Summary: Spaceballs
Review: The Planet Spaceball has a problem; They're slowly running out of air. However, they have a plan; Capture Vespa(Daphne Zuniga), the Princess of their peace-loving neighbor planet Druidia, which would force their father, King Roland(Dick Van Patten), to give them the combination to the air shield, which underneath contains 10,000 years of fresh air. Instead, the Princess and her droid Dot Matrix(Voice of Joan Rivers), running away from her wedding to Prince Valium(JM J.Bullock), they find her. After being offered $1 million spacebucks, which they need to pay off gangster Pizza the Hutt(Dom DeLuise), space pirate Lonestarr(Bill Pullman)and his half dog/half man sidekick Barf(John Candy)go to stop the evil Lord Dark Helmet(Rick Moranis)and Spaceball President Skroob(Mel Brooks)and along the way, Lonestarr learns the ways of the Schwartz from the everlasting know-it-all Yogurt(Mel Brooks)

This movie, along with "DRACULA DEAD AND LOVING IT" is Mel Brooks at his best. It's fricking hilarious!! Bill Pullman is great as Lonestarr, a spoof combination of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, Daphne Zuniga gives her all as Princess Vespa, John Candy is hilarious as Barf, Joan Rivers is decent as Dot Matrix, Rick Moranis is downright classic as Dark Helmet, a wimpy puny spoof of Darth Vader(He's the funniest guy on this movie!!!)and the rest of the cast is average.

Highly recommended as one of Mel Brook's best and with lines like "I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate", "You are to refer to me as idiot, not you captain!", you won't stop laughing. So see this film.

AND MAY THE SCHWARTZ BE WITH YOU!!

Summary: This really funny.!
Review: The reason I gave this 4 stars is because of the language. Although it isn't really bad I wouldn't suggest kids younger than 13 to watch it. But it is A FUNNY SPOOF. "I Know the SHWARTZ!" Really funny. I like it.

Review: OK, at first when I heard the title I was like I am not watching this movie until my friend told me it's funny. It is so hilarious. I laughed soo much.I can't get over some lines from the movie such as:

"I am your father's brother's nephew's roomate." "So what does it make us?" "Asbolutely nothing!"

Ludecris speed ~ haha this is really funny I can't believe they have this. Also the activation code was really obvious, 12345, like they said its an activation code on a luggage.

Its a great movie even if its from 1987 and I can't they made fun of Planet of the Apes (old version). I just recently watched this movie and I think everyone who sad should watch it.

Summary: Mel Brooks's Best Movie!!!
Review: Spaceballs is by far the best Mel Brooks movie I've seen. The movie begins with Princess Vespa of Planet Druidia, being forced to marry a clutzy, inenpt prince named Vallum. Vespa doesn't love him, but he's the last prince in the galaxy. To avoid the marriage, Vespa and her servant droid, Dot Matrix, escape in her Mercedes space car and hide out. Meanwhile, the ruthless Spaceballs are out to get every breath of air from Planet Druidia, so they decide to kidnap Vespa and hold her as a bargaining chip to convince her father, King Roland, to give them the combination to the sheild that stores their air. To find her, Roland calls on a space pirate named Lone Starr, who at first refuses because he's number one on the hit list of Dark Helmet, leader of the Spaceballs. But then Lone Starr remembers he owes money to Pizza the Hut, a notorious gangster made of pizza. When Roland agrees to give him one million Spacebucks in exchange for his daughter's safe return, Lone Starr is out to find her. When he does, it's obivous the princess and pirate don't get along. However, when his Winebago camper spaceship crashes on a desert moon called Vega, they get closer, and Lone Starr tells her the story of his life, which begins with his parents leaving him at a monestary, where the monks took a vow of silence not to tell him about them. His only clue is a medalion he wears around his neck, which he's taken to every wise man in the universe, but none of them could tell him what it meant, which leads them to a know-it-all named Yogurt, who is also the keeper of a great power called the Schwartz. Meanwhile, the Spaceballs intercept Vespa and take her back to Planet Spaceball, home of the Spaceballs. King Roland finally gives them the combination to the sheild. and by turning their flagship, Spaceball One, into a statue with a vacaum cleaner called Megamaid, they start stealing air. Lone Starr finds them, which leads to a Schartz battle with Dark Helmet, which in turn leads to the ship's demise. Vespa is brought back to Druidia, where Lone Starr turns down his reward. Just when it seems Vespa will be forced to finally marry Vallum, Lone Starr, now found to be a prince himself, shows up to save the day. I'll end this by saying if you're a fan of space movies and are looking for a funny one, this is the one to buy or rent. You'll be more than glad you did.

Summary: Funny... She doesn't look Druish.
Review: Brooks is able, in a way that his parody film-maker rivals the Zucker Bros. aren't, to infuse what would otherwise be an odd collection of parody sketches with a halfway decent set of enjoyable characters that you can get behind as they galavant thier way through the story. Said story involves a plot by the evil Spaceballs to kidnap a princess and force her father to give them all of his planet's clean air. The only hope: hire a rogue named Lone Star to save the day. You get the definite sense that everyone enjoyed making this film a great deal, especially Rick Moranis who steals the movie as a diminutive Darth Vader clone aptly named Dark Helmet. As he switches between a whiny burocrat and a deep voiced dictator, he mines every opportunity for comedy, including one of the film's highlights: the evil Dark Lord playing with his toys in his room, complete with different voices for each action figure, a scene Moranis improvised. The film does, of course, have it's share of sexual inferences ("That was my Virgin Alarm. It's programmed to go off before you do!"), racial and political one-liners ("I can't make decisions: I'm a President!"), prop and visual comdey (Dom Deluise plays a charcater made entirely out of pizza), and some more traditional "set-up" jokes and puns ("What's the matter, Col. Sanders? CHICKEN?") but all work toward the same goal: tickling your funny bone raw (don't worry, it won't hurt... much). This is NOT Shakespeare, so don't look for it here, just pay your respects by laughing as much as possible.

DVD NOTES: Normally I don't like animated menus, but the designers of this disc got into the spirit of the movie and came up with a fun set of option screens to view. Commentary by Brooks is decent, as long as you can appreciate his need to thank ABSOLUELY EVERYONE who worked on this film. A good deal all around.

Summary: The best movie Brooks has done!
Review: i can't think of this movie without laughing outloud! Dark Helmet is a character that will live on forever...and every time i watch this movie, there's another joke that i get...there are so many subtle jokes (a word here, an odd saying there) that you're constantly having epiphanies everytime you watch it...and watch it with a group of people...because there are jokes that will go right over your head, but someone else in the room will understand (my mother had a Ford Galaxy when she was younger and had to fill me in on that joke)....and the cast of actors is perfect!

Summary: Pee-in-your-pants-entertainment
Review: Oh, this is so funny. Rick Moranis is so perfect as Dark Helmet. Mel Brooks again shows his genius. Sure, I believe George Lucas is more of a genius, but Mel has comedy done to an art. The then-now scene is so funny and Dark Helmet telling Lone Starr that they are not related after the whole I'm your father's, brothers's, cousin's, best friends ..... oh, hilarious. If filmaking was an Olympic sport- Mel would get gold, he has brought several outstanding films (Producer's, Blazing Saddles, Robin Hodd: Men in Tights).
The swear words add to the hilarity, but it is interesting that it recieved a PG rating- but its still fine family fun.
Buy this movie!

Summary: May the Farce be with you!!
Review: May the farce be with you!

Mel Brooks decides to poke fun at the Star Wars Trilogy, and many other famous sci-fi movies such as: Alien, Transformers, Planet of the Apes.
The adventure stars Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and his half-man/half dog friend Barf (John Candy) as they try to save the home planet of Princess Vespa (Dephne Zuniga) from the evil race known as spaceballs, led by President Skoob (Mel Brooks) who wants to steal the air from Drudia (spelling?)
When the Winnebago crash-lands on a desert planet, Lone Starr, Barf, Vespa, Dot Matrix (voiced by Joan Rivers) learn about the Schwartz from Yogurt the all-powerfull (Brooks). Yogurt teaches Lone Starr the ways of the Schwartz.
Dark Helmet (Rick Morains) fools Vespa to come on board Spaceball 1 to find out the combonation to the air shield on Drudia!
The laughs come fast and furious as the movie unfolds. Along the way, you'll meet Pizza The Hutt (Dom De Luise), and that guy from Alien, who says "Oh no...not again!" A must-have for Mel Brooks fans!

Summary: Hilarious
Review: This movie and Blazing Saddles are my two favorite Brook's films. This movie is so hillarious that i nearly died the first time i saw it.
"So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb."

Summary: Rick Moranis!
Review: I've read all reviews, and just want to add some exclusively for Rick Moranis, who plays Darth Helmet. I've seen him in other movies, mostly playing the good guy, but he'd never been so funny as in Spaceballs, playing the bad guy. He's the funniest bad guy I've ever seen, his voice changes are genius, his scene with the dolls (which improvised himself) is a classic. If you've never seen this movie, I recommend it to you if only to see the best bad guy characterization in comedy. A reference performance. I'm sure Jim Carrey took many from this Rick Moranis' character. I wonder what the hell happened with Rick, where are you now? Please, give us some more funny bad guy characters. I give the movie four stars because Rick was not in the commentary. Mel Brooks commentary is lame, he feels ashamed of this movie, and he shouldn't. It amazes me that kids that were too young to see Star Wars in theaters, and to see this movie shortly after, are buying Spaceballs and enjoying it so much. That means that the movie is a classic, because while not a big bucks success, it's been remembered after a long time. It even captures new generations, which doesn't happen with many movies.
