Rating: Summary: Extremely Boring Review: This has to be the most boring movie I've ever seen in a movie theater. Like many others I fell for the hype, thinking that this was going to be one of the "best movies ever made." I should have known that most of the people rating this movie belong to the "all special effects, no plot" generation. There really hasn't been a sci-fi movie with good characterization and plot development made in at least ten years. Even Star Wars-Episode 1, probably the most disappointing movie ever made, was much better than this film. There was absolutely no character development, I couldn't care less if any of them lived or expired. Actually, I wanted them to expire so that the movie would hurry up and end. I have never checked my watch so many times at a movie theater, every minute seemed like an hour. I understand that if you have read the books or seen the animated movies that you already know what is going on, and that may make the film much better, but if you haven't, you're out of luck. The movie expects you to already know everything that's happening, and if you don't, it makes the film extremely boring. We actually got up and left an hour before it ended, along with many other people, because we couldn't keep our eyes open. I only gave this film two stars because of the admittantly excellent special effects, otherwise it would only get one. The movie is also irritatingly loud in some parts, which definitely doesn't help to make you want to stay in the theater any more. Apparently, people's attention spans are just getting less and less, which doesn't make the future of science fiction films look very good. We can only pray that Star Wars-Episode 2 will restore not only its own shattered image, but also other science fiction films as well(even though it not very likely.)

Rating: Summary: Lord of the Movies Review: This id the best movie EVER!! Not only has it got a GREAT story line, but hot talent and hot actors!! I thought that BRING IT ON would always be my favourite movie, but I was wrong.(which is never often, heeheehee) If another movie becomes my favourite, then somebody will have to tape my mouth shut so I won't stop talking about it. This would have to be the best movie in the world and I don't care what people say,Peter Jackson deserved to win Best director, hopefully he'll win it for The return of the King!!
Rating: Summary: For all the non-believers Review: This in my opinion is the best movie trilogy ever but to all the non-believers they should also realize it is the best book trilogy (well theres the hobbit also but I digress). If they dont feel like spending the time watching the lengthy trilogy then to invest their time to read the books first and see the true genius of tolkein. I am not a person who reads a lot of books but after seeing the fellowship of the ring I read the fellowship and the two towers before the two towers came out at theaters and then read return of the king (which made my anticipation unprecedented). I suggest that everyone reads the books (and then you will want to own the movies).
Rating: Summary: If You Liked the Original, You'll LOVE the Xtended Versiono Review: This incredible 4 disc value is packed with features, commentaries, interviews and 'making of' documentaries that are very nearly as engaging and captivating as the film itself. The makers of LOTR had the forsight and vision to document each step of the creative process and you will see much of it here, from the storyboards, 'big'atures (large sized miniatures), casting, preparation and filming. Watching the vision progress from script to storyboard to animated storyboard with live actors reading the script to the animatics (computerized scenes which has a cool option of being able to watch side-by-side the film version) is fascinating. You also get a glimpse into the cameraderie of the 4 Hobbits and how the actors built that closeness as well as all the tricks used to make them appear small in the film (and the other characters big). Finally, you get the added scenes which should become the definitive version of "Fellowship of the Rings". Unlike most films, the "bonus" scenes add a bit of smoothness to the movie and strengthen the overall narrative (things make a bit more sense and are not quite as choppy in parts). All in all a fantastic value, a better version of the film and lots of outstanding extras. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Sheer Sweetness Review: This is a beautiful film. The cinematography and film score are some of the finest ever done. The acting and the special effects are amazing. Neither detract from the other. While I am not a huge fan of anything cute and cuddly (read:hobbits), these story elements are not overly done to make them too annoying. The action is very well done, some of the best in any fantasy movie. The D&D geek in me, marvelled at the swordplay and archery in the fight sequences. The ending does feel very abrupt, but that is to be expected of the first part of a planned movie Trilogy. I cannot wait for the Two Towers...
Rating: Summary: A Masterpiece Review: This is a beautiful movie. A masterpiece. When I first saw this movie I exited the cinema with a sense of ..this is a great movie but why? I saw the movie a second time (a first) and it dawned on me how beautiful it was and I realised why I loved it. More importantly I realised why I felt vaguely confused when I left the cinema the first time. It was different. It was a completely different movie experience from that which we have become accustomed to and more dangerously that we have come to expect. We have become so used to formularic movies that start with a rumble build over the 1-2 hours, deliver a rousing climax and end happily ever after. Readers Digest versions of tales and stories that are often long and complicated with the added insult of having their endings changed to fit the demographics. This is based on an epic novel with none of it's message twisted for political correctness or paced purely for the rush at the end. It is a slow unfolding of a tale about a complex world facing a simple age old truth... that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's content is taken seriously, the acting is beautiful and it has a sad soulful earnestness that befits the story. This is where it's greatness lies. I went out and bought the trilogy and read the lot over the following weeks which made me appreciate the film even more. Then my brother who had not seen the movie asked if I wanted to see it again with him. The fact that I not only agreed but enjoyed it again despite it's length is as far as I'm concerned a milestone in this film lovers life. This is a beautiful movie. A masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: Must have for LoTR fans Review: This is a fantastic DVD set. The additional footage in the movie really adds to the story and brings it even closer to the book than the original theatrical release. There are commentaries by the directors, cast and other people behind the film included on the movie DVDs that are entertaining to listen to. The Appendix DVDs (the last two discs) give you a good 7 hours of behind the scenes stuff on how the movies were made, interviews with cast members, props, special effects and the entire filming process. Definitely worth adding to your collection.
Rating: Summary: Just a small opinion. Review: This is a fantastic film that will be treasured by future generations to come. this is a great epic that has actually hit the mark on being successful on all fronts including action, drama, fantasy. Definetly my favorite film to date.
Rating: Summary: My Precious! Review: This is a fantastic film! When I heard about a special edition of this classic, I thought that they would just add in a bunch of [stuff]to make it longer and to make more money, but the new scenes in this film add to its greatness! This is a great film and everyone can enjoy it! Buy it!
