Summary: The little green men ain't so little.
Review: I consider Predator, and its sequel, to be a fascinating new way to look at Aliens. In the past Aliens have been portrayed as either so advanced that we can not comprehend them or pathetically weak and easily abused by we violent humans. It is refreshing to see a species portrayed as technologically advanced but with a tribal, violent culture. For once we are able to have a real understanding of the Aliens' motivation. Rather than humanize them, I think it increases the horror of the victims' plight.

The premise of the film is that there is an Alien species that like to visit Earth to do a little hunting. The trouble is that the Predators appreciate intelligent and powerful prey and have therefore selected humans for the hunt. Typically they hunt singularly and only when it is extremely hot by our standards. With shoulder mounted, visually directed, laser guided, smart missiles and multi spectrum visors, they stalk a chosen field to bring down the most challenging human they can find. It is not mindless violence either. They only track prey that has a means of defence, (ie. that are armed) and will not take a pregnant female or child.

In the first film we just see the hunting habits of a predator in the jungle. We see its ritual cleaning of the trophies and we find a few holes in its defences care of Dutch, (Schwartzenegger). The second film is set in Los Angeles. We find that the government has its own agenda when it comes to the predators. The technology that the aliens employ is too tempting just to try to destroy them out of hand, which makes for an interesting conflict of interests.

The predator movies have spawned a wonderful series of comics which have since merged with the "Alien" comics to produce a top selling line called "Predator vs Aliens". For those who caught the elongated skull hanging in the trophy case in the predator's ship, it was put there by the special effects director as a nod to his earlier film, "Aliens", not as a hint of future films. It seems that the comics in that series were so popular that a number of books have been written on the subject and to complete the circle it is rumored that a movie version of one of the books may result.

Summary: GREAT ARNOLD CLASSIC!
Review: An authentic goodArnold film: violence, but with brains. It introduced a character (THE PREDATOR) who even went into comic, with success. Last important appearance, in movies, by the great "APOLLO CREED" from ROcky...

Summary: "Hey man you're bleeding!...."
Review: >"I AINT GOT TIME TO BLEED!"

THIS FILM IS AMAZING! From the opening shot of the space craft to the amazing one sided gunfight in the jungle to the killer ending - this is definately one of Arnolds best films , in my opinion only behind T2. The Fx is still great, the action scenes are extremely visceral and the the dialogue is classic - "Hey Dutch, you remember Afganistan?" "Please I'm trying to forget"!

Watch this / buy this now! By the way, why no THX for the DVD or any other features?

Like Mac says - I'm gonna have me some fun!

Summary: Shouldn't get highest rating for picture or sound quality
Review: I wanted to comment on the Widescreen Review of the picture and sound quality. I think the highest rating should be reserved for quality that is perfect in every way. There were a few short minor scenes where the picture looked grainy and I found very easy to pick up. I also had a weird sound change where background noise disappears (ie sound of burning wood) in the middle of some dialogue that had me rewinding wondering if I has hearing or not hearing things, as the case may be. None-the-less, the picture quality and sound is excellent where it counts and all this DVD could use is maybe some more extras. A decent DVD to have in any collection.

Summary: "Come on, KILL ME! I'm right here!"
Review: Awesome stuff. The Predator is one of the coolest aliens ever invented. I think the person responsible for its design deserves something. While the plot is typical of any Arnold movie, it's something different. It has something bigger than Arnold in it! Why 20th Century Fox won't make an "Aliens vs. Predator" movie based on the Dark Horse comic is beyond me. Buy this movie. It is superb and is a classic.

Summary: You Are One Ugly.............
Review: The great comic book story starring Arnold, what more could you ask for? The story is inventive and the action is top notch. The DVD comes through with phenomonal picture and sound. Which makes it worthwhile to trade in that deteriorating VHS classic for this Sci/Fi classic DVD. Definitly worth investing in.

Summary: Very Well Made Action Movie, One of Schwarzenegger's Best
Review: I recently rented "Predator" on DVD and I forgot what a darn good movie it was. This is one of Schwarzenegger's best films. This film has suspense, action, laughs. Though the DVD does not have any extras it is still worth buying just because it is a good movie.

Summary: Predator Rulez!
Review: Predator is a top quality DVD with excellent picture clarity and realistic sound effects. Another great title to add you collection if you enjoy Arnold's movies. If you are looking for a good scare then this is the movie to get. Arnold's older movies such as Terminator, Terminator2 and this film seem to have more "kick" that his latest movies. Definitely a collectors item and on DVD it's going to be a classic forever. I highly recommend this one.
