Rating: Summary: Praise the halflings! Praise them with great praise! Review: Out of 1-5, I give this 10! Wait,I can't do that can I? Well, I ask you to purchase this movie, for your own good. This world would be a much better place if everyone watched this movie. After watching it, you will most likely be a changed person. Although many ajustments are made from the book, it has the same feel, the same magic that is cast upon you by the book, yet it has a bit more. The casting is amasing, Frodo, whom is played wonderfully by Elijah Wood, stays true to his character, he has high hopes in times of peril. And Sam shows great loyalty to his character as well. Heck, everyone does. It just has the right kind of feel that makes their life, your life. It puts you into the story, this movie IS life, the only difference is that these characters are the kinda of people that everyone should be, and no one is. And the evil Saruman, and the horrid Ring Wraiths, are the kind of bad guys you love to hate. I know it's long, but I think it should be longer. If you don't pay attention it can be really boring, but why would you watch a movie to not pay attention to it? The only thing I truly miss from the book is Tom Bombadil, but that would add another hour to the film, and I know that few people that like long movies as much as I do. And lastly, do not judge me by my age,I am a living breathing human being like you(Hopefully).
Rating: Summary: Best movie I've ever seen Review: Outstanding in every way, never drags or skips; a concise prologue brings the audience up to speed and away we go. Completely believable and low key special effects, can hardly wait for the sequels!!!!
Rating: Summary: Too long for me Review: Overall a good film, broken down like this:First hour: Excellent Second hour: Good to Very Good Third hour: Fidgeting, foot tapping, finger strumming and clock watching. So I guess what I'm trying to say is it would have been a great two-hour movie, but only a so-so three-hour movie. The sword fights and monster of the quarter-hour became too much for me.
Rating: Summary: Too long and no ending Review: Overall the movie was pretty good, although as another reviewer noted it gets a bit boring at times. It is just too long to not have an ending. I half expected "To Be Continued..." to scroll up the screen as the movie ended.
Rating: Summary: This is NOT Another LOTR Reveiw. How to See Something Funny: Review: P>STEP ONE: THE TWO TOWERS TRAILER: Put in disc 2 of the actual movie. Now, go to the Select-a-Scene menu. Navigate down to the last section, which is the fanclub credits. Still with me? Good. Now pay attention to this last bit: Use the arrow keys to select the menu navigator on the right side of the screen. Great! now, press the down button until the symbol of two towers apears under the menu. Kewl, huh? Great, now just hit ENTER and enjoy a fantastic Two Towers Trailer. STEP TWO: The OTHER Council of Elrond WARNING: This Easter Egg, although side-splittingly hilarious, contains extremely innapropriate references. It is rated PG-13 in and of itself, although it doesn't exactly show anything unsuitable for young impressionable minds, it certainly has some controversial dialouge. Okay, brace yourself. This is an extremely funny alternate version of the council of Elrond. Simply put in disc one of the movie, go to Select-a-scene, and then just keep going down the list until you get to the very last menu. Go down one more notch. A little ring will apear on the bottom of the screen. Press ENTER, and get ready to spray whatever your drinking nasally all over the place. Seriously, this is so funny, I choked on a pretzel and almost DIED I was laughing so hard. Even my mom and dad laughed until they were sobbing, and beleive me, this is not tasteful adult humour by anyone's standards. I'm laughing so hard right now just thinking about it I can barely type correctly. Man, I gotta go watch it again. After all that fantastic LOTR stuff, which I LOVE by the way, this just catches you off-guard. I nicknamed it The OTHER Council of Elrond, or The Ring and The Thing. And for all of you who don't like this movie, I'm saving your reviews to Microsoft Word, they entertain me so much.
Rating: Summary: What can be said about this? Review: Part One of the greatest film trilogy ever. Nuff said
Rating: Summary: Good, not great... Review: People act as if this trilogy is the second coming of Christ. I hear people hyping Return of the King up as the best movie ever made before it's even been released. I'm not knocking Lord of the Rings; in fact, I think they're quite good. But not great. If you haven't seen any of them yet, don't expect what everyone is saying about them; that is, masterpieces. Alright, you can click "Not Helpful" now.
Rating: Summary: I'd give it 10 stars if I could! Review: People have already said what needs to be said about the "basic" movie -- it is fantastic. While there are some regretful deviations from the book, they are far outweighed by the details that are left in and gorgeously realized. The extended edition, however, is in a completely different league. My husband and I, both ardent fans of the books, watched the DVD as soon as it came, and we were not disappointed. The added scenes were... incredible. I was so thrilled to see my favorite moments from the book back in the film -- they are listed elsewhere so I won't go into great detail. But the most amazing thing was how much of the book got put back in with the extended scenes, and what a huge difference that makes to the film as a whole! I was simply beside myself with glee watching some of these scenes; there were parts of the original cut that had me asking, "what about x?" and there, in the extention, was x! There are snippets from the Silmarillion, mentions of Valinor and such, that literally made me clap. And because of a completely recut opening, it feels like an entirely new film for the first half an hour or so -- it's like watching the movie for the first time, all over again. Even if you already have the original cut DVD, I can't recommend this version enough. For the "true" fans of either the movie or the book, this is really a must-have. The other features of the gift set are fun -- the National Geographic special gives some background on Tolkien's life, with some great footage of the places he lived in, and interviews with Tolkien scholars. The Argonath bookends are very well-made, nice and heavy, and the box, while useless in and of itself, is quite pretty. Is it worth an extra $35? You'll have to judge that yourself. We got ours with a gift certificate, so it was "free," but if you like the WETA design of the Argonath or the Natl. Geographic special, I'd go for this set.
Rating: Summary: legendary Review: people like eric miller are so ignorant of the passion and dedication it takes to take this epic story by j.r. tolkien and make it in to a film....a trilogy. peter jackson created the suspense, drama, emotion, and action that i'm sure tolkien had in mind when he wrote lord of the rings. not to mention the creatures, characters, and scenery. i mean when i read the books, it's nice to be able to put a face on the characters. most of the time people are discouraged reading a novel and then watching the movie based off the novel. the acting could not have been better. each character played their role as if they've been in their character their whole lives. everything about this movie is genious. sound track goes along perfectly. miller, it would be interesting to know if you talk this much crap to peoples' faces. i thought not, b@tch
