Review: Star Trek: The Next Generation finally makes it to DVD in spectacular fashion. With each episode featuring a brand new transfer and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, Picard and Co. have never looked so good. The discs are presented stacked with never-before-seen extras, all in an attractive collector's box. With the promise of a new season every other month, it seems we won't have to wait long for the entire seven seasons. After that, who knows? Maybe Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise are on the cards. Bring it on.

Review: Star Trek: The Next Generation is the best series of them all. I have been looking and waiting for the series on DVD, and now here it comes. If you have never seen the series before, you are in for a treat. This goes beyond science fiction. There are wonderful messages on war, prejudice, diversity, and looking at life in a different way. It is in reruns right now on TNN and I still enjoy watching these shows sometimes more than any of the new shows. I look forward to collecting the entire library - so no matter what happens in the future (on TV), I can watch STTNG.

Summary: Next Generations Fans can rejoice.
Review: ST:TNG finally makes its way into a boxset DVD. The features look nice but what were really looking for are the shows. After the defacing of the serices on it's exclusive TNN run it'll be good to see them again in it OAR. It's about time Paraount released a Star Trek series it the season box set format unlike ST:TOS which will make these a better value the former single format however because it's paramount expect it to be a price gouger still.

Review: This series is a little over rated, considering you pay about four dollars an episode. Even though this wasn't the best season, I'd say it is still worth buying for Star Trek Fans.

Summary: The best is yet to come.
Review: Star Trek:The Next Generation really struggled in it's first season to come up with good stories and the crew relationships were not fully developed yet.
Still,season 1 had some good episodes like the Peabody award winning "The Big Goodbye",an imaginative story where some of the crew are trapped on the Holodeck in a three dimensional novel.
Also "Where No-One Has Gone Before,We'll Always Have Paris" and "The Neutral Zone" were good episodes(among the bad ones).
Season 1 unfortunately had poor set design when doing planet scenes and often the characters would 'beam down' to a planet consisting of a foggy floor and an obvious and poorly lit studio backdrop.
They also had strange T-shirt uniforms,which were thankfully changed in season 3 to more proper looking cotton uniforms with higher collars(it's a bit difficult to take a 50 year old man seriously when he's wearing a T-shirt).
In season 3,Ric Berman took control and with his staff hugely improved the show with stories so good that it was like watching a different program.Chief credit for this must go to Michael Pillar. He decided to focus on characterization instead of the comic book action of the first season,and this made the series.A new lighting team was brought in to improve the lighting of the sets for the planet scenes.No more hokey looking planet scenes,at least until season 6 when the lighting team was moved over to DS9.
Season 3 of STTNG also had vastly improved set design,better costumes,better special effects,great scripts and even the ship model was rebuilt and improved.
So get Season 1 if you are a big fan or want the documentaries,but Seasons 3-5 are the best of Star Trek:The Next Generation for the casual buyer with outstanding stories,much better special effects and great set design.
Those are the ones to wait for.

Review: I cannot wait to see DeAnna Troi, and Netasha Yar. I have been waiting for so long for this series to come to dvd and at last it comes.

Summary: Best Sci-Fi Series Ever
Review: How could I not give this release 5 stars?! TNG had great acting, special effects (for its time ;) and storylines. Over its seven year run, it became more than the sum of its parts. It wasn't just about phasers, warp-drives and bumpy foreheads, it was about telling a great story. Sure, there were the mandatory shoot 'em up episodes, but who wasn't moved by 'The Inner Light', or was left in a contemplative state well after 'Measure Of A Man', or just plain laughed out loud during 'Q-Pid'? But enough of my ranting. The First Season wasn't terribly great, but it's a more than worth beginning. Though one thing I'd like to see on the upcoming season releases, is commentary tracks. I would love to hear Frakes on the episodes he directed, ditto for Stewart and Burton. Also, it'll be nice to have some outtakes, c'mon we all there are countless bootleg tapes in circulation of the stars flubbing their lines and such. When all seven seasons are released, I may never leave the house.

Summary: It's been a long time coming but it's been worth it
Review: Paramount seem to have listened, planned and are going about releasing quality DVD box sets with extras. One season is planned for release every 2 months The great news is that the picture has been remastered and the sound remixed into Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. 4 new documentaries have been created for this release lasting for an hour. Presentationally the box sets form a neat library of 7 packs when placed alongside each other. A booklet is also included per box. Season 1 of The Next Generation has only a few outstanding stories. The rest (looking like they are from the eighties) tend to spend too much time on supporting characters such as Wesley Crusher. Fortunately Patrick Stewart does such a superb job of leading the cast, the weaker stories can be forgiven for the most part. An excellent release with the entire 7 seasons on the way. Fingers crossed for Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise releases soon!
