Summary: A few changes really helped
Review: A few changes can be seen in the second season, which improve the box set. First, instead of three tri-fold booklets, all the disks are help together in one large fold out box. They also have one less disk, only eight in this season, and the eighth disk is all the special features.The introduction for each disk is nice, and is an improvement over the simple splash screen from season one. It features a rock version of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, with a few clips from the introduction. Instead of a still for each episode, you have to go directly into them to see the stills. However, the extras are still there, Watcher Chronicles, the Q for the Quickening, and all that. There are still three episodes per disk, except for the seventh disk, which has 4 episodes, leaving the eighth free for special features. There are more special features on this disk, although it's still lacking a little. Trivia, Director and Actor Bios, Shooting Schedules and the scripts for all the episodes are all on the eighth disk. Cast interviews or character profiles would have been nice.

Review: Adrian Paul returns as immortal Duncan MacLeod in the second series of the beloved cult hit television show HIGHLANDER. The second season was proof that the show was definitely improving. The season began with "The Watchers", the introductory episode for the society of Watchers whose role would be crucial in the later episodes. "Studies in Light", -centering around the question "what happens when you feel no more emotion?" - was a very sad, dramatic episode. "The Darkness" was important, bringing about both death and eternal life for two of the characters. "The Return of Amanda" was the second appearance of everyone's favorite troublemaker; "Epitaph for Tommy" is of note primarily for wrestling superstar Roddy Piper's guest appearance. "Unholy Alliance" and "Unholy Alliance Part Two" featured the return of Xavier St. Cloud and were important for the second season. The origins of Amanda are revealed in "Legacy", and finally, the season closes with the interesting two-part finale "Counterfeit" and "Counterfeit Part Two". The second season killed off characters and introduced new ones, including Joe Dawson and Maurice. This eight-disc DVD set is the ultimate way to view the series, including "Watcher Chronicles" and deleted footage. Who wants to live forever?

Summary: This is too good!!!
Review: All highlander seasons were wonderful, but this one was one of the more touching ones. There was a death at the very end of the last season was bad, but another one dies in this season too. Saying who would spoil it, but be warned that it will put a tear in your eye when the death occurs. The watchers, that were sort-of slapped into the last season, are still there, and some become close with Ducan Mccoeld, the stunning star. This season still has all the fun, action, ecitement, romance, and history as all the other seasons. If you want to sit down and watch a great show, you need this!

Summary: Series better than movies
Review: Although I enjoyed the first Highlander movie, I liked the series MUCH more. Adrian Paul provided a wonderful international and timeless feel to his immortal character, Duncan McCleod. Some of the things I liked best were the guest stars playing interesting immortals (Roger Daltrey from the Who, for example), the Watcher element, and the moral dillemmas that Duncan always had to work through. Since this series involved mostly Europeans, it had a different rhythm and value set than a U.S.-centric series. I have the first season DVDs and especially enjoy the Watcher Chronicles extra. Some of the producers comments on the episodes are also quite interesting for people who like a "Behind the Scenes" perspective. I'm definitely looking forward to getting the second season - I remember enjoying it more than the first season.

Summary: Couldn't be better
Review: Anchor Bay has done a beautiful job packaging these DVD sets. Whereas the first season had an entire disk devoted to bloopers and such, this one has several cut scenes (not necessarily bloopers) right there on each disk with the corresponding episodes. The Darkness, of course is the most gut-wrenching episode of the entire series, in my humble opinion, making this season, in particular one of my favs. If you're a Highlander fan at all, these DVDs are "must haves".

Review: Every television series has a particular season that defines the stories that are told for that series. Season 2 of Highlander is that defining season and now you can sit down and watch all 22 episodes on an 8-disc DVD set that was released by Anchor Bay Entertainment. See how MacLeod met Joe Dawson and learned about the Watchers. Learn how Tessa died so tragically. Watch Richie grow up over night when he becomes immortal and stumbles along the way as he tries to figure out his place in the immortal world. Season 2 set the bar even higher as the sword fights and quickenings became more and more dramatic, taking on a life of their own as in "Epitaph for Tommy" and the "Unholy Alliance" 2-part episode. In addition each episode has a few minutes of commentaries by Bill Panzer or David Abramowitz that gives you a glimpse behind-the-scenes into how and why these episodes were written the way they were. With many of the episodes there is an additional bonus of lost scenes or rough cuts with commentary by Gillian Horvath describing what we are viewing. With all 22 scripts, a trivia game, the Watcher Chronicles, character profiles, photo galleries, and video/audio commentary by Adrian Paul, Season 2 is a fantastic collection for fans of Highlander and the production process. This is a must have DVD set for anyone who has wondered how episodic television is made.
