Rating: Summary: GREAT Review: this is a great powerful film i was dissapointed that newt and hocks died but owell the storyis great weaver does one of the best performances a actor good do.a strong ending this a must see.
Rating: Summary: BEST OF THE SAGA Review: Why does everybody think this is so terrible. I think its the best one made. Fincher directed it really well. Sigourney weaver acting was superb and the dark effect made it something different. The close shave between Ripley and the alien was the best bit. And the shaved head, great!
Rating: Summary: A great film. Ignore the bad reviews Review: All the bad reviews are most likely from people that are ticked off that Newt and Hicks were killed in this film, so ignore them. This is propably the best written of the Alien movies. It doesn't try to follow the 1st two exactly, but it's extrememly well written, very dark and dramatic, very intense, has a fantastic cast, and the score is really powerful. The best thing about this film is Weaver's acting, this is the only Alien film where her acting really impressed me. The alien in this one is also the coolest. Spawned from a dog, it's much more aggresive and agile than the others. This film is a must have
Rating: Summary: Superb 'base-under-attack' suspense drama Review: This film is much maligned, but presumably this is more because of people's expectations of sequels and trequels than any inherent weakness. To properly appreciate Alien3 you should not have seen the original. It would seem that anyone except me who sees Alien and Aliens before this film is destined to make unfavourable comparisons. Sadly, to properly appreciate Alien3 it is also necessary to have seen its predecessors! The paradox leaves us with the sad result that this film, which is pretty good if taken on its own terms is almost always written off as a faded photocopy of Alien. This is unfair. David Fincher, a first time director understands what makes the Alien frightening, and using dark lighting and occasional glimpses of the monster weaves a claustrophobic spell on his audience. The film also has the benefit of a great cast, featuring Paul McGann (Later an effective Doctor in Doctor Who), Tetley Tea man Brian Glover (who wins the award here for the most effective use of a four-letter word in cinema history), Charles Dance, and of course Sigourney Weaver. She has never looked better than with her shaven head, and puts in a performance at least as good as in the first two movies. The script and direction keep us on our toes, and the ending is very satisfying, bringing the trilogy to a worthy conclusion.
Rating: Summary: ALIEN 3! Review: "Aliens" was my favorite film in the series, so when they kill off Newt and Hicks in the opening credtis fo this one, I was very, very, very, ticked off! So Ripley is now stranded on a penal colony, convinced the big bad aliens are about to start killing everyone! The second-half of the film manages to redeem itself somewhat when we find out why the aliens have spared Ripley! David Fincher's 1992 film is certainly the weakest film in the (so far) four films, although Signourney Weaver struggles valiantly with the script's shortcomings!
Rating: Summary: Action film with twists to keep you interested Review: This film is well done with lots of action, special effects and great acting. Signourney Weaver & Winona Ryder do a good job of keeping things real and intense. If you enjoy the Alien series you'll like this film.
Rating: Summary: completely destroys "Aliens" purpose Review: With the original("Alien")we saw an original scary movie, James Cameron's "Aliens" gave us a take no prisoners approach, with Ripley being the only survivor of "Alien" returning to the ill-fated planet that is now colonized some 57 years later, to not only face her fear, but bring closure to any possible alien encounter, the war-like aspect of "Aliens" with colonial marines going in & wiping out more than one alien who have taken over the colonist who discovered the crashed ship that Ripley and her crew discovered 57 years earlier is quite a sight to see, soon they to are killed one by one, the ending pretty much brings closure to any possibility of future alien attacks, which brings me to "Alien 3", this film completely mocks Cameron's film, here we see that a face-hugger has somehow slipped aboard the Sulaco, the marine ship seen in "Aliens", this scene gives the impression that it came with the queen alien seen at the end of "Aliens" when she hitched a ride on the dropship that boarded the Sulaco carrying the survivors of "Aliens" the confrontation at the end where Ripley dispatches it into space is completely mocked here in this third film, the face-hugger in all reality would have been dispatched also given the de-pressurization at the end of Cameron's film,Hicks,Newt,& the android Bishop, the survivors along with Ripley are soon killed off in the first 10 minutes of this film, which makes Ripley's last adventure meaningless, she is soon on her own again this time with characters the viewer could care less about, in a sense, you start rooting for the alien to knock them off,one thing this film has is the "company's" true intention revealed, but this is a mindless follow-up, only the last 10 minutes are the best when we see Ripley confronted with "Company" representitives who try to coerce her into believing that they want to to destroy it(oh yeah, she is inpregnated by the face-hugger seen at the beginning)when Ripley decides to take her own life, thus preventing any futher alien births, we see the "Company" brought to its knees, which is quite satisfying. It should be noted that this film had a better script that somehow got jettisoned, in it we would have seen the Sulaco boarded by Renegade pirates, who unaware of Ripley,Hicks,Newt,&Bishop are quickly attacked by another alien who like the queen also hitched a ride on the dropship, this attack would have sent the pirates into a frenzy, gunfire erupting all over the place and damaging the Sulaco's computer systems, thereby sending Ripley's hypersleep chamber & her into a coma, the pirates leaving the sulaco with the alien aboard their ship and destined for earth, We would have seen Hicks awaking from hypersleep and investigating the rumors he has heard about the "Company" to see if they are true, the Sulaco returning to earth only to discover the that the pirates stowaway is running amock on earth with Hicks joining the pirates in their assualt on the alien, this would have been a better follow-up to Cameron's film, but instead we are given the sorry follow-up, that really has no impact on the viewer or the characters it is a retread of Ridley Scott's "Alien" with not much depth or entertainment value, I guess they didn't want to spend the money on that better script which i'm sure would have been more costly, not to mention paying actor Michael Biehn(Hicks) more money to reprise his role, Sigourney Weaver should have held out for that script, but for some reason she did not, it would have been soooooo much better.
Rating: Summary: 3x the terror Review: i dont now why they say this is bad.it one of the best in the serires.gory scary action. if the reviews woudint have said ribley died i would have liked the ending more but it was still a real good ending.kept me in suspense even thou i knew it would be ok definatley must have.only problem no guns but thats ok and ripley dies but comes back in ressurection so everythings ok.greattt movie see it if weaver or arnold/prdator/cant kill it nobody can.
Rating: Summary: A mess - But a BIIIG improvement over Cameron's Aliens Review: My sympathies were with this one from the moment they killed off the brat from the second movie during the opening credits. (Too bad they cut so much of her autopsy scene.) At least this movie had the right idea. It was also a welcome attempt to return to the emphasis on atmosphere that marked the original. Silly but interesting. It would be nice to have a DVD that details the various stages of tampering that left the finished product in such a confused state. Admittedly, part of my fondness for this film stems from my hatred of Cameron's sequel - which I found as boring and unimaginative as it was poorly written. It had a flat and uninteresting visual style, to boot. Cameron's chief device for generating terror (it hasn't changed as of Titanic) is to send a camera rushing down a narrow corridor with the actors and add lots of flashing lights and noise. His characterizations are (always) sub-comic book and his dialogue is (um . . .) unspeakable. How anyone could be scared or entertained, much less prefer it to the original, was beyond me. So Fincher's attempt to restore a little style and mood to the franchise, as unsuccessful as it was, still comes as a breath of fresh air. If they couldn't stop with one, they definitely should have stopped here.
