Summary: Spaceballs, the DVD!
Review: Mel Brooks has gone and done it again. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, this sendup of science fiction (most of the roasting aimed at Star Wars) goes beyond the stars to bring you an enjoyable movie. You'll chuckle your way from riffs on the seperate characters and sly asides (especially Yogurt's merchandising spiel), to Mel's usual assortment of jokes and puns. Look for the late John Candy, as well as a young Bill Pullman, amoung the gang of jokers and wiseguys. I felt that my children (ages 10 and 6) could watch this film, despite a few "adult" words and situations. They loved it, and actively ask for this movie when we decide to have a Movie Night. Do I feel that this is the best of the Brooks' comedies? While it might not be THE best, it certainly is up there, and I feel any movie collection can only benefit by including a copy of Spaceballs. While the DVD might not be as fully loaded as some others, I appreciate the choice in screen formats, as well as the audio commentary From Mel Brooks.. a good value for your Spacebuck. Summary: Slightly dirty satire in space
Review: Why "satire"? During the course of the movie there are several references made to the marketing of the movie as a movie, much to the confusion of the characters in it. The film borrows largely from the Star Wars series but also Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, The Princess Bride, and a few lesser known sci fi and fantasy movies and television shows. A lot the humor is crude and rude in nature. Not one of Mel Brooks best movies but it can be a funny and mindless relaxation period unless you are easily offended by "bathroom" and sexual humor or you take your sci fi very seriously.

Summary: Make way for Dark Helmet!
Review: I used to really like this type of movie. Spoof movies were better over a decade ago. Does anyone out there think Leslie Nielsen is anywhere near as funny as he used to be? "Spaceballs" by Mel Brooks, years and years after it's original release, remains as good as ever. When princess Vespa flees from her supposed wedding to the boring prince Valium she attracts the attention of the evil forces of Planet Spaceballs, led by the mysterious and hilarious Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis).
In order to save her from Helmet's clutches princess Vespa's father calls for a rescue party; the anything-but-a-hero Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and his half man-half dog partner Barf (John Candy).
Quickly they find themselves in the middle of an interstellar conflict and the fate of Vespa's home-planet Druidia lies in the balance. With more memorable moments of comedy than most movies of it's kind and countless hilarious references to movies like "Alien", "Planet of the Apes" and ofcourse "Star Wars" this movie will leave you laughing for years.

Summary: Rick Moranis, Comic Genius
Review: This very, very comedic movie is mostly trying to make spoofs of other classics. Everyone on the "good" side was a horrible actor. Their horrible acting job, suprisingly didn't make the movie funny at all. The only thing that makes this movie well worth your time is the subtle (and not-so subtle) wisecracks (some against other movies). 90% of the good jokes come from the bad guys, Skoob and Helmet. Corny ending, bad acting... who cares? You will CRACK UP!!!!

Summary: Maybe I need to be Druish?
Review: This is, without a doubt, one of the worst movies ever made. How Mel Brooks can make both Young Frankenstein (a true classic) and this dull, unfunny, horrible movie just boggles the mind. Baby Jane's daddy was wrong, apparently you can lose your talent.
I made the mistake of suggesting to a friend that we see this movie when it was at the theater - and he still hasn't forgiven me. I haven't forgiven me.

Summary: Spaceballs
Review: Mel Brooks is back, now attempting to spoof the everfamous Star Wars trilogy. Lone Starr and friend mog (half-man, half-dog) Barf are assignes to save Princess Vespa from the evil Dark Helmet. They save her and escape to another planet. There they meet Yogurt, who teaches them all about "The Schwartz". Meanwhile, the Dark Helmet is planning to steal all of the air from the planet Druidia, and Lone Starr is destined to stop him. A very hilarious spoof starring Rick Moranis, Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, and John Candy (RIP). I highly recommend this to anyone with a sense of humor and ten fingers.

Summary: This movie was not as bad as critics make it out to be
Review: Spaceballs is almost as Funny as Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstien. I think because of the success of those two movies all of mel Brooks future movies fail due to comparison. This movie mainly makes fun of Star Wars. It stars Bill Pullman (before he did some serious alien [tush] whoopping in Independance Day). He was a combination of Luke Skywalker and Hans Solo dressed up like Indiana Jones. The story line is totally ridiculus. The evil spaceballs plan to take all of the air from their neighbor planet Druidia. Don't ask me why they need such a huge ship to reach their neighbor. Rick Moranis was funny as the Darth Vader like Dark Helmet.
Mel Brooks played poth president Skroob and Yogurt (who can speak yiddish). Princess Vespa was the princess Leia like princess. This movie basically pokes fun at Star Wars. I have listed some of the others. Star Trek- Being Beamed by Snotty. Who for some apparent reason is dressed in a scottish costume. President Skroob is beamed but his rear end end up being backwards. Wizard of Oz- The Giant Statue of Yogurt that speaks
"Who dares to enter the presence of the imperial know it all YOGURT!" Aliens- The creature coming out of John Hurts stomach at the diner and him saying "Oh no! not again!" then the creature sings and dances "My ragtime gal". Also the large ship of Spaceball one is like the ship in Aliens. Planet of the Apes- They land on the planet of the apes and the transpormed ship looks like the Statue of Liberty sitting on the beach as in the end of "Planet of the Apes" Ofcourse the movie made fun of star wars. Each main character had a star wars counter part:

Summary: Spaceballs
Review: This is a good movie and is very funny and it stars Mel brooks. This movie spoofs Star Wars to a pretty good effect. The only problem with this movie is it is to predictable and the story to it is thin. Released in 1987 this movie didn't do well at the box office. This DVD is good featuring trailers and extras and is worth the buy, but I can only watch it a couple of times or It will tire.
