Summary: The most convincing film version of a book ever made.
Review: This technically ground breaking effects film version of J.R.R.Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is unique for having combined unprecedented and to this day unrepeated filming techniques with an extraordinarily inspired vision and an historic insightfulness into the development of the characters. The world is missing out on this classic because the Video is unavailable to buy; surely the re-releasing of the Lord of the Rings is inevitable as demand infinitely spirals . . .

Summary: fantastic animation made 20yrs ago
Review: As many of you are aware, LOTR was voted one of the best stories of the century during a survey recently, meaning most liked by most readers. Well, this movie stick closely to the first two volumes of the trilogy and wow!!! I saw it when I was a little boy with my father. I am now 31 yrs old, and I still find it fantastic. I just got my hands on a copy of the VCD released by Warner Brothers, the one in a metal round case, and I am not going to lend it to any one or sell it until I am sure there's another one somewhere. Watch it if you have not. This is the father of fantasies. Those fantasy books you see in the store nowadays are just trying to emulate this story. I appeal to whoever who can, especially people at Warners to complete this movie somehow, it deserves to be. Star Wars don't come close in terms of plots, imagination and excitement. Sorry to all star wars fans.

Summary: Da bomb!!!!!
Review: This is the best movie. It follows well with the plots of the book. I have been searching for the other two before. But, until the internet became big I never could find the others. I will buy them on amazon.com, but I have to say it is smashing and much better in comparison to Warner Bros. little corny story which never really happened in the book anyway.

Summary: A must even for non-Tolkien freaks
Review: I first watched this movie when on a school trip to England, around 1980. Then again I found it as a rental video in Japan, in 1995. And now I want to see it again and it's disappeared from the planet?! Please, please re-release this movie!! The best animation movie ever...

Summary: The best

Summary: Psychedelic Rings
Review: I love this adaptation of the Tolkien masterpeice! I found the depiction of the wizard Saruman, and the Ringwraiths to be bordering on a psychedelic experience. This is a very appropriate way to depict magic in animation. It is unfortunate that the film stops at the Battle of Helms Deep. Other than this, this film is a wonderful interpretation of the books. I would love to have a copy on video.!

Summary: Great movie based on an even greater book.
Review: This movie was incredible, and i can think of no reason that it has not been re-released. If you made a petition for the movie to come back to video i'm sure it would be signed by a great deal of people.

Review: I will pay anything for this video ( up to $100) email me please. I last saw this video when I was ten, and have been trying to track it down for the last few years. I have managed to find the book based on the film using the animation, as pictures.

Summary: The Lord of The Rings was a childhood favorite of mine!
Review: The Hobbit & The Lord of The Rings was a great work of fantasy. I watched them as a child & I would like my children to be able to enjoy The Lord of The Rings as i did. So please find a way to reprint it for all the parents who wish to share the experience with thier children. Thank You.

Summary: "Stunning"
Review: Raplh Bakshi couldn't have done a better job(exept the complete it) seeing that it was in the 70's. I saw it and have read the trilogy. I pictured the characters the exact same way he did(because I saw the movie first), and I thought he did a good job. The music was exellent, and animating real people was a neat thing to see- and he did that long before it became popular. I would like to own the movie but I won't because I can just go to the movie store(it is always in stock), and I just rent it instead. If you have read the trilogy, see this movie, and since it isn't completed see Rankin/Bass's the Return of the King- though they leave out everything from The battle of Helm's Deep till Sam awakes and realizes Frodo is trapped in Cirith Ungol.
