Summary: 3.5 stars, actually..
Review: The Matrix had me very impressed through the first half, but didn't keep it up to the end. Too bad. I hated seeing that happen to a movie with such a great setup: the human race is enslaved and doesn't even know it, and the world we know is just shadows on a cave wall. Wow, an action movie that expects you to think? This could have really gone somewhere. The look and feel are very well-done and create just the right mood. The hand-to-hand fight sequences and special effects are flawless. This was shaping up to be the best action film I'd ever seen.. and then it completely fell apart. The subtle mind games and intelligent dialogue degenerated into a standard action-flick ending. Gratuitous shootings and big explosions. Chases and gunfights. Style over substance. The ending doesn't even explain the aftermath of the final fight. I guess we'll have to wait for the sequel: an intelligent look at humanity's struggle with its freedom, or another lifeless high-tech shootout? Wait and see...

Summary: I know that no one will ever read this, but, oh well...
Review: The matrix has a unique ( for a movie) storyline, but it is very poorly thought out. The concept has gaping loopholes in it ( why did the robotic intelligence bother with the VR if brain-dead bodies produce as much electricity as normal ones?). Like stated below, the dialogue is simplistic at best. I understand that most of the viewers are in for the eye-candy and not the lingo, and I am not opting for the level of lingual sophistication of the Murder on the Millennium Falcon ( a book, not film), but the characters could have easily used just a tad bit more plain intelligence... Another topic: the unecessary violence - just consider this:" We are going to save the humanity from a virtual prison - and now let's gun down the twelve hundred guards that stand between us and that door!" I would have honestly liked the movie a great much better if the plot was more styled toward th thrill and the mystery rather than the special effects (all of which have been fully blown in the commercials - technicly, if you've seen the commercials, you've seen the movie). Classic Hollywood mindlessness.

Summary: The Matrix - On DVD
Review: The Matrix has already made it's mark on movie history when it released into the theaters, and then home, but when the digital clarity of sound, and picture come together it makes a stunning movie with on-your-seat action! This is indeed much better than VHS, but whatever your can purchase, Do So!

Summary: The best action movie with the best special effects ever.
Review: The Matrix has an intricate, detailed, and intriguing plot. I enjoyed every minute of it from the first scene with "badass" Trinity to the final scene where Neo is "The One." What a great movie, my friends and I are always imitating moves from the Kung Fu scene where Neo fights Morpheus, and sometimes even trying to dodge bullets fired from a foam dart gun. When this movie comes out on VHS I am totally buying it and watching it every night until I can do every kick-ass move ever seen.

Summary: Everything You Want In a Movie
Review: The Matrix has everything you want in a movie. Insane special effects that combind with an exciting soundtrack and an chilling story about how we look at the world provides entertainment for multiple views of this movie. The plot may be a bit difficult to fully understand the first time through, so that is why I, like many other people who have seen this movie recomend that you see it twice to fully appreciate it. The Matrix is a mind blowing action/sci-fi movie that sci-fi and non sci-fi fans alike need to see to believe. There is just a certain "coolness" that this movie has which will have you exclaiming just how awesome The Matrix is.

Summary: Quick, pull up your socks, or The Matrix will knock it off!!
Review: The Matrix has its fair share of critics as well as fans.

The critics found the storyline somewhat confusing and dumb. (Quote: "Silly and Dense!" Jay Carr, Boston Globe)

I thought it was immersive, well thought out and original. Mr Carr here obviously didnt catch on with the storyline. Ok, the first time it took me a little thinking to work out what was oing on too, but once you find out what's going on, you'll love it!!!

The critics and I both agree the cast and visual effects are stunning and superb. (Quote: "It's astonishing that so much money, talent, technical expertise..." Bob Graham, San Franciso Chronicle)

So, maybe you might find the storyline a bit difficult to follow, but there is no question about the other two major aspects of the film -- the Cast and the Special Effects. Also note that the Matrix received the best special effects award at the oscars (or at someplace else I forgot).

If your're still in doubt of whether to buy this or not, read the synopsis carefully, because the plot alone is going to make most people love it or hate it.

The extra stuff on the DVD is just icing on the cake, for me.
