Rating: Summary: This was the basis for the series Review: Yes, I like the cast of the series better, but THE MOVIE CAME OUT FIRST! Don't review it based on the cast of the series, as this was the basis for that series! The movie was great, good suprise hit..had all the elements of a great action flick.
Rating: Summary: An okay movie, though it could have been better if... Review: I liked the movie, and the concept, but some parts were just... it probably would have been better if they had used Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, (the cast of the series Stargate SG-1) etc. Anyway, I liked the movie, though it could have been better.
Rating: Summary: annoying double sided movie Review: I purchase the DVD release before the special edition and was really unhappy to find that half way through the movie i had to turn over the god damn disk. I was looking forward to watching stargate on DVD but this just ruined it for me. I am now stuck with a movie i enjoy split on two sides of a disk that can easily fit the movie on one side. I would avoid purchasing this edition as i gather that nothing has changed to most likely still have to flip the disk.
Rating: Summary: Great concept, awesome movie, poor extras Review: This movie is by far one of my favorites. However, Kurt Russel was a horrible Colonel O'Neil. Richard Dean Anderson, by far and wide, brought more to the character in SG1 than Russel could possibly have. If this movie would have had the cast the SG-1 series has, it would have been much better. Regarding the DVD, it's limited in it's extras, I was really hoping for some deleted scenes or makings of's. It's the earlier release, so I guess that's their excuse. Get the Special Edition for a few bucks more, it has some extra stuff that this one doesn't.
Rating: Summary: Great film shame about picture quality Review: Touted as the new raiders this doesn`t quite live up to that but is still good fun especially with the extra footage.Picture ratio states 1.85:1 on box but is in fact 2.35:1.Sound is first rate on the disc but visually things stink.
Rating: Summary: A SPECIAL EFFECTS MARVEL! Review: i felt the sound was incredible in pro logic and the picture quality excellent, its by far my favorite movie on dvd.
Rating: Summary: an "almost" masterpiece Review: An incredible concept that is truly wonderful, more for what it might have been rather than the result seen at the cinema. One of my greatest enjoyments/disapointments, still, even Casablanca wasnt perfect.
Rating: Summary: An underrated Classic Review: This movie is one of the best Sci Fi movies around. It is original and unique. The movie has never received its do recognition and should be named as one of the top ten Sci Fi movies of all time in my opinion. Also, the soundtrack is great and the special effects are very good. This film will always rank up with my other Sci Fi favorites such as Blade Runner and Star Wars
Rating: Summary: Beautiful, incredible, remarkable!!! Review: I highly recommend this movie to anyone with an interest in Egyptology, Sci-Fi, SPFX, etc, etc. Okay, so they use the eye of Horas as the eye of Ra, but that doesn't seem to hurt the plot at all! Totally fresh storyline, great SPFX and action with just enough romance thrown in to make women say "Wha...ooohhhh, well honey, this movie might not be so bad after all." In short, overall concept is outstanding!
Rating: Summary: Excellent sci-fi movie; at best on DVD Review: A must own for any sci-fi fan with a DVD. Great story concept; excellent special effects; great natural decors. It's just too bad there never was a sequel, although the TV series is very good.
