Summary: What could have been the boldest Trek spinoff....
Review: With Star Trek: The Next Generation winding down to conclusion and the embattled Star Trek: Deep Space Nine initially being a hard sell to Trek fans, Paramount Studios demanded another Trek spinoff. Considering early struggles with Deep Space Nine, the producers decided to return to the original mold of a starship boldly exploring space...but with a twist: this ship is lost and stranded in the most distant corner of our galaxy with slim to little hope of getting home in under 70 years.

This intrepid premise was coupled with an unparalleled medley of characters. The first female Star Trek lead as Captain Kathryn Janeway. A holographic program replaces the ship's surgeon who was killed on route to this distant region of space. A former prisoner, Lt. Tom Paris, takes the helm. Commander Chakotay debuts as the first Native American Starfleet officer. Reminiscent of Sulu, there is Ensign Harry Kim as operations officer. And a solute to Spock, there is the black Vulcan security chief, Lt. Tuvok. Rounding out the cast is the half human, half Klingon chief engineer, Lt. Torres; and two new alien crewmembers: Kes and Neelix. And thus Star Trek: Voyager was born...

Returning to old favorites did not give this particular Trek incarnation high ratings for long, rather this soon became a more embattled spinoff than Deep Space Nine. As fans began to embrace the radical plot twists and story arcs of Deep Space Nine, the traditional plots of Voyager earned it the label "Star Trek: The Next Generation, Lite".

Still, the first season is definitely worth purchasing since one gets to see the beginnings of what promised to be the best of all Star Treks. Considering the rich unknowns that awaited this crew in the farthest reaches of space: no hope of reinforcements in times of danger, no hope of new supplies thus testing this new crews' survival skills, and slim chances of getting home to familiar territory. In the end, the show did not capitalize upon all of its incredible potential, but in the first season, one can consider the awe of the journey that lay before them.

Included in this DVD boxset is a special treat: rare footage of the original actress cast as Captain Janeway: Genevieve Bujold. After half a week on the job, she marched off the set and quit...handing the role over to Kate Mulgrew. This must have been an incredibly tumultuous time in the early days of filming the pilot for this series, and it will be wonderful to see how the producers handled this problem. More so, it will be interesting to see a different face in the role of Voyager's captain if only for a few short clips.

As a Star Trek fan, this DVD is a must own. For the "uninitiated" thinking about owning some Star Trek episodes, this first season of Star Trek: Voyager is an awesome primer.

Fact is, the ST:Voyager DVD Season 1 release is underpriced. It contains "behind the scenes" and interviews etc. making the DVD release special...

It's the DVD set for me... and if I know the Star Trek fans, "the needs of the many will outweigh the needs of the few!"

Live long and prosper.

Summary: Good, But Certainly Not Worth $100.00
Review: Let's face it. Everybody has their favorite Star Trek Captain, Crew, and Series from the Franchise. I prefer DS9; you might prefer NTG, Voyager, or Enterprise. But the fact remains, that Paramount is hitting us with these whopping $100 price tags for these DVDs because they know that's what the market will permit. If you want to drive down the price, don't buy it on the first day, first week, or first month. Let them know that enough is enough. Unlike other TV DVD Box Sets (Buffy, "24", etc.), Star Trek fans tend to be compulsive junkies willing to do anything (including pay $100+ a pop) to get their fix. The rest of us regular types who enjoy the show (in reasonable doses) must pay the price for the compulsive nature of our fellow Trek fans. That said, Voyager was cool. Not my favorite, but a solid show with interesting characters. Seven of Nine was really overrated, but she doesn't even join the cast until Season 4.

Summary: Not Worth The Price - Corporate Greed
Review: Being A Life Time Trekkie I can't see buying this series, not that it wasn't that bad but....
16 episodes for $90 ?
What will the next set cost? $149?

By far the worst of the series (excluding most of the Originals bad episodes).
This degrades the prices of both TNG & DS9. (both I own)

Make a decent offer.... say, $49 for the first season and $79 per season, for the rest

I rate it one star (on the price) three stars overall.

Summary: bang for your buck!!! ?
Review: To start let me say..."By far the best series in the Star Trek family" and I can only hope they'll make a Voyager movie (a blockbuster waiting to happen to put the other Star Trek movies to shame).. but....Paramount....What are you thinking with the price tag!!!
There are millions of fans out there who have been waiting and waiting oh so patiently, staying up to the wee hours just to catch a rerun of their favorite episodes, watching the message boards and store shelves and then that glorious day comes Voyager box set on DVD and it costs $130.00 for 16 episodes !!!
My Lord! I would be willing to bet that the majority of the Voyager fans are not bringing in 6 figure incomes and would like to pay that price but ultimately will not be able to! :(
This is such a disapointment and when I saw that price I know I'll never own them.
But hey, ...all the doctors and lawyers will get to enjoy them, the rest of us will just have to stay up 'till 3 AM or take out a second mortgage. :)
Peace Out, A very sad Voyager fanatic

Summary: Again this thing with the region ..
Review: I like the voyager series most of all and like to get the whole series, but what i still don't understand why they have this regions and not all availabel languages on one DVD. Is it really the space needed for that? I know, it's a fact, that we unfortunately have to live with that, but so I'm going to wait another couple of months to wait for region 2 with hopefully english, french _and_ german on one single DVD (set). (The region wouldn't be a problem though..)
And I have to agree on the other comment, that it's still most too expensive. Would also pay a maximum of € 50,- for one season.

Summary: I love Voyager but only 16 episodes for 100 bucks? No way
Review: I am a big fan of all the Star Trek series. I have all the DS-9 and 6 of 7 Next Gen but I dont think in good conscience I can pay the normal 100 dollars for a severely shortened season. All I ask is for the greed to get turned down a notch. Please I beg you. A lot of loyal Star Trek fans are not gonna pick this season up due to the extravagent price. Other than that I have to have to say I plan to buy the other seasons of Voyager. It really was a good show. The cast really came together over the seven seasons. They started with some really good chemistry and ended with even more. I beg Paramount, please please please lower the price of this DVD.

Summary: VOYAGER BOX SET
Review: This was a decent series, although I am more impressed by Deep Space Nine than any of the recent (Original Series still is untouchable) Star Trek shows.

However, regardless of the extremely bright and cheerful packaging scheme, one can purchase these seasons knowing thankfully that Jeri Ryan is only a few box sets away.

Summary: A big error of this DVD
Review: All the other DVD of Star Trek series had subtitles in many languajes becuase the fans (and customers) live around the world.

The Star Trek Voyager in DVD is a product created just only few fans. For example all the spanish customers that bought the others DVD series never will buy the Voyager serie.

I hope that change this monumental error..
