Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Lots of "flash" with no content
Review: While special effects were well done, the acting, story content, and overall picture quality were generally lacking. You can dress up a pig, but that don't mean you can take him to the banquet!

Save your money! Others did by choosing to see Phantom Menace instead!

Summary: Awsome Movie
Review: This movie really makes you think twice about "the real world". Really cool movie if you liked the movie "Hackers".

Summary: Amazing! A surprise around every corner!
Review: This was a great idea for a movie! I just wish it could be longer! Really makes you think about life and reality!

Summary: I LOVED THE FLYING MONKEYS AND THE TALKING APPLE TREES
Review: How'd they do that thing with the Great and Mighty Oz? I loved the part where the girl dumped the water on the witch

Summary: What can I say: The best movie ever
Review: Bought a DVD player just for this movie. I'll let you decide how excellent a movie I thought it was.

Summary: ONE OF THE MOST SATISFYING MOVIES OF THE 90S.
Review: "The Matrix" is a complex, deep thinking movie, with an actual story, good acting- the best to come from Keanu in his complete movie career, action, adventure, special effects, and beautiful cinematography.

I actually had to see this movie twice to get the complete understanding of the story. "The Matrix" is beyond the usual short edit sequences for small attention spans, it is a 2 1/2 hour movie with a real meaning about how we exist in a world gone wrong. It really makes you think if we are really hooked up to machines living our lives in virtual reality.

Definitely one of my best picks of the year. I really think "The Matrix" should be nominated at the Oscars for best picture, but will be ignored due to its Science Fiction nature. Ashame.

A Definite buy!

Summary: A provacative fable for our lives at the turn of the century
Review: I was not expecting to be so blown away by this film. Good films are rare -- good sci-fi films with an engaging message even rarer. The Matrix is one of these rarities. It asks the questions -- "When are we gonna wake up and see the craziness of the lives we're living?" & "How far are we willing to go to change things?" All this in addition to the cleanest, most engaging visuals I've seen since Blade Runner.

Summary: Wake up! This is a great film!
Review: What amazes me about the few harsh criticisms of this movie is how banal and superficial they are. Yes, Matrix is loaded with cool special effects, a killer score, and an overwhelming sense of paranoia, but remember that the majority of the film takes place inside of a mainframe - it's not real. Neo is a brilliant hacker without a clue as to how the technology he loves is an extension of a much more sinister reality. I knew I had seen a brilliant movie when the foreshadowed use of Baudrillard's "Simulacra and Similarities", a treatise on the meaninglessness of defining reality in a totally fabricated, digital, mass produced society, kept its theme up until the credits started rolling. The next time you login, go through ticketron, or buy a bag of groceries think to yourself, "I wonder what's behind it all?"

When I think of the pantheon of great film, it's impossible not to draw comparisons between one movie and the next. Sure, The Matrix had elements of 2001 and BladeRunner, but it stands on its own as a landmark acheivement. Dark City explores reality subverted into a scientific experiment, leaving the world, ultimately, in the hands of one man; eXistenz is a game which blends far too easily with reality; The Matrix is something totally new. Reality doesn't exist at all, or at least given the choice, who would choose to live outside the Matrix? The viewer, should they choose to really think about it rather than expect to be entertained, is left with a sense of dread and despair. This is not a feel good, rah rah humanity film, and it is great because it leaves us with existential questions we probably have considered but have rarely seen in any form of media.

The Wizard of Oz said "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" We should immediately quip "Why not?"

Summary: Knocked me out of the cinema chair.........
Review: When the film first started, i though oh no, just another hacker movie....... But then it just exploded into an orgie of effects, thrilling scenes, sci-fi, and humor. I have now seen this film 5 times in our local cinema, and i will buy the DVD in december. I can`t really express my fellings after seeing this film in another way but saying:

WOOOW

Looking forward to the two other follow-ups!!!

Summary: Best Keanu Movie Ever
Review: I must say Keanu is one of my actors, and the character of which he portrayed in Matrix was no exception. I saw Matrix in the big screen, and it left me speechless. I preordered Matrix on DVD, and I'm sure it'll have sharper picture than in the theatres. Only thing you'll lack from the DVD copy's that you won't get the theatre quality sound. I don't care what kind of sound system you have... unless you are George Lucas living at the Skywalker Ranch. My recommendation, a must get for Sci-Fi audience.
