Review: i hadn't read the books before seeing this movie. but i fell in love with the movie almost form minute one. i couldn't wait for the dvd. it's really good, and i can't wait to get the delux edition. Even though this version dosen't have all the features, what it does have is really good. if you don't want to buy it at least rent it.

If you are a fan of the Lord of the Rings...YOU must get this!! I can wait until the Two Towers comes out cause that movie will be even better!! Review: First of all, I loved "The Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring" and I am egarly anticipating the await of "The Two Towers" and "The Return Of The King". You all know the story: Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) is a young Hobbit from the Shire in Middle-earth who is sought out to destroy the One Ring, created by Sauron, the Dark Lord, by tossing it into the cracks of Mount Doom. If the Ring is not destroyed, then Sauron will have complete power throughout Middle-earth, and destroy everything that is good and turn it to evil. And with the help of eight other companions (including Gandalf the wizard, Gimli the Dwarf, Legolas the Elf, two Men called Boromir and Strider, and three of Frodo's Hobbit friends), Frodo begins the quest of a lifetime to reach Mount Doom before it is too late.After finally just finishing "The Fellowship" book, I've realized that they left out a lot of it in the film. But that doesn't really hurt the film, because at least when people see the film who have already read the book, it will be more surprising to them. Peter Jackson did an incredible directing job...I don't think any other director could have pulled this off so well. The acting by the entire cast is truly outstanding, especially by the lead. Elijah Wood is finally getting the credit and recognization he deserves! The special effects just simply leave you in total awe...there's no other word to describe them. Now onto the DVD. I must say that this first edition DVD is lacking somewhat, so I'm very glad New Line Cinemas is already planning the release of a Platinum Series edition, which will surely be much better than this. This DVD includes an exclusive preview and behind-the-scenes look at "The Two Towers", featurettes, revealing of secrets behind the film, theatrical trailers, Enya's "May It Be" music video, and more. This DVD is available in both wide screen formats and full frame formats. I highly recommend "The Fellowship Of The Ring" DVD. Score(s):

Summary: Not nearly as good as [..]Harry Potter[...]
Review: It's a puzzle that people are even comparing this movie to [..]Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone[..] because even though it's supposed to be fantasy, this movie isn't nearly half as good as the Harry Potter movie. My number one criticism is that it is WAY too male-dominated...only two female characters appear throughout the entire film! And on top of that, they're both skinny and look like models (in the Harry Potter movie, females are fairly & equally represented). Secondly, there was a lot of violence & the same old trite battles with all-male troops on medieval horses slinging arrows and killing each other. I started to get really bored in the last hour with the hobbits and Gandalf slashing this evil villian, which is this huge black creature from some lagoon (why couldn't they make the villians look more "regular" for more suspense?). The only character I really liked here was Bilbo Baggins; I remember seeing him in *The Hobbit* & thought Bilbo was a cute, funny little thing. There is one funny scene in this movie where Bilbo is at his birthday celebration and he plays a prank on a huge crowd with the ring & "disappears." But sorry, his nephew Frodo wasn't as enjoyable. He was a little superficial and not very interesting. Harry Potter is definately more real than Frodo In one scene, Frodo's supposed to be crying over the loss of a friend (of course a male friend lost in battle), he doesn't quite convince me that he's really grieving; all's you see is crocodile tears run down his face, but there's an absence of real emotion (in the Harry movie, Harry is near tears in one touching scene & Harry's emotions really show through; you can see his brows twitch & real sadness in Harry's eyes). So, this is not a movie I'd write home about & I'd better warn your kids about the violence and sexism in this movie. I'm sticking with the Harry Potter movies and am eagerly waiting for [..]Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets[...] to be released in theaters soon.

Review: The Lord Of The Rings : The Fellowship Of The Ring is THE BEST FILM EVER! The three Lord Of The Rings books I have read were marvelous , but now J.R.R. Tolkiens world of The Lord Of The Rings finally came to life on the big screen and now on DVD. I can't wait untill they relese the other two Lord Of The Rings trilogies , directed by Peter Jackson , in theaters. The Two Towers and The Return Of The King will be as fantastic as the first trilogy film , The Fellowship Of The Ring , was.
