Summary: Sci-Fi for the 21st century
Review: I expected to see a plain action movie. Some sort of Speed 3. I went to the movie and it was more than what I expected. It has an interesting story based on the concept about "what is real" and it has martial arts.

If you are not familiar with computers or you do not like cyberpunk, you may consider it "so so".

I am going to tell you. I was a Star Wars fan years ago. The Phantom Menace dissapointed me because of plain characters (no real motivation), no sense of wonder or adventure, and a silly story resollution.

Instead, I realized that matrix was a movie to think. No glamorous spaceships or E.T. charm but a solid story.

I just liked enough to see it twice and purchase here.

Summary: Its too much!!
Review: Once I saw the movie "The Matrix", I knew that it had surpassed all of my other favorites easily! The graphics were perfect and Keanu Reeves is just too sexy! Also, this movie really makes you think about what's REAL and what isn't....There is nothing like this movie and I am going to watch it over and over again.......Honeybuz22

Summary: Top features, Top art, Simply a must have!
Review: I got this DVD on the 17th of september. When I saw the casing, I thought mmm...damn cartboard. But as I opened it, it looked very very good. Usually the features are lesser in numbres with beautiful case, however, we are dealing with a Warner Bros DVD. As with the sister company New Line Cinema, in my opinion they've produced the best in DVD video. The layout is very artistic and they've done a great job in defining the features on a DVD player and DVD-ROM player. Okay let's play it. The disk looks great btw. With a DVD player the upcoming menu is completely animated. Hidden "red pills" and "white rabbits" brings home entertainment to a new level.... The dolby digital track along with anamorphic widescreen makes for an eye-popping movie viewing. Not in any way doing under for the big screen version. Additional audio tracks and behind the scenes makes it a DVD must have...even if you don't like Sci-Fi.

Summary: Rich characters, excellent story-line, sfx/cinematography
Review: I first avoided this movie because in the trailers it seemed the movie was dependent on the special effects alone. I was dead wrong. What I found was a great, philosophical movie, with rich characters (each graced with a "signature voice"): Agent Smith, Morpheus, Trinity, and The Oracle who find themselves interwoven around Neo, our nascent savior. Superficially, it is a great science-fiction film. For those that are more cerebral, The Matrix's philosophical message (I hesitate to call it a "movie"), its story-line, musical score, breathtaking cinematography, direct yet subtle "faith and love" sub-plot, and use of captivating slow-motion, lighting, and sfx enhance this legendary tale of the Ubermansch in all of us. Like The Truman Show we are challenged with the question(s): "Are you really in control of your life? Are you aware of your destiny and living your life according to its greatest potential and purpose?" A very well-rounded work that is sure to become a cult classic.

Summary: WHOAH!!!! The Best Movie This Year!!!!
Review: I've been waiting for this Dvd ever since March 31st 1999 the day The Matrix came out in theaters I was there for the 1st show of the day and I was totally blown away by this movie. This is the most visually stunning and original movie I have seen in a long time easily the Best Movie I Have Seen This Year!!! Most movies have me getting antsy in my seat before the standard 90 minute movie is over but the Matrix which runs almost 2 and a half hours had me asking for more after it was over This is not your average big-budget actioneer (most of which I dont care for because of their lack of imagination and storylines)The Matrix on the other hand offers an immersing story, revolutinary state-of-the-art-effects, Great characters, Mind Blowing Action and Kung-Fu sequences, and camera work that takes you on a roller coaster. Dvd offers a ton of extras like "Follow the white rabbit" and many other hidden extras only wish I had Dvd-rom on my computer to access the other extras like script to storyboards, Trailers to tests to see if your "THE ONE". I believe this movie is a landmark a pioneering film that will be looked back upon as the movie that started a whole new style of imaginative filmmaking. Iv'e seen this movie 5 times already and it just keeps getting better, Well anyway I can't tell you what The Matrix is you have to see it for yourself!!!!

Summary: A very well done film
Review: What can I say, the Matrix is an excellent film. It does suffer from some flaws, but nothing that can't be overcome by great special effects and an engaging story. I'll get the negatives over with first. Keanu Reeves is not a great actor. The first time I watched the film, I spent my time counting the average number of words in his lines. It was about three. This actually comes out as a positive in a way: the movie is not bogged down by Keanu's lack of ability. Secondly, I don't find the premise of this movie as original or startling as most others. There have been plenty of movies like the Matrix, most recently was Dark City, whose atmosphere I found much more involving, although both plots stretch the imagination too far at points. Onto the good. Lawrence Fishburne did a GREAT job in this movie. All the lines they didn't trust to Keanu were perfectly handled by Fishburne's Morpheus. I found his character to be the most interesting, and I was half hoping that he would end up being the hero of the movie by some twist of fate. Oh well, I still enjoyed his performance. Carrie-Ann Moss did a good job as well. And although the premise was nothing new, the film makers did a good job of making their audience think about reality and the quality of their lives. So I highly recommend seeing this movie.

Summary: This DVD movie rocks. The best DVD ever. Extremely good.
Review: I seen this movie on my DVD player today, 16th September 1999, a whole week before USA. It was so cool and this DVD is a combined DVD Movie and Interactive DVD-ROM. 7,4 Gb Movie and 1 Gb PC stuff. Example you got a copy from the official Matrix web site on the DVD-Rom. The prerry good Matrix Internet Explorer which rocks with the original Matrix Soundtrack in background. Much better and more fun than the standard Internet Explorer from Microsoft. The Matrix Movie Trivia game is very good. Every question is linked to the movie and you can see the actual scenes directly in a own window. "The Storyboard" section is pretty good. You can see all the animated storyboards which was made to make the movie. The Storyboard have also lot of pictures from the movie and the whole story with dialogs and script to every scene in the movie. Very good idea. Unbelievable it is around 1000 Mb with PC stuff on the same DVD disc as the movie. This is how every DVD should have been. 95% of the dual-layed one-side DVD-disc is used. 8,3 Gb include the movie. This is to good to be true. You got also in the DVD ROM section 6 standard Mpeg movie trailers from movies like Mad Max 2 and 3, Soldiers, Demolition Man and of course Matrix. This can be played by programs like Windows Media Player. The DVD Movie Menu sections repeats itself with best movie scenes from the movie. Pretty good. The movie is normally 130 min. long, but you can also see the extra movie scenes that wasn't on the cinema version. Other things you get is information and pictures about the casts and directors in the movie. You can see the movie with american subtitles. Hear the directors when you see the movie. Hear the soundtracks in the movie without hearing nothing else from the movie. This is really soundtrack like you get on the Soundtrack CD. A very good idea also other DVDs should have. Documentary movies about the making of the movie and the special effects. Really good quality in sound and pictures in the movie made this DVD a example how other DVDs should have been. This is really 100% like the format DVD should have be. This is the best movie on DVD!!!!

Here in Norway where I live, the largest entertainment company have got 40000 copies of the Matrix DVD movie this week. It is very cool that I and many other DVD fans in Norway, got the Matrix DVD movie in our own mailboxes a whole week before the DVD movie is released in USA. In few days I will also got the DVD movie of The Mummy. In Norway many people have modified DVD players and buy the DVD movies they like to own. American versions or European versions have very little to say. Nearly all in Norway can speak english. It is only around 300 DVD movies in Europe still but in USA it is more than ten times so much.

Summary: Amazing. Truly amazing.
Review: The Matrix is by far and away the best film I saw this summer. I went in expecting a run-of-the-mill sci-fi tale with some romance and violence thrown in for good measure. I was treated to a cinematic masterpiece of thoughtful scripting, snappy acting and incredible special effects. Not only does The Matrix thoroughly entertain you, it leaves you with many serious questions which have their basis in philosophy. Far superior to the watery and disappointing Phantom Menace, I strongly recommend this film to anyone who hasn't seen it. And for those of you who have . . . how many of you tried the trick with the spoon?
