Summary: You Can't go wrong with Mel Brooks Movies
Review: "When is then?" "Now." "When are we?" "Now." "When will now be then?" "Soon." This movie is the king of comedy. You don't have to love Star Wars to love this film. Then, of course, all Mel Brooks films are always hilarious. So sit down and watch Dark Helmet, Pizza the Hut, Lone Star, and Barf as they travel hilariously through space.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The greatest film parody of all time!
Review: Only a Mel Brooks comedy could get away with making fun of Star Wars so may time. This movie is terrific!Every time i watch it i laugh out loud, even after seeing it dozens of times. An all star cast, and great jokes ("You have the ring...and i see your schartz is as big as mine. Now lets see how well you handle it.")and one-liners.This film mocks every science fiction movie ever made, but it dosnt bother anyone because the parodies and jokes are so damn good!(The chestburster alien from Alien, all the star wars jokes, the transforming mega-maid from Transformers, and the spaceballs crashlanding on Planet Of The Apes are just some).Highly recomended.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: funny
Review: This is a fine example of mockery and foolery, it ranks up at the top of the list of Mel Brook spoofs. He and Bill Pullman lead an all-star cast along with Rick Moranis and John Ccandy in a film of Star War proportions and comparisons.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: mel brooks is a miracle worker in this hilarious movie.
Review: Witty dialog mixes with a classic spoof of the Star Wars Trilogy. This modern day film starring mel brooks, jeff pulman, rick moranis, and john candy will make you laugh till you die, we dare you to try it.... "whats the matter colonal Sanders....CHICKEN?" (quoted from film)

Summary: What do get when Mel Brooks' comedy clashes with Star Wars?
Review: An amazing comedy adventure! Join Lone Starr, Princess Vespa, and Barf as they use Yogurt's help to stop the evil Dark Helmet! STARRING: Mel Brooks,John Candy,Rick Moranis,Bill Pullman. END

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: The epitome of a Star Wars spoof.
Review: For those who don't know the plot of the movie, here it is. The evil Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) tries to kidnap Princess Vespa of Druidia and Druidia's air is the ransom (planet Spaceball foolishly squandered their air), so her father, King Roland, hires Lone Starr and his half man half dog sidekick (John Candy) to rescue her. Mel Brooks plays two characters in this movie, the wise little Yogurt and the evil leader of Planet Spaceball, president Skroob.

I personally enjoyed the movie thanks to the comical cleverness of Mel Brooks, but as far as overall movie quality goes (comparing this to movies like "The Green Mile") I think it's only fair to say that it only gets 3 stars (so-so) on that sort of scale, hence my rating. I should also warn all those parents out there that the movie would probably get a PG-13 rating under the current system because of the profanity. Even so, the movie is filled with jokes from start to finish to make one laugh out loud quite a few times. Besides being an obvious spoof on Star Wars, it also lampoons (though in smaller quantities) Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, and Aliens. I recommend this video for those who like comedy and spoofs, and in that area I give it four stars.

Summary: it rules
Review: This is even funnier than "Life of Brian," which I have also reviewed. I love "star Wars,'and my wife doesn't--so we can both laugh like crazy at this parody of it, and other sci-fi movies. In our house we always say we're calling for "Pizza the Hut," when we order out when I'm describing the latest idiocy done by the bosses where I work, I finish by asking, "Do I suck, or do I blow?" and of course, before a large meal, I whisper to my wife, "Bye-bye diet alarm," a gag on one of the lines Joan Rivers delivers so expertly. This, and "Blazing Saddles," were Mel Brooks' two finest movies, no contest. buy them and weep--from laughter.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: JUST HALARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Spaceballs is one of the best movies Mel Brooks has made, next to "Robin Hood: Men in Tights."

One of my favorite senes is when Mel is making fun of Darth Vader's "Luke, I am your Father," line.

Dark Helmet: Before you die, there is something you need to know about us.

Lone Star: What is that?

Dark Helmet: I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.

Lone Star: What does that make us?

Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing . . .

There are much funnier senes in the movie though. Watch it. You will laugh hard all the way through.

Summary: Love the film, wish the TV Version was also on the set
Review: I know this is a minority opinion, but I wish the TV edit was also available. This is one of those movies that I love to watch with my under-10 year old kids, but can only really catch it with them when it shows up on TV (networks, Family Channel, etc.). A great film, looking very forward to the double-disc set.

Summary: 2-disc is coming...
Review: I remember back in 1987, when MGM had released Spaceballs; I saw it 5 times in theaters. Then in 2001, I bought the Spaceballs dvd, i loved the audio commentary; and the behind-the-scenes i never knew it existed. But come may 3rd, 2005 they are going to release a Spaceballs Collector's Edition 2-Disc DVD set. I cannot wait. Once amazon.com has it on their site, i'm gonna pre-order it and tell my friends about it. The new 2-Disc DVD set is gonna have DTS 5.1, Commentary by Brooks, art gallery, costume gallery, behind-the-movie photos, and a stack more. I highly recommend any spaceball, sci-fi, or comedy fan to pre-order it on the day it's available on amazon.com
