Summary: Ahead of It's Time
Review: While this film is certainly not the best of the Alien series - the benefit of several years since it's release shows that while it is an emotional letdown from the non-stop action of "Aliens", it is actually a much finer film. The sense of isolation, madness and decay captured by director David Fincher (Seven, The Game) is now the most copied look and feel in cinema today. Watching Aliens and Alien 3 back to back is like watching the feel good 80's give way to the more cerebral 90's.

Summary: Best Alien movie
Review: I always thought Alien and especially Aliens were great movies. When I saw Alien 3 for the first time,I thought it was good but was expecting another Aliens. I quickly forgot comparisons, and it has become my favorite of the 4 (ressurrection started out OK,but some REALLY goofy scenes in the second half ruined it). I love the atmosphere,I love the music...and I think I'm one of the only people who's managed/bothered to identify each bald prisoner. It's fun as a game every time you watch it.Can't wait to see the uncut version when it comes in the mail. It's a half-hour longer than than the theatrical cut,and other scenes are edited differently.

Summary: Ripley's nightmare is more terrifying than Aliens.
Review: Ripley crash lands on a prison planet, and her companions Nuet and Bishop are dead, Ripley is nursed back to health by one of the prisoners. And has her hair shaven. Ripley has no weapons, when the alien shows up in the prison facility, killing off the prisoners, With no weapons, Will Ripley survive?

Summary: Good Solid Film on its own. Not Really a sequel to Aliens
Review: Despite much of the criticism I think this is a good solid film on its own. The people who don't like it are the ones who wanted more of Cameron's "guns in space." If you look at Alien 3 on its own, and don't compare it to Aliens, it is a dark, involving ride through a haunted house.

I really enjoyed this on DVD as it takes full advantage of the unique lighting and interesting visuals. Unfortunately DVD also emphasizes the poor quality of some of the animated sequences with the Alien. I have to agree with another reviewer on how cartoonish the creature looks during some of the scenes where it is running on the ceiling.

I would have liked to see more features on the DVD like we saw in Alien and Aliens, especially deleted scenes. I don't understand why that was omitted from this one when clearly extra time was take with the first two.

This is an impressive film if judged on its own merits and I like it more each time I see it. The mood is very different than Aliens, but is very engaging. Not the best of the 4, but a worthy addition to the series.

Summary: The best of the Alien series
Review: It may be surprising to hear someone actually say this, but I think Alien 3 was the best film in the Alien series. It's use of atmosphere and style over plot seemed to work a lot better than the previous Alien movies plus I thought this one was twice as suspenseful as the original. The fact that no one has any weapons to take the alien down is a lot scarier than simply blowing it away. Director David Fincher knows what he's doing with this film, and he succeeded where Scott and Cameron failed. Alien Resurrection, the fourth film in the series, isn't bad either.

Summary: Lousy movie!!
Review: "Alien 3" is not nearly as good as "Aliens," in fact, it is much worse. The problem is, the movie ran out of materials.

Summary: Alien 3--Bad movie, OK DVD
Review: Now, after viewing the DVD powerhouses, Alien and Aliens, I felt let down that Fox returned to thier basic DVD foundation. Only one trailer and a "Making of" feature. Boring :( This film is not that great to begin with, so Fox, try to add some cool features to make it cool. A commentary would have been cool or deleted scenes. I know of several deleted scenes(about 15 minutes of footage) available out in the video market. Come on Fox, try a little, you were doing so well with the first two Alien films. Oh well.

Summary: Su**ks!
Review: This movie is horrible, cant you people see that! It has a bad story, and the only thing that makes this movie qualify as a movie in the excellent Alien series are the special effects. They far surpass Alien and Aliens. And since Alien Ressurection was made in '98 it doesnt count. By the way just to let you know, Aliens vs Predator, THE MOVIE, is in production right now, for you AvP fans.

Summary: Very good but not quite a classic!
Review: Atmosphere-wise this is clearly an attempt to recreate the clammy claustrophobia of the marvellous original film in the series. In this it is a brave attempt, but doesn't quite succeed. I wonder if this is because the viewer has become rather blase about the mucous-dribbling beastie? Taken in isolation, without comparison to its impeccable predecessors, this would be considered a classic. The human interest is certainly stronger, with more in-depth characterisation than any of the others, but perhaps it needed just a tad more action. Still, it's certainly much better than the hugely disappointing Alien Resurrection!

Summary: Makes the series worth it.
Review: Now this is an example of what the Alien series is capable of. Dark, atmospheric, intriguing, and boasting better performances than any of the other Alien movies, Alien 3 shows what an Alien movie should be. The first film was notable for the creature and little else. Aliens was plagued by over-commercialization and a weak final half-hour. Alien 3, on the other hand, focuses not on continuing the series, but rather on being an intelligent movie in its own right. The film more than overcomes its few dialogue faults and has quite possibly one of the greatest endings thus far committed to celuloid.
