Review: HAVE THE BORG INVADE THE ALPHA QUADRANT WITH A FLEET OF ABOUT 25,000 CUBES AND BATTL EIT OUT WITH THE FEDERATION/DOMINION/KLINGNONS/ROMULANS/CARDASSIANS/BREEN/AND EVEN SPECIES 8472. THAT WOULD BE GREAT AS LONG AS IT DOESNT HAVE A 1 MILLIONTH OF A SECOND BATTLE SEQUENCE LIKE GARBARECTION.

Review: Don't hurry to buy this. It was merely OK, and more like a long episode. Special Effects, what few there were, were noticeably bad. The acting, though, was ROTTEN. You could see the actors trying not to laugh most of the time. Shame on Frakes and Steward! Quit directing and producing your own shows and ACT.F Murray Abraham was totally wasted under the worst facial makeup I've seen in any movie made past 1950!

Summary: TNG at it's best.
Review: Insurrection is reminiscent of The Next Generation TV series. The interaction with the characters was enjoyable, and the storyline is lighter than First Contact. Special effects as usual are outstanding, as well as the soundtrack. Must see for any Star Trek fan.

Summary: What a waste of money and time!
Review: This movie, like anything else Star Trek, is a disappointment and a major waste of money. The plot is crap and its nothing more than a big budget tv episode. Can't Star Trek ever have aliens that look likes aliens? Sona and the Baku look like humans! Klingons from other POS movies and tv series can file mail on their heads and they also looked pretty phony. All in all, this movie is so bad that it makes Mulan(which sucked too) a masterpiece.

Summary: Generably Favorable
Review: I have been in the STAR TREK universe since it's debut in the sixties. It's continuing message of a bright and optomistic future has carried me through times of personal confusion and doubt about our present direction as a species with much to learn and far to go. Although the various incarnations of the TREK universe have generally grown along with the social "accepabilities" of their particular time, I am especially delighted when the "powers that be" choose to return to the formula and belief system that made "TREK" the phenomenon it has become.

Summary: No Oscars but vintage Trek
Review: Great film! When someone knocks it they say it's simply fluff and didn't have any overall effect in the Trek Universe. Who the heck cares? This is vintage stuff. Yep, it has some stuff stolen from the episode "Who Watches the Watchers?" but the message and the following plot is relatively fresh. No mandatory scenes like in the first TNG movies. In the 1st we knew we would have to see some contrived plot putting Picard and Kirk on screen at the same time. We knew we would have to see the Enterprise. We knew we would have to see Data get his emotion chip and a few cutsie scenes about it. In the 2nd, MOST of us knew we would have to see the Borg. This movie was, as some lament, a "big-budget TV episode." Damn straight. And I got my money's worth on a Trek film for the first time since I saw "ST IV" on the big screen.

Summary: I loved it and I'm sticking to it.
Review: To tell you the truth, I've never really believed in that odd- even-numbered movies stuff. Sure, it counts for 3 and 5, but 1 and 7 were pretty good (Data saved Generations). But on to this one. The problem most people have with this film is that it isn't serious enough nor is it dark enough. This isn't a movie like First Contact that you'll watch with a feeling of excitement, but it's one of those films that you should watch with a bucket of popcorn under each arm, on a nice, cozy couch, and expect to enjoy. Cause that's all there's to it. This film is FUN. It's hilarious, and it's one thrill-ride after another. And the special effects are some of the best I've EVER seen, honestly. Heck, this would almost be defined as a Star Wars-movie if it weren't for the better acting and the morals that are present. So just sit back and enjoy the show, you won't regret it. Want something more serious, give one of the Alien movies another go.

Review: Anyone remember the episode from ST:TNG called "Who Watches the Watchers"? I think it was a third season episode. Doesn't this movie look familiar now? Personally I think the true Star Trek died when Roddenbury did. If Gene saw this movie he would roll over in his grave. Well except for the fact that he is in orbit...

Summary: Lighten up, fellow Star Trek fans!
Review: In a TV series, especially a sci-fi series, you expect a certain number of shoot-em-up shows. You expect to see our heroes conquer evil aliens while overcoming seemingly impossible odds. but will someone please show me where in the rulebook it says every show should be about this? Some of the original series and TNG's best shows were about political, romantic, and/or humorous exploits of our favorite characters. "The trouble with Tribbles" is almost always in a listing of the top 5 shows whenever TV guide or simply a group of trekkies talk about their favorites, and "The city on the edge of Forever" won a Hugo for crying out loud and neither one of them were slashed with phaser fire. Yes, Insurrection may have been a little uneven in spots plotwise but I've not seen any you could drive a semi through. And the central theme of the displacing of a small group of people to satisfy the demands of a larger group as being a terrible injustice as well as a clear violation of Trek's prime directive is right on par with the overall vision of Star Trek. I don't think Roddenberry will turn over in his grave because of this one and neither should a true Trek fan get all disappointed just because the Borg, the Romulans, the Dominion or any other "traditional" Star Trek villian is not involved. In fact, I think this film breaks the so-called legacy of "odd-numbered" trek films being not so good as "even-numbered" films. No, Insurrection is no "Wrath of Khan" but it is a solid entry in the series. After all, Johnathan Frakes himself said they wanted to have to have some fun with this one and I think they accomplished that while still making an entertaining movie that lives up to Star Trek's ideals.
