Summary: Superbit plus DTS
Review: The Fifth Element (superbit collection) is a fabulous transfer,in both the visual and sonic realms . The sense of space created by the DTS soundtrack has to be heard to be believed. It is, without a doubt, the best sound quality I've heard thus far on DVD. It is a MUST OWN to show off your system.

Summary: good
Review: you know when i first saw this, i hated it. the introduction in the desert sucked. i couldn't watch the rest of the film because of that introduction. i still think that the intro sucks, but if you can get past the ludicrous beginning, the film actually is pretty good.

Summary: Superbit does look better
Review: I really enjoyed this movie and subsequently bought it twice for the superbit edition. I trotted out another disc player for the occasion and compared the two by switching inputs on my monitor. I thought the colors were yellowish on the first edition and brighter, but with less resolution. The superbit on the other hand was darker, but crisper and showed colors that seemed to be more true. The sound was a little different too, being more subdued during ambients (loudness) and a bit crisper.

As for the movie itself, Luc Besson made yet another masterpiece in addition to THE BIG BLUE and THE PROFESSIONAL. I didn't really like this movie when I first saw it (foolishly expecting a deep existential sci-fi), but later realized that this is a good solid-high-budget-feel-good-movie. This and STARSHIP TROOPERS will always be among my top 5.

Summary: no extra features
Review: The "superbit" makes it have a very clear, crisp, sharp image, but there are absolutely no features, unless you think subtitles count. No commentary, bare menus or just chapters and maybe some surround sound. Buy it for the movie, but the DVD is disappointing.

While on the movie, it is excellent, funny, action, and features the hottie Milla Jovovich

Summary: The most entertaining Sci-fi movie I've ever seen!
Review: This movie has it all! Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Humor...you name it, it's in there! Bruce Willis and Chris Tucker make an awsome duo. I had so much fun watching this movie, I HAD to buy it!

Summary: I would watch Tron before I would watch this again
Review: This is the worst Bruce Willis movie that I have ever seen before in my life, and yes I have seen Blind Date. I have also seen alot of movies that have made more sence then this one. There have been David Lynch movies that have had more of a story then this. Really, why was the Fifth Element sex. That doesn't send a good message to children. I think they should have made it much more emotional of a story and it would have been better. The only thing that I found good in the movie was James Caan's cameo as the President of the United States. When the mother was telling him off at the end of the movie that was the one part that made me laugh the most. Other then Caan's fine preformance the movie was not well put together. I would have much perfered that the movie was a comedy like Death of a Salesman, another fine James Caan movie. In the future I hope that everyone who made this movie thinks a little more about the story instead of just going for the cheap and immoral thrill of having such a dirty practice being the "Fifth Element".

P.S. James Cann Rules

Summary: Awesome! Great special effects!
Review: I thought the movie was great. It had a really Hot Allien too! Only a few scenes with Slight Nudity, but seemed a great movie for the whole family to enjoy.

Summary: Why Not Add a 2nd Special Features Disc w/the Superbit?
Review: I've been waiting a rather long time for Columbia/Tristar to release a Special Edition of The Fifth Element, but instead of doing so, they released this "Superbit Collection" version instead. Granted that the sound and picture quality are improved upon. But why not make it worth our while by including a 2nd disc that includes all the added special features we've come to love for our DVDs?(documentaries, featurettes, trailers, ec.) And would an audio commentary by Bruce Willis really have taken that much space up on the Superbit DVD? All I'm saying is that with the exception of the enhanced picture and sound quality, this edition is exactly like the old one, which also, by the way, included no extra features (not even a lousy trailer). When are studios going to stop catering to the rich, who will most likely be the majority that buy this DVD, and start shelling out the goods for the rest of us, who deserve so much better than this. I await that day.

Summary: A light hearted Sci Fi romp
Review: What is everyone's problem with the Fifth Element? I think it's a brilliant film and deserved more credit. Critics just don't like sci-fi. Bruce Willis is perfectly cast as the macho hero Korben Dallas, an ex-fighter pilot turned cab driver. The scenes when he drives his flying cab around a fututristic city are great. The beautiful Milla Jovovich plays Leloo, who is actually the Fifth Element, the supreme being sent to earth to protect us from evil. Gary Oldman plays an eccentric art dealer turned terorist which is done a bit over the top. The funniest character by far is Ruby Rhod, played by Chris Tucker. I don't know why everyone hates him, I thouhgt ghe was hilarious. The look and feel of the film is like a French painting with color everywhere and loads of interesting things to look at. Luc Besson has gone and made a fun movie, and he did it well. At least rent this one.

Summary: GREAT
Review: This has to be one of the best sci-fi movies of all time. It was so fun to watch. This is the kind of movie you just have fun with. Everytime it is on TV I have to stop everything I am doing just to watch it. Even my husband likes this movie and he doesn't like sci-fi usually. Get this movie if you really want to be entertained.
