie Rocks! It had great special effects and has a good story that keeps you intrested. But one thing, the robot was not that great. I think they could have made him more hi tech and all that. Also that was good about it was that the whole family can watch it. I hope they make a sequel becuase the movie kinda left it in the air...

Summary: Danger! Danger!
Review: Boring crap. The interaction between Heather Graham and whatshisface was probably the most painful part. If my friend hadn't insisted we stay, I would have left half way through.
