Review: I just finished watching this for the first time about 15 minutes ago.I'll only watch the first three when I feel the Alien need.Sometime in the next century I'm sure I'll think "It couldn't be that bad!" and I'll watch it again. Summary: Two words: IT ROCKS
Review: Anyone who thinks that this movie sucks should just swallow some alien acid. This movie is definitely better than the third, which should never have even been made the way that it was, and even though it holds a VERY special place in my heart, the first cannot quite compare. Finally, a film on-par with the first sequel. Full of action and the best story of the series. C'mon, it is VERY original. A lot of people think that the new Ripley is too unlike her character in the previous films, but people need to realize that that was the point all along. I pray that after this very enjoyable film they can make another sequel, because after "Alien 3" managed to kill the franchise and is the undeniable dip between the other great movies, they need to keep the come-back going. Sigourney, you are awesome.

Summary: Complete garbage--an insult to the previous films.
Review: It's bad as a scifi film. It's bad as an action film. It's bad as horror film, too, and it hardly lives up to the previous films in the (now) series.Alien was a straight scifi/horror film. Few surprises. Aliens was an amazing flick that deserved the cliche "roller-coaster ride". Alien3 was weaker, but I didn't really mind it. I thought it was a good ending to the trilogy, though all the great supporting characters were gone. Then we have this god-awful, pathetic piece of cinema. I wish I could burn the negatives. As a scifi, I can't even begin to tell you what little impact it had. Scifi is about discovering more about humanity and society. When you hold Alien Resurrection up to 2001 or Planet of the Apes, it falls apart. It doesn't even compare to Battle for the Planet of the Apes. Action... Not much. Aliens did it better. Much better. Cameron is God; the director of this piece needs to be in film-making Hell. And the horror? If you like "boo" tactics, startling you for a moment, and simply disgusting visuals that make you gag rather than cry, go ahead. This movie is for you. Heed my warning, movie-lovers. If you even slightly like films, if you have the least of discriminating taste, avoid this movie. Skip the avoiding, even--mount your own active campaign to have Alien Resurrection sealed and shot into space, as all noxious alien material should be. Find the original boxed trilogy where you can find it. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Summary: Aww, critics shmitics, its still a great film
Review: Even though this film was attacked by critics like so many face-huggers, its still for the most part a great film. The only problem that I could find with the film was that the humor was a little over the top for a moody and serious series like ALIENS. It was also a little uncomfortable to see Ripley so wry and sarcastic, but I feel that this change has also helped to keep the series fresh. With its new ideas, awsome visual effects (minus the odd looking alien/human in the end), and great characters, Resurrection delivers.

Review: There are many negative reviews about this flick, but it seems to me that for the most part these are based on superficial observations and techno-geek microscopic examination of every little detail. Let's face it, folks. This isn't PBS touchy-feely save-the-whales for college credit stuff, it's sci-fi/horror entertainment. I wasn't interested in timing how long everyone was underwater, and the fact that the Aliens still looked the same as in the past three episodes didn't bother me (why the hell should they look any different?) and as far as drool and gore go, isn't this part and parcel of the unique "charm" of these creatures? Comparison with the previous three episodes is unfair, as they all stand on their own. Suspense, action, and even dark-side quasi interaction and involvement with the species are represented separately in the first three, and this one brings these elements together with another twist or two added on for good measure. It took a couple of viewings of Alien III to "get" it and I believe it is better in many ways than the previous two. I believe that those who so dislike Resurrection will find this to be a similar situation. The only thing I really take issue with is the mis-casting of Winona Rider. As good as actress as she is, I just couldn't get into her playing the part here. Of course, this is only a personal opinion (as is the balance of this review), but it appears that this opinion is shared by most of us. As far as sequels go, as mentioned it opened the door for at least another. However, did anyone notice in Preditor II the "Preditor" skull collection? Sure enough, one of those belonged to one of the "Alien" series creatures. There are a series of "Alien" novels published, and several of these deal with Preditors and Aliens...seems to me that this is the wave of the future if the series continues. I hope it does. And they do end up running amock on Earth. Cool!

Summary: They really should have stopped at No.3!
Review: Easily the weakest of the Alien series, this pointless addition has little to recommend it. Neither the claustrophobic terror of the marvelous original, the breathtaking action of 2 or the human interest and devious twists of 3. Alien Ressurection is populated with profoundly unlikeable characters whom the viewer simply couldn't care less about. Even the lovely Sigourney's heart doesn't seem to be in it and she puts in her most lack-lustre performance to date. The only redeeming feature is the gruesome alien/human hybrid, but even that only gets a few minutes coverage. Overall, extremely disappointing.

Review: A unique and original concept that is light years better than Alien3 and about equal with the first two. Its not as scary as one or as action packed as two but it has its own style and a great story for people who are willing to pay attention.

Summary: Come on, guys!
Review: Come ON! This movie is fairly decent, but what I really didn't get, while reviewing all the comments, is all that "Winona's unbelievable and out of place" crud. Winona completely stole the show, and her acting was about the only thing that really saved the movie. If you know what she had to go through making this, you'd appreciate her performance a little more. When younger, she almost drowned, and was actually pronounced dead. In this movie, she had to do the underwater scene in the ship's kitchen, which must've been incredibly hard for her. The special effects are good and all, and some of the lines are memorable, but I feel Winona's presence really pulled this movie through, along with some of the other cast members, not nearly as good, mind you, but not too bad.

Summary: Not as good as it's predessessors, but still worth seeing
Review: 'Alien Ressurection' disappointed me, but it was still a very good movie. Winona Ryder really had no business being in this, although I enjoy her in other things. The Alien franchise works best when it is filled with actors that are not glamorous or well known, which Ryder is. Weaver's one-armed backwards basketball swoosh (which the actress really did!) was sooo cool. See this anyway.

Summary: Poor script = Disappointing movie
Review: Upon hearing that another sequel to Alien was being made, I did not know whether to be optimistict or petrified. By killing all of the Aliens survivers off in Alien3, the series was ruined for me. Dispite that, I still payed $7 to see Resurrection. I should have saved my time and money because this movie was a complete waste. Resurrection is basicly a retread of the first 2 movies with cloning as the plot point used to bring Weaver, the star, back. Because we already know what the nature of the aliens is, they are no longer frightening as they were in "Alien". We know they have 2 sets of teeth and like to drip goo all over. This movie also was not as action packed as "Aliens". Not one time was I on the edge of my seat with my heart pounding so hard I thought everyone around me could hear it. Even the underwater chase seemed slow and dull compared to "Aliens". This movie also lacked interesting characters that we could sympathize with and cheer for. W.Ryder's character was underdeveloped and her story was never fleshed out. Also, Ryder was a very poor choice for this role. The 2 stars had absolutely no chemistry. My biggest gripe with this movie were the enormous inconsistencies in the story. Sometimes there would be acid for blood then other times, like the alien tongue scene, there would be none. Where did the eggs come from? Swimming underwater for more than 3 minutes? I don't think so. Was this movie supposed to be a comedy or was that just a accident??? If you want horror, rent Alien. If you want action rent Aliens. If you want to see a good movie, stay far away from this load of garbage.
