Rating: Summary: So unfunny it's scary Review: I saw this when it came out in theaters and I wasn't the only person not laughing. How Mel Brooks is able or was ever able to get any films financed is beyond me. Who thought it would be a good idea to release a Star Wars spoof in the mid-late 80's when no one cared about Star Wars anymore. It only goes to show how comedically out of touch Mel Brooks is, when he thinks that Star Wars is still the cutting edge of pop culture 10 years after the movie left theaters. Loaded with unfunny line after unfunny line. This is the kind of stuff your grandpa would tell you and think it's funny. Well, I guess it makes sense seeing as how old and crusty Mel Brooks is. All these jewish references in the movie don't do anything for me. It looks like Mel Brooks has confused a Sci-fi spoof with Yiddish theater. I guess you have to be jewish to find this guys "humor" funny. If 2nd grade level fart and booger jokes really crack you up then you'll love this movie.
Rating: Summary: A very funny spoof of the Star Wars movies , Great DVD! Review: This movie is a very funny spoof of the Star Wars movies.Alon gthey way mel brooks spoofs other movies like "Aliens" and "Indy Jones movies(most notable is the Temple of Doom). The movie has a all star cast and some lesser known stars. Spaceballs was Bill Pullmans second entry on the Internet Movie Database. It also co-star Mel Brooks, Dick Van Patten and John Candy(R.I.P). As for the DVD itself,MGM did a wonderful job, they gave the viewers both pan/scan and widescreen. The DVD also have a commentary from Mel Brooks. I wished that MGM had a did a great job with this DVD as the James Bond Sets. I hope they go back and add more comments from the actors and maybe some more stuff left on the cutting room floor. If you like Mel Brooks,John Candy or Bill Pullman(ID4, Spy Games) then you will enjoy this movie!Get it on DVD because VHS tapes are going the way of the dinosaur! That's what I did ! i love my DVD movies more than my VHS!Do yourself a favor and go out there now and buy this move!If you cannot do that , then go the library where's it always free (unless you have fines to pay!)

Rating: Summary: Your helmet is SO big! Review: From the moment this movie starts, you will be laughing. Mel Brooks takes the meaning of spoof to a genius level. This movie makes fun of Star Wars, Planet of the Apes, and many others. Almost everything said is a joke to laugh at. You have to watch the movie several times if you want to catch them all. The first time you see Spaceballs, you will be laughing so hard you will miss half of the jokes. Anyone and everyone will think this movie is entertaining. From the young to the old, this is a great movie to have in your collection. So, buy it!
Rating: Summary: "May The Schwartz Be With You" Review: After seeing "Scary Movie" I kept thining about other spoofs. See my problem with "Scary Movie" was the lack of originality. But one can't say the same about this movie. Brooks takes characters from mostly "Star Wars" and adds his own ideas, spoofing movis from of course "Star Wars","Star Trek",and there's even room for "Planet Of The Apes"! Brooks delivers what might be considered the best performance in the movie playing Yogurt(aka Yoda)and President Skroob(Which is an anagram of Brooks' name. And also the "Emperor" version in this film). I've noticed a lot of people seem to think that Rick Moranis was the best part of the film portraying a "Darth Vader" type character named "Dark Helmet"-who as the films goes on we find out loves to play with dolls, how manly! There's some really funny visually gags in this film, none of which I'm going to give away, because the ones that work are truly priceless, and will turn out to be some of the funniest stuff you've ever seen! Of course not all of them work. But this is still a fun silly movie to watch when your alone on a Friday or Saturday night. It also helps if your familar with sci-fi movies. "May the Schwartz be with you",when you watch this.
Rating: Summary: "What's the matter, Colonel Sandurz? Chicken?" Review: SPACEBALLS was perhaps the last of Mel Brooks' really funny spoof movies. Following from the classic BLAZING SADDLES Western parody, SPACEBALLS takes in all and every science fiction movie, breaking every rule and recycling every cliche for maximum comic effect. No sci-fi movie is safe: STAR WARS is the biggest casualty, with plenty of laugh-out-loud references (Pizza the Hutt and Dark Helmet being just two of many). The plot loses it way to the insane jokes, much like many of Mel Brooks' movies, but that really doesn't matter. You'll be laughing too hard to notice. Obviously this isn't going to appeal to everyone just as science-fiction doesn't appeal to everyone. However, if you're prepared for a riotous, zany cast (Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet brings pathetic bad guys to a new level) armed with a funny script, then SPACEBALLS is for you.
Rating: Summary: So Funny it hurts Review: This spoof of star Wars is a true classic. The humor is typical Mel Brooks style, funny and outrageous. Bill Pullman and John Candy are ok in this movie. Rick Moranis is fabulous. His character, Dark Hemet, is a great imitation of Darth Vader. And a ship full of.... well you'll have to watch to find out.
