Rating: Summary: hey, everyone shut up!!! Review: i loved this movie,it was about a ship that disappeared into a black hole, and then reapppears seven years later...the story was top notch scary, with a dark atmopsphere,errie.... i liked the way, they made the people that are on the ship worst fear become very, very real but it is only the imagination that makes the people slowly go delusional or pyscho... this was almost like the haunting or the shining.. i loved sam neil, his mr.nice guy at the beginning then he slowly turns evil...oooh,it scared me so bad...i can't tell you the ending, well if you argee with me,email me!
Rating: Summary: decent, but confusing and often ridiculous Review: EVENT HORIZON tries to make itself seem like a sci-fi film but only comes across as a thinly disguised horror flick. The basic story is great, but the script is lacking in quality. Many questions are left unanswered and viewers may be shocked and/or confused by some of the events that take place. Would have been better had they not gone for so much of a horror take and had gone for a real sci-fi 2001/2010 type of story. But, it does leave you with an adrenaline rush when it's all over.
Rating: Summary: Very Creative Thriller! Review: Although many people would say that EVENT HORIZON was a wash-out of a movie, When viewed in the dark with a complete dolby digital 5.1 system and a very good sub-woofer, the noises and claw sounds that resonate from left, right, back and then in random patterns, got me looking over my shoulder on many occations. Like RESERVOIR DOGS (Quentin Tarentino), to see this movie once, you will not like it. Watch it, sit for a couple minutes and go over it in your head, get a snack and watch it again. When watching it the second time ask yourself 'Is this plausable, probable, and possible?' You have to read between the dialog and video. The representation for the gravity core I took as just an interdementional door-way, but...the real terror is in the ship's computer. Like VIRUS (Jamie Lee Curtis), the enemy can't be seen, but felt. The characters are haunted by sights that they have in their heads...the ultimate terror to these people. In the end you wonder, 'Did they get away or are the truely in hell?' The horrors displayed in the pyschic messeges from Dr. Wier (Sam Neil) to Capt. Miller (Lawrence Fishburn) show what hell really is. In the end the ship breaks up and the core drive of the ship is hurtled into hell. This brings up another question.....Sequel? This movie is not a horror movie in the typical sense. Its more of a movie you have to watch and then think about to get the true picture of what evil has possessed this once great ship, EVENT HORIZON.
Rating: Summary: This movie scared me to death,I never get scared of movies!! Review: I went to see it in the drive in,with my mom and friends. It was amazing the best movie I ever saw.The casting was great too,Sam Neill was the best person to play William Weir. And if you want to take a break from all these "scream" and "I Know what you did last summer" movies, go see this one,I DARE YOU TO!!!!!UNLESS YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SCARED GO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: HELL RAISER IN SPACE! Review: This film is so bad it's not even funny!!! When I saw the trailers for this film, I thought, DAMN that looks good. You ask the question "Where's it been all this time?" but it just turns out that it's been to hell, Why people watch it is beyond me, it could have been a classic. DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY.
Rating: Summary: predictably spooky Review: This film shouldn't scare you if you have experience with the other 19 million films that have something jump out just when the music gets really loud or really quiet. You can easily anticipate the "scares" in the film.As for the sci-fi aspect, it's not at all plausible. A ship travels by way of generating a black hole - okay, sounds cool, could work - but on the way it picks up hell itself, which get integrated in to the engine. Huh? Sam Neill has demonstrated again and again that he can't pick a role to save his life and that Jurassic Park was a fluke in an otherwise stellar B-movie career. Fishburne has hopefully flogged himself with the negatives from the cutting room floor, where I imagine the plot and the suspense ended up, because they aren't on screen. Dismemberments, cold surgical tables, organic dark hallways, dripping stuff, nightmares, and spinning lights with spikes. Evil Dead, Flatliners, Alien, Alien again, Nightmare on Elm Street, Hellraiser. This movie is neither original nor entertaining, and the themes it attempts to raise are laughable and patheticly overdone. I want my eight bucks back from the theater...
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: way cool. like a cross between paradise lost and midsummer night's dream, but, like, way in the future and all cybered-up.
Rating: Summary: EVENT HORIZON Review: THIS MOVIE MADE ME WANT TO GO TO CHURCH! THERE WAS AN EVILNESS IN THE THEATER WITH US WHEN WE WATCHED IT. AT LEAST THATS HOW I WALKED OUT OF THE THEATER FEELING. PRETTY IMPRESSIVE FOR JUST A MOVIE. I WILL ADMIT THAT THE ENDING GOT CHEESY AND CAUSED AN EXASPERATION DUE TO THE ANXIETY THAT THE REST OF THE MOVIE CREATED. OH WELL, IT'S WORTH SEEING.
Rating: Summary: A poor imitation of Alien Review: I don't know what people were thinking when they made this poor excuse for a movie. It's basically a member of the standard stranded-with-a-terrible-monster-on-the-loose horror movie genre, but with a plot and characters that don't make any sense at all. Throwing in a lot of gore and references to hell and the supernatural does not make a movie! I love science fiction and I enjoy a good horror film, but this is the only film I ever walked out of early at the theater.
Rating: Summary: Unique Story Review: How many ghost stories are placed in the super-tech world of the future? None I can think of off the top of my head, but "Event Horizon" certainly makes up for it. I am sure that many were disappointed in this film when there were no aliens jumping out of people's chests, but the film was one of the scariest in a long time. And part of the scare came from the fact you did not know the source of the fear. In the high tech world of the future, the crew of the ship sent to investigate the reappearance of the "Event Horizon" can only appreciate what can be seen, touched, evaluated and proven. Then they encounter something outside of scientific reality that becomes even more frightening as it is revealed as nothing less than pure evil. As we look at events in our own world in the past century, as we look at events just a few weeks ago at Columbine High School, is there anything else really so frightening as that?
