Summary: One of the best movies of 2001
Review: I love this movie. The plot isn't as good as the games, which is understandable; This has 2 hours to tell a story, the games have 40. But for a movie, the plot is great, and borrows many elements from different games. The ending involves a lot of element from FF 7 and 9, for instance. The voice acting is superb, espcially James Wood, who makes a perfert hero/villian hybrid. The graphics are the best ever seen in a movie, and the action is fun. Also, this DVD comes with 2 DVDs jam packed with over 10 hours of extras, so I highly reccomend it!

Summary: Realize this...
Review: Being a big Final Fantasy fan myself, I guess I was expecting the movie to be more like the games, but how close can you get in something that's on screen? Once one realizes that it's almost NOTHING like the games, that is when I believe one can appreciate it for what it is. The story line was great, and not over-used; well, save the fact that it was futuristic blah blah..aliens blah blah blah... In actuality, I believe that this movie and the story and meaning behind it were WAY WAY ahead of it's time, thus no one could really understand what it means, thus, no one could really appreciate it; i.e. enthusiasts, movie-goers, blah.

Summary: Generic, somewhat bland, but still entertaining
Review: I never really wanted to watch this movie so I guess I was pretty impressed with that fact that it wasn't extremely boring. It was somewhat interesting. It kept me entertained. It was an ok movie. Just OK. I think the plot of it is so generic that it offends people. The people I saw this movie with (they wanted to see it, not me) did not like it at all. So what does this all mean? Well, if you are looking for a mediocre sci-fi adventure to kill time, this could be what you're looking for. But please, let me say once more, this is not a bad movie, or a good movie. It is just an OK movie.

Summary: Visual master peace...
Review: I don't see the reason why people are complaining about the Final Fantasy. Honestly, in my opinion, this was one of the best movies I've seen this year. I've seen it about 3 times in the theater and I did not get bored watching it. Plus people keep bragging about the story, that it's poorly developed and does not relate to any of Final Fantasy games. Well if you look at it, none of the Final Fantasy games stories relate to each other, why should the movie be an exception. Than again, thanks god that it does not relate to the game story, because if you look at other movies that were based on the game story for example: Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Mario Brothers. These movies were the worst that ever been made. However Final Fantasy isn't perfect, none of the movies are. The story is great but with an exception of the last twenty minutes of the movie. Where it became typical ending for any movie, a bit stretched, somewhat boring, and definitely puzzled. They could have worked on the story line a bit more, polish it up a little bit. Then there was a little problem with the voice-overs. Sometimes it seemed like you were watching an Asian movie in English, the lips are moving but no one talking or someone is talking and lips not moving. It's was a bit weird'
Still they were only minor problems. I'll say that Computer Animation made up for all the little flaws of this movie. I mean graphics were great, and I'm sure that most of the people will agree with me. It's obvious that they put in a lot of work in to it. Which paid off, because it was enjoyable to watch all the beautiful art work. So if you did not see it on the big screen in theater, it's a loss but I definitely recommend it for everyone to see. Also I think that the DVD version of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within will make a great addition to a movie collection.

Summary: Understanding
Review: This movie takes some understanding to appreciate. The games had anywhere between 60 and 160 HOURS of gameplay within which the writers/creators could develop a plot line. The movie had about 112 min. (give or take a few min.) so it is understandable that the plot line was not very subtle. It simply didn't have time to be. They had to hit the high points of the story and fit in character development where they could. I personally think that they did an admirable job with that. I admit the animation was not as emotional as possible but it was still very impressive and worth going to see. The plot was the same STYLE as the Final Fantasy games and that is good. The series has a very definite style of plot and plot progression (which any afficionado of the genre should recognize) and the movie held to both wonderfully. The musical score is just incredible and definitely worth purchasing. I am listening to it now, in fact. The movie is better each successive time it is watched. Wonderful replay value. Overall, if you will put a little effort toward understanding the movie you are sure to find it a very enjoyable title which has a place in (even...belongs...in) any DVD or VHS library for those connoisseurs of the games or anybody who enjoys a good blend of science fiction and fantasy. I'm off to place my order now.

Summary: Great movie!
Review: I love the Final Fantasy video games. The movie was great, but the video games were better. Final Fantasy VII is my fav video game. Anyway, the movie was also great, plus was very emotional and romantic.

Summary: The ending bit the dust
Review: I enjoyed this animation tremendously. The story line was quite captivating. However, the ending left me confused and wondering, " what were they thinking?" The story line could have really taken off. I felt cheated and disappointed as I left the theater. I waited with deep anticipation for this movie after seeing the previews. Final Fantasy was the Final Disappointment!

Summary: Excellent Animation. But Very Slow!
Review: This movie has now joined the ranks of poor video game movies. ie: Tomb Raider, Street Fighter, etc. I wish that movie makers would realize that not all video games need to be made into motion pictures. I do believe that this movie is probably one of the best CGI motion pictures ever made. The charaters were very lifelike and I did find myself often forgetting they were not real. Tech wise this movie ranks up there with Shrek and possibly Toy Story 2. But this movie really lacked a plot. It was very slow and boring at times. Not enough action. The movie was only a little over 1 1/2 hours but it felt like 3 hours. If you are looking for high quality graphics and animation then this is your movie. If you are looking for something to help you sleep, this is also your movie. But if you are looking for high entertainment value, I would suggest Shrek. Pros: Stunning graphics, probably one of the best CGI movies Cons: Very poor plot, very slow, boring The Bottom Line Great graphics, poor plot. Recommended: No

Summary: Absolutley amazing!
Review: This was one of the best films I have seen in along time. The computer animation is breathtaking, and shows you that it can only get better. The story is a wonderful combination of eastern and western philosophies. This movie never dragged and had a great soundtrack.
